Brees ‘received death threats’ over flag comments

Los Angeles (AFP) - The wife of New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees said on Sunday they received death threats over his comments about athletes protesting during the American national anthem.

“Until we experienced the death threats, we experienced the hate, did I realize that these words were speaking directly to us. How could anyone who knows us or has had interactions with us think that Drew or I have a racist bone in our body?” Brittany Brees wrote in a social media post.

Brees received plenty of backlash over his comments earlier in the week that he doesn’t agree with players kneeling during the national anthem to protest the mistreatment of blacks in the US.
This is disgraceful, there are some real unhinged people out there.

I agree…that applies to both ways…

I’d agree but that opens up as to whether the two cases are comparable.

I will say, Brees merely says something like “I love my flag”, something like this and on his own time.

Now, I respect Colin and his rights to free speech; but I’m not sure if the cases are comparable.

Nobody should be threatened for merely saying something like “I love my country”… that’s why I think this is pretty shocking.

Yes, in turn, Kaepernick knelt down on TV and whatever other statements he made.

Kaepernick has worn a t-shirt with Castro on it, Kaepernick seems to parrot a lot of things, communists would say. I would not be dismissive of this. I think he’s even talked about Cuba.

Nothing sounds stupider than telling entire races what they think or believe.

But do go on with your silly racist posts. The more you do, the sooner you’ll get banned.

Nothing scares white folk like a black man standing up to them. /s
I will listen to Thomas Sowell, Walter E. Williams, Tim Scott, Justice Thomas, Condi Rice, Candace Owens, Ben Carson.
Google them if you don’t know who they are.

I tend to not listen to anyone who espouses forms of socialism/ communism /fascism, that are responsible for the murder of tens of millions of civilians in the last century.

This is the methodology of the left. One dare not disagree with them ,much less verbalize a disagreement.Such individuals will be forced into retracting their comments. These police that were shown taking a knee, heads bent low begging the protesters for forgiveness is just another example of this coercion. It’s both frightening and disgusting at the same time.

When it threatens his family’s safety, he didn’t have much choice but to apologize.

I stopped watching the NFL well before this sort of stuff. I just wish all people would see that, for all the good men playing the game, it’s no longer viable entertainment. To continue watching is to feed the discord.

That is, you will listen to a small minority of African Americans who say what you agree with and ignore the rest.
Is it racist to listen to them? Is it racist to agree with some blacks, but not the blacks you agree with? I thought that was the nature of overcoming racism, of the free exchange of ideas.
A comment was made by a poster that was overtly racist and derogatory, stating that “white folk” don’t like it when a black man takes a stand, and you have a problem with me identifying those with whom I agree? Really?
Considering that they are in the minority among blacks, it seems pretty bold of them to do so.
The vast majority of African Americans who complain about the police and justice system do not believe this. Does this mean you will listen to them?
That’s great. Hopefully they reject Antifa, then, and The socialist agenda put out by Bernie, AOC and a bunch of others. The ones I won’t listen to, as I said before, are the people, regardless of race, who espouse socialism/fascism/communism.

Drew Brees still has a job because instead of being faithful to his beliefs he capitulated to the leftist demands and no doubt pressure by the NFL to retract and grovel.ColnnKapetnick has not been spared any horses. His nonsense with the kneeling is what staryed all this

Amazing. Great actor who seemingly went with less fanfare than I’d expect.

Hackman was awesome as Luthor too, if not very campy.

Drew Brees still has a job because he is an extremely talented quarterback who has done an outstanding job for the Saints. He is a delight to watch during a game.

Kaepernick does NOT have a job because he isn’t a particularly outstanding player, and there are many others who ARE outstanding.

I’m pretty certain the owners of football teams are among the least racist of any of us–they select their players based on talent, not color or creed.
