Is anyone else thinking of that episode of “The Simpsons,” where Homer went to the All-You-Can-Eat seafood buffet, only to get thrown out at closing time though he hadn’t had all he could eat?
I don’t know. I have seen some really thin people at buffets seriously pack it away, while large people barely eat salad.i worked at a buffet and my managers would always cringe when people over 200 pounds came in
Yes! The only reason we ever go to a buffet is because the ravenous one in our Mutt and Jeff act (the tall, skinny one) demands more food than can be ordered cheaply at a regular joint. The short, plump one would rather eat 300 calories at home. *I don’t know. I have seen some really thin people at buffets seriously pack it away, while large people barely eat salad.
I used to like them, but lately it is getting kind of disgusting. I suppose the higher-priced ones are a little better. Are table manners entirely forgotten? Sweet Tomatoes in the Pacific Northwest is the exception to the rule…they’re great.A mention of Chinese Buffet as dinner on another thread leads me to ask the question… am I the only one who hates them? My hatred is not reserved for Buffets of Chinese food, but for the entire restaurant buffet idea.
A buffet at home for a large gathering of friends or family can be wonderful. A buffet at the Parish Hall (or in the Fellowship Hall for non-Catholics) is also fine. I can even suffer through one at a convention or wedding event.
When the average American spots a buffet in a restaurant, the resulting behavior is not a pretty sight. The food is below average on a restaurant buffet… I can go on and on.
Anyone else? Buffet horror stories?
That being the second reccomendation of Sweet Tomatoes, I may just have to plan a trip and test out that buffetSweet Tomatoes in the Pacific Northwest is the exception to the rule…they’re great.

Yes, they are in a different class of buffet restaurants. I didn’t realize they were down south, though? Glad to hear they’re widely available. That being the second reccomendation of Sweet Tomatoes, I may just have to plan a trip and test out that buffet![]()
because, no matter how hard they try, the sneeze guard is NEVER good enough…A mention of Chinese Buffet as dinner on another thread leads me to ask the question… am I the only one who hates them? My hatred is not reserved for Buffets of Chinese food, but for the entire restaurant buffet idea.

They are not here, thus my “planning a trip” - I’ve not seen the great northwest for years and yearsYes, they are in a different class of buffet restaurants. I didn’t realize they were down south, though? Glad to hear they’re widely available.
so true so true!Ditto. Another thing about buffets–a coroner said it’s really not the TYPE of food so much that kills a person, it’s just **TOO MUCH FOOD, **in general. Interesting huh–and quite true too. Our bodies were not made for such.
Well they don’t. This is a fact, and should make all of us think twice before EVER eating at a fast food restaurant that doesn’t use gloves. Only Subway is the only one around here that uses gloves. Once in a hamburger joint drive-thru, I saw some dude wipe his nose then go back to fixing the burgers. EWWWW SO gross.Always hope everyone washes their hands, especially after using the washroom.
I don’t eat Chinese food except on Christmas when I celebrate Jewish Christmas withMy fiance, who loves Chinese buffets, makes note of the fact that at every single one in Raleigh, there is an animal hospital across the street- no joke! He has hypothesized that there is an underground tube connecting the two for a direct supply of cat meat.

I’m not a buffet fan either. I feel so heavy after, and I never get my money’s worth since I’m a light eater. I used to like them when I was little, didn’t care the food was second-rate, and could pack away 4 plates without feeling full or getting fat.
