Given her succession of low scores from the judges, Bristol Palin’s surprise advancement to the finals of ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” has sparked a wealth of controversy this week, with many speculating fans of her famous mom, Sarah Palin, are suspiciously behind her continued success.
One Wisconsin man allegedly became so irate that the 20-year-old mom was still on the show that he fired his shotgun into the television
, prompting a 15-hour standoff with Dane County officers on Monday evening.
Burke’s co-host, Tom Bergeron, is also less-than-impressed with those who fuel speculation that Palin’s survival is a result of Republicans doing such things as sabotaging those competing against Bristol.
“I’m a liberal Democrat, and I state that proudly. But I have no patience with my friends who believe there is a conspiracy keeping Bristol on the show. They’ll say, ‘Oh, well! She’s still on the show! She’s obviously not the best dancer! She gets the lowest scores!’ I’ll say, ‘OK, right. So who did you vote for instead of Bristol?’ ‘Uh, well, I don’t vote!’ ‘Well, then, f**k you,’” he griped to Movieline.com. “I have no patience for that! If you don’t participate to create a different outcome — and this can be true in national politics
or a TV reality show — then don’t **** and moan if you don’t like the way it’s playing out. I think Bristol is clearly not the best dancer here, but she’s a charming young woman who’s shown an incredible growth from week one to this week.”
I understand it’s dancing with the stars, not learn how to dance with the stars. But they do pit people who have a career or some sort of background in dancing against people with two left feet every season. I barely watch the show, but I do not understand the disgust liberals have for this young girl. Of course Brandy was the better dancer, I could have told you that before the show ever started. But I think people can relate to Bristol more than they ever would Brandy.

Oh well, barely interesting enough to not be considered a waste of time imo. Too bad they are whining about a show that has nothing to do with politicis because they do not like the politics of one of the contestants mother.

Plenty of reasons for liberals to hate her:
  1. She supports abstinence, a banned word on the left.
  2. She has not aborted her child, an unthinkable course of action for a young person to take.
  3. The left prefers Levi Johnston because, of course, he insulted Sarah Palin and her family on live air, and that instantly gets you into the lefty club.
  4. They hate her mother. Like mother, like daughter. Hate mother, hate daughter.
The list goes on.

This only shows you one thing: the people voting on DWTS obviously are fans of Sarah Palin, if not necessarily her daughter.

Oh, I don’t know…I kinda like the conspiracy theory…and I can tell you, improved or not, she is one of the worst dancers they’ve had on the show. To be fair, tho, this season has not produced the same quality of performance as previous ones. Of course, the entire concept of the thing is flawed to me…it is not just a dance contest, but a popularity one too. But if not for her mother, I fear she would fail dismally on both counts.

I voted for Bristol. Mainly because she’s not a star like the others, I get tired of the attitudes of most of the contestants after watching this show since it first began. I enjoy watching her because it was obvious from the beginning she was not comfortable and she’s trying something I would be afraid to do myself. And I think she’s a good example for teenagers that have made a very bad decision concerning premarital sex and she’s trying to do the right thing now. I think her getting the votes every week is absolutely a conspiracy, but I think its more that people are just fed up with celebrities always thinking they know better than us common people and the public finally wants to see the everyday person in the spotlight win for a change.

I have the opposite conspiracy. When I heard that Bristol Palin was going to be on DWTS, I thought that this would hurt Sarah Palin’s chances for running in 2012. Bristol is heavy “baggage” for Sarah whether we like it or not. As long as Bristol is on the show, the more it would hurt Sarah, and if Bristol wins it will focus negative attention on Sarah.

Bristol is a loose cannon, lets recap what is commonly known about her:

During 2008 campaign it was revealed she would have a baby.
Then Levi and Bristol were going to get married (uh oh teen marriages don’t work).
After the election, they broke up (shock I tell you!).
Then Bristol appears on Greta’s Fox News show and basically ridicules abstinence education as saying it doesn’t work.
Then a few months later Sarah and Bristol announce promotion of abstinence speaking engagements. When asked about Greta’s interview, it was said that Greta misrepresented what Bristol said. (Umm Fox doesn’t do that to Republicans)

Then sometime last year Bristol and Levi announce they are engaged on some entertainment show or magazine and state that Sarah doesn’t know about it yet!!!

Then Bristol goes on DWTS.

Loose cannon? Oh yeah!!!

I’m staunchly pro-life, an independent voter, and think that Sarah Palin would be an unmitigated disaster as president. However, I think that Bristol - though a terrible dancer - is a normal girl, whose made the same mistakes many young people make; I certainly think it was gutsy for her to go on the show, and that she has carried herself well and earned a lot of sympathy from viewers.

I hope Jennifer Gray wins, but I wish Bristol the best.

Most improved.
I have watched this show for years, its a nice show that you can watch with kids… Bristol is a good dancer and has improved A LOT.

This show, like American Idol, is up to viewers to vote for their favorite. … its a popularity contest.
There is always people who are great who go home early because they aren’t the viewers favorite.

Once again… the left is unhinged and ridiculous over a tv show. I understand Joy Behar is so enraged over this nonsense that she might need a straight jacket.

Why isn’t anyone asking while that Kyle kid is still on? Is he the best dancer? NO… but he is fun to watch… and he has improved a lot…just like Bristol.
Erin Andrews was on there… not the greatest dancer but everyone was rooting for her.
Kelly Osborne… not the greatest dancer… but she was adorable and went really far.
Donny Osmond won it one year because he was so much fun to watch and was the viewers favorite. It didn’t hurt that Morman’s had fan clubs for him. Heck, I even picked up the phone and voted for him…which I never vote.

I hope Bristol wins the whole thing. She is good, having a great time… She is not an arrogant celebrity.
I will be voting on Monday for Bristol… it will make me smile knowing so many liberals will go insane if she wins.

Well now that you’ve mentioned Joy Behar is enraged over the whole thing, that just motivates me more to vote for Bristol.

Why is there any need to recap what you say you know about her? What is your point?
Loose Cannon? how judgementally condescending.
She is a young women who (say it’s not true) is just as humanly imperfect as the rest of us, who has made some mistakes in her young life. Who hasn’t?
Because she is Sarah Palin’s daughter it seems that some people feel they can say very destructive and unkind things about her. Why is that necessary? she did not kill anyone, she is not a criminal, I really don’t get it. If meaning she is a loose cannon because she did not abort her baby then yeah there are millions of loose cannons out there and God Bless them.

I dont get it either…

She didnt kill her child… GOOD FOR HER.
When I think of the things I did when I was her age… makes me cringe.

She is a single mom at 20 years old… I cant think of a much harder life. Her friends are all at college and having a great time… she is a single mom.

She believed a guy who wasn’t what he portrayed himself to be. Been there done that.
Most teenage girls can attest to that too. Most grown women can attest to that.

Absolutely, which is why I do not get all the negative comments about her, it really is very sad that some feel the need to do that.

Right wing conspiracy? snorts

Dancing with the Stars is much like American idol. It really isn’t about talent, it is a popularity contest. And don’t forget the power of VFTW (Vote For the Worst), the bane of some, a source of joy for others. Vote for the Worst has discriminating taste, one must not only tank, but be entertaining while tanking. Bristol has both of those qualities.

She is the choice of VFTW. votefortheworst.com/story/666604/we-did-it-bristol-palin-makes-the-top-3-of-dancing

Bristol also has the backing of Kelly Osbourne, whose father Ozzy is the Prince of Darkness you know. 😉

Regarding the original subject of the thread…who could possibly care? ;);

John

The drama over Bristol Palin makes me think that my choice to watch less TV is a wise one.

Who cares? It’s some dorky reality show and a girl whose 15 minutes should have ended 20 ago.

(and I agree 90 percent of the time with her mom)

Amen. And that goes double for her mother.
I’m already suffering from Palin fatigue and I voted for her.

I guess it’s impossible that anyone should just think she’s not that good a dancer. It MUST be for hateful ideological reasons!
sheesh
