SJ speak for yourself huh. Frank talk all you want. I am enjoying hearing how much you show your love for our Great Pope. And I agree.

tell me SJ why does Franks talking about how he admires the last 2 Popes bother you so much?
You presume to know more than you do. Admiration of the pope, any pope is not bothering me at all. Do I admire the current pope, or any previous popes? Tell me if I do or don’t and why or why not. Don’t assume I am bothered by other’s admiration of any or all or some of them.

Frank has every right to feel as he does. So do you.

So does Usbek de Perse.

Your views are yours, his are his. We can all make our own minds up. You may think your views are superior, and that is your subjective perogative.

I don’t even want to start attacking your thread here, because it is so off the wall and not worthy of commentary. I do like it however, because it shows the mindset behind the views.👍

Rinnie, I am not the only one who is not a fan of your thread, or your views. Just look at this thing. I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings to you this way, but wake up!

I am not here to make fans. And if you are not a fan of my threads or views it does not matter to me. But why not let the ones who do want to share my threads and views with me do it in peace and love with me. There are thousands of thread here a day, why do you have to come here and ruin mine. Can’t you find a thread that you do enjoy and spend your time there. Why bother me?🤷

Ruin you?

Please PM me if you really believe that this is happening to you. I spent enough time trying to reason with a catholic about the existance of dinasours and their feelings of persecution about that to deal with this drama also today. 🤷

What is with you guys?

You are the majority, yet at the same time screaming how you are the minority. **How is that working for you? **(hat tip to Sarah Palin)

So getting back to the purpose of my thread. I believe that while the Pope was not only warning us he had another message.

And I think that alot of us are seeing now that message. And that is when you build that house on rock and you believe that God is more important then material things you are going to do much better.

Our finances may not be where they used to be, and because of that we will have to rely on God more than ever. Which we should have been doing all along. This is what God wants us to rely only on him, and trust him. And when we do no matter how bad it gets its going to be okay.

What the Pope saw was not only the spending of people he saw that People just quit caring for eachother anymore. We started putting everything that was not important before God. And now not only are the guilty suffering too many inocent are also.

I remember a Priest on EWTN saying one day that if we can kill babys with abortion and do not have mercy on a inocent baby how much mercy do we think God is going to have on us

While I don’t want this to turn into a abortion issue, Its still greed. We somehow forget to care and love eachother somewhere.

Maybe now with seeing ones we love suffer, and many doing without we can start to care again.

And for those who did lose their house, and did nothing wrong, hang in there. God had a much better house comming.

Don’t think anyone is trying to do that here. I could be wrong, but I haven’t read one thing that forces a pope upon another in this thread. I think the OP is right, the pope called it. Does it really make a difference that it was a Pope? I could have said the same thing about the world a few years back, and it would have been cool for my friends to now say “Wow, Matt called that one”. It’s just a statement, but in this case, it happens to be true. The Pope called it. Course, didn’t take a genius to figure it out. We Americans are ****** about our lifestyle, and it finally caught up with us. It’s going to take a long time before our world is okay again…God help us all.
At what point in time would this be “news” to anyone? How did he “call” anything?

Anyone could “call” this at any point in time in history and still be right!!!

How convienient!

What prophecy!

Hey protestants seems you guys have a problem with the way we admire the pope. What i dont understand is that you guys hail your preachers and put them on pedestals all the time. I have seen it first hand because i married a protestant girl and attended many a church with her. The Pope is someone everyone can look up to. He is put in his position by vote by his peers under prayer led by the Holy Spirit unlike a preacher who is put in position by his own authority and answers to no one. I just dont get this new age Church, really makes no sense to me. By the way dont meen to paint with a broad brush, i really meant this toward these more recent era churches.

really?? he has them?? where are they? what color are they?
the keys of course that Christ was speaking of was the Gospel. The good news that unlocks the doors of heaven to anyone that believes.
It is Our Lord Jesus Christ that start the Cathloic Church and it is HE that has the keys to heaven,Peter has the Keys Jesus pass them to him,and Peter do not tell me the color I think they may be gold

Bill, as much as I may or may not agree with you on that, or defend your position on that, can you see how none of that has any relevance at all with the OP’s thread?

I am striving to see the prophecy in this.

This so called “prophecy” could be considered valid in any given time, at any place everywhere.

How is this “calling” it?

I object to considering your pope as a typical gambler in Vegas. It just seems disrespectful to me for some reason. The reason being, that this is not prophecy, it’s called life- and life has been rather consistant in the way of struggles, hardships, and so on.

Do we really need the “enlightened” ones to tell us what we already know, and know personally? This seems rather insulting to me to imply this man is suddenly telling anyone let alone people prior to Christianity how to “cope” with… LIFE

I did not know where to put this, but its for all faiths, so I put it here. Many people do not agree with the Popes teaching. But did the Man not call a spade a spade.😃

5 or 6 years ago he said that the financial crisis slipping into the world today is because many build their house on Sand not Rock.

He said man has build their house on sand, Thats why the banks are collapsing, they did not build their life on Rock the word of God.

And did he not call it. How many people are so sick, and upset for what they have lost in money, homes, etc. But how many are trusting in God instead of money???

How many people trust the word of God more then the money in the bank. The Pope saw it comming, and he did warn us, did he not? But we refused to listen.

How many of us still refuse to listen to what he is telling us, THE WORD OF GOD.

How many of us have learned our lesson now, and are going to re-build that house on ROCK this time, instead of SAND?

I know I learned my lesson, and my house is ROCK SOLID NOW! How many times must we sit back and watch our houses wash away before we learn to trust in GOD COMPLETELY!!

I now can say I have no anxiety anymore, I gave up my 401k statements, I don’t even look at em. Could care less. Sure I still put away, and I have faith in God when the time Comes I will have enough. Lets just say I just got me a new BANKER!!😃
There were lots of people predicting this, especially in this country. I love the Pope, but other then this his statements have never seemed all that economically astute to me.

I’m not muslim. Nor do I prescribe to Shari’a law.
You don’t have to follow Sahri’a law. You were talking about how awful our society is, and chose to use the law about interest as an example of something that is better. You don’t have to follow all of Shari’a law. You don’t have to follow any part of it. You’re being challenged to practice what you’ve preached. 😉

I haven’t reread the OP this morning, but I’m not seeing where the OP said that the pope was prophetic when he “called it”. People use that phrase all the time. It merely means that someone was paying more attention to the details or had more experience than others, and knew what was coming before others did. It happens all the time.

The pope wasn’t the only one “calling it”. I think the difference is that the pope was talking about the spiritual ramifications of the way we live while others were talking about the financial consequences.

FWIW, people are living just as they did before the crash. People around the world don’t have enough to eat. Some Americans don’t have enough to eat. Obesity is a huge problem in this country. We’re eating ourselves into the grave, and yet people elsewhere die of hunger. This is still going on today.

So what’s changed?

Your anger clouds your sight. I was only saying, as I think the OP was, that he did call it. But that means no more to me, or anyone else here that I know of, other than he was right. I would say the same thing about some economists in the world, my father, and a few others that “called” this current situation.

Perhaps you need some butter with that jam? I think it got bitter.

I dunno, I would think anyone with half a brain could look at rampant western consumerism and the prevailing culture of credit and over-finance and predict a coming collapse.

Instead, the Pope was just acting as universal pastor and taking the opportunity to warn everyone of something they may have been ignoring but must certainly have realized was on the way. He did a very good and righteous thing, but it was hardly prophetic.

Ah, we are getting closer to the point I was hoping would come out.

When are political and corporate leaders going to see that is is because of their moral failing that we are living in that reality today.

And while it is easy to blame it all on them, can we not also take our share in the blame.

Its not what he said would happen, or did indeed happen. When are we going to embrace what he is saying and make a true moral change.

How many times is he going to have to tell us before we get what he is saying. That we have to put human dignity at the core of financial and economical choices.

Its not just our spending, or bad business choices, its when are we all going to learn from them and make that true change.

And Kalt as you did indeed state People are living the same as they did before. Sure we still have our problems, people are still starving etc. But on the other side of the coin so are the rich that took a hit, they are still living high on the hogs. What kind of hit do they have to take to open up their eyes. Thats what the Pope is furious about. When are we all going to make the moral change?

I asked my Dad one time, I said Dad why do people that have the least give the most. He said because People that have the least know what it means to do without. Is that whats is going to take? The people that have the most to do without before they can put human dignity and human morals back above greed.

While I never said that it was, and never meant it that way, I think I am going to accept what Strawberry Jam accused the Pope of now.

I am going to say yes I will accept that it was a Prophecy. Because he got to the CORE of the problem that People refuse to see. As many see it as you say credit over finance, he saw the core of it. Human dignity vs Wealth. ANd when you put wealth over human Dignty the ships going down.

If we would have build our houses on rock which is ( GOD, Human Diginity) we would not be in this shape.

And while all of us are not responsible for the greed, we will all suffer. But as usual as the Pope was saying the people that have the least will suffer the most. If we could have listened to what he was telling us think of a different world it could have been right now. Everyone would have had enough. And we would be booming. Like he said when you put Wealth over human dignity you are bound to fail.

No rinnie. It was not prophecy. All the saints, Church Fathers, Apostles–going right back to Jesus Christ and figures in the Old Testament —have been warning us about greed. It is nothing new under the sun.
If we could have listened to what he was telling us think of a different world it could have been right now.
People have not been listening for over 2000 years. Why would they listen now?

I understand what you are saying Mickey. But I am kind of looking at it in another way. While I agree it may not be a NEW Prophecy, when are we going to take heed?

ANd I guess MAYBE, just MAYBE will may just get it right this time. ANd that would be one way, and one way only. Turn back to God. Hopefully it will not take us another 2000 years.

If we could actually listen to what he is saying really listen and obey look where we could be!😃

I guess because sometimes suffering for some People Mickey, is the only way God can get their attention. I know it always worked for me:eek:
