Why haven’t we heard anything about open lesbians in the Girl Scouts? Is this gender targeting?

It’s about both subjects. And where there is true inequality, organizations should be forced to deal with it.
Deal with it, sure. Be forced to change ANY of their membership requirements…no.

I don’t care what requirements the group has. It is their group and if they don’t want certain people in, regardless of their reason, then so be it.

Suck it up and start your own group. No one is entitled to be a member of any group.

Watch the number of actual homosexual males suddenly spike in the near future? I predict, yes. It’ll probably be blamed on more male homosexuals coming out of the closet, but it’ll really be an increase in actual male homosexuals.

Is this the same view you have when organizations have been found to ostracize based on other individual traits?

How could one possibly tell the difference?

What about transgendered kids? A girl who feels like a boy cannot become a boyscout? Such hypocracy!

Your level of hostility is frightening. No one is forcing anyone to deal with this issue for “no good reason.” Ostracizing youths, making them feel freakish, viewing them (not only their potential actions) as disordered – these are actually quite good reasons.

This is one of many posts, I believe, in this thread that seem to decry the fact that gays & lesbians want to be recognized, and describe a preference for the days when no one heard about homosexuality. Why is it necessary to believe that homosexuality is a choice if being gay doesn’t in and of itself mean one is immoral?
Lets not ignore the transgendered here now… They’re part of the LGBT community as well.

Oh, you’re referring to ‘Queers’ then…

According to Wikipedia, the term LGBTQ is being used popularly as of late to refer to Queers - which is a term designated to describe people who ‘question’ their sexual orientation.

How could one possibly tell the difference?
Probably can’t. But watch social research scientists who go against the grain get fired.really quick and quietly… that’s what is happening at present, but this too will be untestable.

Organizations? How about people. If this becomes an issue for me here, in my church, school and pack, then I will deal with it. If a child wants to join as a homosexual, then my response will be the Catholic teaching about that particular** sin**. I do not think there is anyway this will ever be an issue though unless there is some activist parent in the background. As I believe there is a gay agenda and real people that try to push homosexuality though, I will be prepared. There are parents who would use a child that way to make themselves feel better.

On the other hand if some child joins that is called gay and may be effeminate, then he will not be ostracized. Such an situation would open a teaching opportunity for what love is and what love isn’t.

Traits? I thought we were discussing homosexuality. If you speak of this particular issue as a “trait”, then yes I would have no problem ostracizing a pedophile, for example.

That’s it! Transgendered kids just happen to not be on the social engineers’ agenda! Hey, come on, some group of social engineers need to take control of things. Just remember that in all things, God works for the good! Our world simply cannot continue to thrive without some form of guidance. Place your faith in Catholicism, and know that in the end (Revelations), everything works out. This is the power of faith!

This is one of many posts, I believe, in this thread that seem to decry the fact that gays & lesbians want to be recognized,
“Gays and lesbians want to be recognized.”

What does this actually mean?

Since to ‘be’ gay/lesbian means that one has sexual thoughts and attraction toward members of the same sex and/or that one has sexual relations with members of the same sex, doesn’t it mean that they want their sexual thoughts or actions to be recognized? That they want others to be thinking about or talking about their (the gays and lesbians’) sexual thoughts and actions?

Or does ‘gays and lesbians want to be recognized’ mean something else to you?
and describe a preference for the days when no one heard about homosexuality.
Why *should *we always be hearing about other people’s sex lives? I think the whole gay movement makes a major mistake in claiming people ‘hate’ them. No, most people simply don’t want to hear what they do in bed. Seriously, what’s next, a movement to make sure masturbators are ‘recognized?’ A movement to make sure masturbating youth are allowed in scouts? To make sure we all ‘recognize’ those whose sexual preference is for threesomes or orgies or dungeons and bdsm??? To make sure boys and adults who tell the whole world what they like to do with whips and chains and bondage can still be scouts and scout leaders??? There’s a long, long list of what people like to do sexually outside the mainstream. How many of these must we hear about and ‘recognize?’

Yes, I WOULD prefer a day when I don’t have to hear what people do sexually. So sue me. Ever heard of discretion? Or privacy?

You’re confusing two meanings of the word. There’s same sex attraction and there’s homosexual activity. I’m sure that’s been explained elsewhere in this thread.
  • To have a feeling or struggle with a temptation is not a sin, and not necessarily a choice. To engage in illicit sexual actions is a choice and is immoral.

Traits? I thought we were discussing homosexuality. If you speak of this particular issue as a “trait”, then yes I would have no problem ostracizing a pedophile, for example.
Even if he is non-practicing and is just being honest letting everyone know that he has this tendency to be attracted to children?

Nope. Sorry, RobbyS…apparently, the burden of proof is on you, so you need to provide evidence of the lack of evidence. 😛
Homosexuality has always been regarded a deviant behavior. I think it is up to you to show that it is something inborn or compulsive. After all it is you who are proposing the new view.

Even if he is non-practicing and is just being honest letting everyone know that he has this tendency to be attracted to children?
To admit something like this, is this being honest or is there something amiss with him?

Remember that in confession we always came up with the “impure thoughts” thing? Father did not ask us to get into details beyond, Did we act on them. Did we try to avoid those occasions that led to them?
