@blackforest and we should believe their accounts… why?
To repeat, I have stated since my first post that their accounts confirm the terrible conditions of ICE detention centers. And yes, where there’s been more than enough corroboration, I believe them.

If true, their account of detention was excessive. However, given that they were allegedly recorded on video deliberately trying to drive into the U.S., and now we read that they had 16K in cash, combined with already mentioned media lies, omissions, exaggerations, and b.s., I’m a bit suspicious.

Not saying their account of detention isn’t true, I’m just suspicious.

I know I do. And I make sure to use unmarked back roads to try to cross international borders. Which I try to cross by driving across ditches.

Do other government facilities host overnight guests in 50-degree temperatures under tin blankets?
When i was in the AF i had to stay overnight in government quarters before the heat was allowed to be turned on, it was in the upper 30’s that night. “tin blankets” are more commonly known as “space blankets” or “emergency blankets” and they do keep you warm. they arent ideal and i dont know why regular bedding was not avaliable but “tin blankets” will keep you warm, maybe not confortable, but warm.

In addition to deliberately crossing the border, they seem to have been carrying $16,000 in cash in the trunk of their car.

Your link confirms much strangeness
  • they had to cross a very difficult ditch to get into the US, they were offroading
  • two people in the vehicle had recently been denied entry into the US
  • Border Patrol tried to send them back, but Canada refused to take them.

The space blankets are cheap and disposable. Real blankets would need to be washed or sterilized after each use, that combined with storage is a logistical headache.

Linking these two together is irrelevant. Most people in this thread continue to use this case in order to deflect from the detention centers.

Let’s not be too selective with our skepticism. They may have been up to no good. I’d like to see the video footage. Also, it’s technically not illegal to carry that much cash. That doesn’t mean they’re innocent, but it doesn’t make them guilty, either. I knew a car salesman who conducted all-cash transactions - not frequent but certainly not unheard of.

Interesting. When did the USAF start recruiting three-month-old babies?

Somehow, our prisons, which actually house people with guilty convictions, have been providing real blankets for centuries. Perhaps there are some minor improvements that could be made? Detained migrant children got no toothbrush, no soap, no sleep | The Texas Tribune

if you go back to my original point, it was that it is not uncommon for govt building to have rules for when to turn on the heat. it is not the doing of some boarder patrol guard who just wishes to see people suffer.

Sure. And my point is that it is not right for a government facility to turn off the heat overnight on a family with a newborn baby.

It’s not illegal to carry that much cash around, so you’re correct, that doesn’t make them guilty. I just find it suspicious. But, as I previously posted, I’m waiting for further info.

The heat was not turned off just for them or any other person. It had not yet been turned on for the season. This is not a case of government being malicious towards these people.

Considering all the lies in the mother’s account of what happened, could it just be possible she is lying about the conditions in which they were kept?

Then turn it on. There’s no excuse for it that doesn’t sound like Eichmann on a smaller scale.

Considering all of the timesthat ICE has lied, is there any chance that they’re lying about this?

And that’s the crux of the matter; someone’s fibbing. But given that one side has video footage, and the other side’s story has changed…

Footage we haven’t seen. It may be valid, but what about them denying the detention center conditions?

But then, ICE lying wouldn’t fit the narrative of “Murica always good.” 😉

Because we are always good. 😉 And now we’ve come full circle to the question of “who’s telling the troof?”
