HUH? um. Casteration probably that’s mutilation.
You might want to read Cherry 5’s post at #422: “Not true at all, first transition does not Equate to Surgery (SRS) , It could just involve Hormones…only a minority of Transgender people go for SRS Surgery.”

SRS = Sex reassignment surgery

I don’t know if he did or not.

Please! Sexual attraction has nothing to do with being transgender. There is absolutely Nothing to indicate that Caitlyn Jenner is doing this for reasons related to autogynephilia.

I would suggest you take the time to do some research before making judgemental statements.

No one on this thread knows Caitlyn Jenner well enough to make these accusations. Makes us Catholics look bad.

It would be worth while trying to understand what is the driver for taking the position you have taken.

The Church has said nothing officially regarding this condition! What gives you the right to play God?
Pretty sure the Church doesn’t condone mutilationg one’s body for whatever reason. Additionally,I am pretty sure the Church feels compassion for such individuals,loves them,however encouraging a disordered lifestyle that is incongruous with God, by passive acceptance is not the loving response to these individuals.

The response by me would be to love the individual. Understand that we all are confused because of sin. I know people that are homosexual. I no problem with them. If they were to ask me what I thought about homosexuality I would say it was confusion. Just like the rest of us. Homosexuality has been touched upon by the church though.

But what is that loving response? Do you think if Caitlyn Jenner or another individual who is transgendered happened upon this site, they would get the impression that Catholics are filled with love and compassion for them?

It’s a nice thing to say, but is it really true?

The loving response is to not encourage their delusion.

Because of the kinds of judgmental and often harsh responses they get or got in the past, most LGBT people have probably been driven away from most organized religion and are hostile to it. And reaching out successfully to people in this community is very difficult for most churches, even those that are now more welcoming and accepting.

There is another thread on this site re Pope Francis stating,be careful not to broaden your conscience so that everything fits. As Christians/Catholics we are called to love one another,however,encouraging our brethren to continue in disordered and destructive behavior,just so they will feel better,is unauthentic and harmful.

Right, but does that answer the question?

“…however, encouraging our brethren to continue in disordered and destructive behavior, just so they will feel better, is unauthentic and harmful.”

Again, that’s so vague that it could include all kinds of behavior and just seems to give us an excuse for talking about people in truly deplorable terms.

That’s a very low bar, don’t you think? By that standard, the Westboro Baptist Church could be seen as having a loving response.
Nonsense. No one here is suggesting Mr. Jenner be picketed or publicly admonished. We are stating, correctly, that he is putting his immortal soul in danger and that a Catholic should in no way support his actions.

Exactly. I know gay and lesbian people who think that terms used in the catechism like, “respect, compassion and sensitivity” and “unjust discrimination,” are nothing more than platitudes. And I think they’re right. I have a friend who is a school psychologist for a Catholic Diocese and works at several high schools. What she told me is that the gay teens that she has worked with have no confusion about the Church’s stance on homosexual behavior as sin. She said what they are confused about is whether or not the Church really cares about them.

The traditional enumeration of the corporal works of mercy is as follows:
•To feed the hungry;
•To give drink to the thirsty;
•To clothe the naked;
•To harbour the harbourless;
•To visit the sick;
•To ransom the captive;
•To bury the dead.

The spiritual works of mercy are:

•To instruct the ignorant;
•To counsel the doubtful;
•To admonish sinners;
•To bear wrongs patiently;
•To forgive offences willingly;
•To comfort the afflicted;
•To pray for the living and the dead

We are coming up on the Year of Mercy. True mercy. Souls are much more important than feelings.

You’re missing the point. How does Westboro type picketing and admonishment fail to meet the standard you set: “The loving response is to not encourage their delusion.”

From a daughter of a man who underwent sex change, waning BJ’s children of pain, mourning, and loss ahead.

Humanity is making a mockery of the Creator. Instead of accepting God’s design, man is deciding for himself what sex he will be. Ultimately, he is trying to become his own creator. This is an act of rebellion at the deepest core. We are witnessing a culture shift that is determined to destroy God’s image of male and female. It is an issue of the heart.
