An armadillo with a broken leg could out-dance Palin. Pathetic to watch. It’s just rigged to keep right-wingers watching it and give the rest of the country a good villain foil. She’ll get dumped soon…big claim to fame is a teen pregnancy and not aborting the baby. With those qualifications, wow, the sky’s the limit! :p:rolleyes:

You realize the final shows are this week right? That’s why everyone is “enraged” because she’s made it to the finals.

There have been far worse celebrities, famous people on that show. Kate Gosslin comes to mind. The Situation, a couple of the people that won those inane dating shows.

Don’t be so sure! These are the finals and this has turned soley into a popularity contest; forget the dancing. I still contend the one winning isn’t Bristol, but Sarah!

I don’t know any right wingers that watch the show. If there’s nothing else on, my wife may turn it on, but I don’t pay attention to it. I know none of my family watches it.

Bristol’s claim to fame is not a pregnancy, her claim to fame is her name. Who John McCain made famous, and she had little control over. She can do good things with the teen pregnancy though, and is trying to.

There is a show where teenage pregnancy has made a few kids famous, produced by Dr. Drew. It is a very good show to watch, probably the best show MTV has had on in years.

Well now that you’ve mentioned Joy Behar is enraged over the whole thing, that just motivates me more to vote for Bristol.
I’ve only ever seen the clips of Palin’s “dancing” since I don’t watch the show. Improved, or not, this woman is an awful “dancer” and stiff as a board.
The comment above is exactly why she has not yet been dismissed from the program.
Instead of voting for Palin, people seem to be voting against her critics.
Silliness.

I’ve heard about this for days and still don’t watch the show.👍

Keep in mind that some of the “stars” in the program have actually danced before, some of them professionally, as in the movie “Dirty Dancing”. ??? They danced professionally before??? Got it??? They aren’t just “stars” … they are, in their own right, “PROFESSIONAL DANCERS” already!! Got it?

No one is “entitled” to be a “star”. Some of the “stars” are performers whose careers are overdehill … even at an early age. Even with great desire. It’s about how many movie tickets do you sell? How many DVD’s do you sell? How many sponsors are lined up to pay for filming your television show? How many people will buy tickets to your broadway show?

So if a performer can no longer perform, or if a chorus singer performs better than THE HEADLINER, then either the headliner reinvents herself or gets a second wind or retires.

It’s all about “box office” … how many people show up at the performance. And plunk down their money.

Period.

So, when a complete neophyte gets suckered into accepting a contract to appear on the show, AND she has a fan base! … folks get upset because the audience votes for her.

Du-uh.

It’s NOT about the BEST dancer. It’s about the “star”.

Bristol is the only contestant who practiced this week while receiving death threats.
Pretty impressive for a 20 year old girl.

I think she is great! I hope she wins… but even if she doesnt… she did awesome!

Now c’mon you have no proof that those death threats aren’t from normal everyday viewers, nothing political…no.

Hahaha… yea… those scary grandparents in the tea party must have made the threats and sent some powder to a 20 year old girl.

🙂

Rush Limbaugh said today that they would fix the judging to ensure that Bristol wouldn’t win. Having seen the show many years, I thought he was exagerating. But he was right. They came up with a new judges score to make sure it tipped their way.

Oh well, I’m just glad that she got to stay on the show the whole time and grow. I believe that the public owed it to her after the dissing she got during the election. NO one treated Chelsea Clinton that way, they weren’t even allowed to speak about her.

Here she was a teenager, unwed and pregnant, and creeps in the media publicly ridiculed her because her mother was a vice presidential candidate. And remember Letterman making a remark about her sister months after the election, and then “apologized” because by saying that he thought he was ridiculing Bristol?!!

I was voting for her, not her mom.👍

Some of the negative things (sometimes quite vicious) said about her, including on this thread, are sickening. These are adults saying all this ugly stuff about a 20 year old young woman, all becuase her mother had the Gall  to dare run for Vice President. 🤷

OH PUHLEEZE! Anyone familiar with ballroom dance would immediately recognize the inferior quality of her performance when compared to the other real contenders. I hope in the future they no longer allow anyone to compete who is even remotely in the political limelight, but the judges scores were based upon musicality and interpretation, choreography, technique, and timing.

So you think the mirror ball trophy was due and payable to her just because she had to bear the hatred and scorn of the left? What you are suggesting is just as bad as “fixing” the judging. This is an entertainment show and a DANCE contest - not solely based upon popularity. Give some credit to the best dancer who won with consistent high scores despite some serious injuries and tough decisions to make. :yup:

Geesh!

Rush Limbaugh said today
Uh oh…

Just last week, the Palin haters were peddling a vague conspiracy theory that a mysterious force of Palin supporters were robocalling en masse to tip the vote in favor of Bristol.

Now, Limbaugh is claiming that the judging was rigged…

Sheesh!

Whatever happened to good old ENTERTAINMENT? Would the ideologues at least have the common decency to stay out? Who needs controversy like this? Don’t we get enough of that in the real world?

Bristol did very well to get as far as she did. Jennifer Gray was fabulous. Given the nature of the contest, it was a good outcome, although being a football fan, I hoped Kurt Warner would have gotten farther.

What I think is that people take this show waaaaaaaaaaaaay too serious.🙂

If it were not also a popularity contest there be no need to have celebrities. They could just have professional dancers and of course no one would watch.

I just dont believe that Bristol was better than Jennifer Grey and that boy Korey?

Nothing Political about it to me at least.🤷

I am just glad it is over with.

I don’t listen to Rush, but I used to. Anyone who is familiar with his show would automatically recognize a tongue-in-cheek comment when he makes it. Without even hearing the segment, I can tell. It’s his way of poking fun at the over-the-top anger by liberals over Bristol Palin’s making it to the finals. 🙂

And, that is exactly where the “popularity” portion of the show comes from. I think the producers are smart to put a good mix of backgrounds on the show, so they can draw from multiple demographics. A celebrity’s fan base is just as important as their dance skills…until the finals.

Since you brought it up that it is an entertainment show, you should consider that many people were entertained by Bristol and casted their votes in that manner. A better dancer does not always equal the better entertainer or equal the fan favorite. Cloris Leechman was my vote getter when she was on and I don’t think she’d ever be confused for someone that could really dance. Sometimes the better dancers actually bore me to tears.
