Boy Scouts to allow gay youths to join

As I understand, the BSA will allow a youth who says he is gay to join.

Openly gay or lesbian adults would still not be able to join Scout Leadership. Hopefully, this will remain. Sadly, I am afraid that people will try to pressure the BSA to change, but it is not so today.

I would think that a parish CYM/CYO (Catholic Youth Ministry) would also allow a boy who is Catholic and claims to be “gay” to join.

(The Girl Scouts, as I understand, do allow adult lesbian leadership. The GS programs have changed drastically over the last few decades.)

I encourage those of you whose sons enjoy Scouts to allow them to continue in Scouting, even if a “gay” boy does join the Troop.

We teach our children that we can accept all people, but we can not accept all actions. Being attracted to the same sex is not sinful. Acting upon those attractions is sinful.

I assume no sexual activities by Youth will be tolerated at any Scouting function.

I encourage you, if you support Scouting with donations, to continue to do so. There are many boys who only get to participate in Scouting because of donations. Your money can still help boys enjoy nature, learn new hobbies, be active, and learn leadership skills.

(I do not support gay or lesbian lifestyles or any homosexual actions, as they are against God’s rule. All sexual actions belong within the context of marriage only. Marriage is only between a woman and a man.)

I don’t see the problem honestly. Even before this policy change there were gay kids in scouts. What difference does knowing about it make? Besides, gay kids share locker rooms and shower rooms in gym class, on sports teams, at any sort of away/sleepover event, they share hotel room on class trips. This is no different and everyone will eventually get over it.

I would imagine many parishes will stop sponsoring and many will continue. Their Bishop could certainly tell them they can’t or leave it open to the individual parish.

As far as I am aware, Boy Scouts do much more than sleep in tents with each other. Again, as long as the gay kid sleeps in his own tent, is there any problem?

Homosexual acts are evil, same sex attraction is not. Are there people up in arms about the Boy Scouts who sleep with their girlfriends?

These kids who are now able to join Boy Scouts are the same boys who have been in gym class and played on sports teams with these same kids. Should we tell these gay kids that they can only play with other gay kids?

Being gay isn’t a disease. If I didn’t catch homosexuality by playing softball with many gay girls,(changing with them, sleeping in the same hotel room for tourneys, etc) I’m sure these boys aren’t going to catch it, either.

So, they are to admit a boy who is living the homosexual lifestyle? Will they ask him to be chaste? Will there be homo prosletyzing?

Most boys at around 12 aren’t even thinking about sex. This is simply a concession to the pressure and shortsightedness of the scout voters.

Scouts expect all members to be chaste and upright. I believe that is now history.

Using that same argument, we should all start donating to Planned Parenthood because despite abortions and birth control, they do a lot of “good things” like pre-natal care, breast cancer screenings, gynecological health services etc.

The homosexual lobby will never approve of orthodox Christianity. They will not be satisfied until orthodox Christians are completely pushed out of society…

I hope if a Catholic boy claims he is “gay” that he can still join the parish youth group.

I hope if a Catholic parish charters a Boy Scout Troop that they continue to do so. Scouting is a wonderful program. Allowing a “gay” boy to join is not sinful.

The Church allows “gay” adults to belong to the Church. Being “gay” is not sinful. Homosexual actions are sinful.

When the scouts tries to teach boys about chastity or immorality will they lose their religious freedom? You bet. This is bad and the scouts will just be Boycrafts in a few years.
