There have been no facts presented, only opinion, either yours or that of someone who wrote a book which you reference.
Yes there have been, I have cited specific instances, directed you to a book, and even given you the name of the operation, which you are free to look up, the NY Times has a nice report on it.
I’ve been in the “fact” business for over 40 years. I know what they are. Opinions, no matter how firmly, or even rudely, stated, are not facts.
Why don’t you tell me what is my oppinion? The well documented historical fact of the CIA’s involvement in the overthrow of the Iranian PM, or the scientific poll Gallop conducted into populations of the Muslims world investigating the 7% that described the 9/11 attacks as justafied?
You’ve been presented with facts, you brush them aside. How ironic that you make such an accusation, perhaps because the tactic is so familiar to you? Those facts that I have presented are well documented and well known.
You haven’t cited anything specific, so far as I have seen you have simply repeatedly asserted that Islam is to blam and the West has nothing to do with it, if you have presented any facts I am unaware of please direct me to them and I’ll look at them.
You are welcome to confirm them if you like. Something that basic should not require that someone else do your homework for you. A person would have to be, as they say, “living under a rock” not to be familiar with the backwardness of much of the Islamic world, of which Iran is hardly representative.
I have never denied that much of the Muslim world is developing, nor have I denied that Islam has, at times, retarted progress.
What specific facts would you like me to check out?
The conclusions drawn from those facts may not be happy ones, and may not be ones that some people like to see, especially if those conclusions don’t fit their world view, but that doesn’t change the facts.
What is my world view?
In a previous post, you cited a sense of humiliation and oppression within Islam.
I cited Gallup’s findings
described to you what any good psychologist would do in evaluating the factors that serve to contribute to a sense of genuine self worth, thus extinguishing any perceived sense of humiliation. I also noted that the West is not oppressing Islam, only their own governments are.
I agrea the West is not opressing Islam, if, however, you wish to maintain there there is not a long history of Western opression of the Muslims world, and that Western governments have not funded, and supported totalitarian regimes in the Muslim world that have opressed their people then you are simply ignoring reality.
If you would like specific instances of totalitarian government we supported I would be happy to provided specific instances.
I
t would appear that some people are just happier blaming the West for all the problems in the Islamic world.
I have never once done such a thing, the Muslim world has done plenty to handycap itself.
That sort of thinking shows only bias based on ignorance and a certain sense of self-hatred, characteristics that are typical of the Left, but utterly lacking in factual foundation.
Are you a psychologist?
There are no facts to support the idea that the West is oppressing Islam. Dredging up opinions that are decades-old and trying to construct some sort timeline of events to fit a pre-determined conclusion doesn’t change that.
Are you deneying that the Islamic Revolution in Iran was greatly motivated by the opression of the Shah?
I do appreciate your efforts to spell correctly!

As a one time-editor myself, I find, just as many university professors do, that it is very difficult to take the writing of anyone seriously when that person cannot spell.
Sure, and some idiots disreguard Bush off hand because he can’t string two sentences together. Both are rather foolish judgements. I have horrid spelling and have never denied that all I ask is to judge what I write based on the factual content and analysis, I ignored your confusion over Carter and the Iranian government because silly petty distractions serve only for impotent ad hominems that get nobody anywhere
At many universities professors will discard a paper and give it a zero grade at the first mis-spelled word. m glad you’re making an effort to spell as it may assist you in the dialogs you have both here at CAF & elsewhere. It’s good to see!!
And I appreciate your petty sarcasm:thumbsup:
