Political correctness rules the day, like a snowball rolling down the hill, it will get worse.

The only way to stop it is for good folks to bankrupt these organizations by not supporting them.

You mean Catholics should not seek mental health treatment by licensed professionals? 🙂
 
I used to be a Boy Scout when I was a kid 40-some years ago. I was proud of it then and still proud of it up until today. I won’t be supporting them anymore; financially or otherwise. The Scouts were one of the few organizations out there that remained true to their principles but even they have now succumbed to political correctness.

I love my nephews who are both scouts, but I’m going to have to tell them I won’t be paying for them to attend the Jamboree next year in West Virginia, and I will tell them why. But hopefully that won’t be necessary; they are both good Catholic boys and if they are true to their faith, they will resign their memberships.

I’m sure this will sound snarkier than I mean it to, but great! It would seem to satisfy everyone. Those who, against the entire medical community’s judgment, still believe that homosexuality is “disordered” should be happy to leave BSA. And those who have tremendous concern about ostracizing gay youths should be happy to have fewer members who are interested in doing so. Seems like a win-win to me.
 
Those homosexual activists pushing for this change have been very open about this being only a first step. This is not the end game by a long shot. In fact, if this was the end game, I would not be all that concerned, but I know better. Next will be openly gay leaders and then teaching tolerance (aka acceptance) followed by removing God from the Scout Law and other areas of the BSA.

Simply put the BSA put money before God. They were more concerned about money they would lose for not keeping to their beliefs and being politically correct. Todays vote means my kids are no longer scouts and never will be again. Scouts is big in my area and With all the talk going on here they just lost 30 to 40K a year in donations not to mention over 50% of their members at least. We still believe in God and follow him. Not the devil and their love of money.

This whole deal is very sad. I expect that a lot of parents here in the “bible belt” will be pulling thier kids. What is even sadder is that all troops must abide by this, even the ones sponsored by diocese, parishes or other Church groups. I expect that there will be quite a few that pull away just like they did with the Girl Scouts.

The National Association of Social Workers, The National Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, the National Psychotherapy Association.

NO medical insurance agency in the US will reimburse for therapies designed to “change” sexual orientation such as those “therapies” promoted by the fringe group NARTH.

You mean like the Catholic Church that you claim to be a member of? The CCC states plainly that homosexuality is disordered.

2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity,140 tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered."141 They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.
 
Should BSA get hit with pedophilia directly as a result of this decision, we should remember who was for and against it.

The organization will splinter, and organization called “On my honor”, yes, it’s already been questioned legally as to their rights to that name, will probably spring up.
 
I’m missing a couple of things here: Where in this decision does it say that homosexual ACTIVITY will be permitted / condoned? How many 12 or 13 year old boys even have a fixed sense of their sexuality to declare? And since troops are typically tied to a specific territory, town, etc., aren’t these “gay youths” who present such a danger already in the same schools - to say nothing of sports teams and gym classes - with the other boys?

Yep. It is part of the reason my girls only participated in Girl Scouts through grade school. My middle son finished Cub Scouts this year and will not be a Boy Scout. Neither of those organizations are what they used to be. It is truly sad.

How exactly does a 12 or 13 yr old boy manifest “openly gay”???
