Have you worked in BK’s marketing department? Have you worked in marketing at all? Maybe BK had an alternative. Maybe they didn’t. You won’t know but it’s certainly not as simple as you make it sound.
No, I have never worked at Burger King and I have never worked at any marketing department. Regardless of whether or not they had alternatives at this time, they would have had alternatives in the future. At this time they easily could have used something to do with Independent Day for a marketing strategy. Something like “Burger King supports our troops.” or something. They did not need to endorse the homosexual agenda which is gravely immoral since it supports “gay marriage” and adoption of children by homosexual “couples”.

“I love my two mommies!”

Brainwashing children, how progressive.

Do they look and taste like regular Whoppers? How do I know which one the guy at the counter is handing me? :tsktsk:

Of course children are inculcated into whatever communities of which they’re a part. Plenty of non-Catholics think we also brainwash children – and in a sense we do. We train and teach them to accept a specific set of values. Just like those supporting gay marriage are doing.

Except that Catholic values reflect reality. Presumably when a child is old enough she will realize that she cannot possibly have two mommies, it being a biological impossibility.

I only WISH that there was some inculcation of Catholic values going on today. Today, most kids believe that accepting devaiant behavior is “tolerant” of them, and tolerance is virtuous. Standing for wholesome Christian values is “intolerant”, and the people who hold fast to those principles are seen as bigots. And bigots are BAD people.
Truth has been stood on its head. Look at the people who are the first to arrive when disaster strikes: usually God-fearing Christians, whom the secularists scorn as haters. In my view, there is a chasm between the value systems of the average Christian and the secularist, and the Christians’ stewardship is second to none. :yup:

I don’t disagree that the values are very different. But there really are children raised by homosexuals who turn out to be healthy and normal. That’s a reality. I don’t hope that a child raised by a single mom who never knows her father realizes one day that her upbringing is a biological impossibility and draws some sort of conclusion about herself from that. I also don’t think that every child raised in such a circumstance then sees it as an ideal family life.

I remember back when I was a teenager and I had not converted to Catholicism but was still involved in Evangelical and Fundamentalist Christianity that I read a book called “Be Intolerant: Because Some Things Are Just Stupid” by Ryan Dobson. I really enjoyed the book. It really makes a good point. There are some things that we should not be tolerant of because they are gravely sinful.

Here’s a link to the book on Amazon:

EDIT: I need to make a correction. I didn’t read this as a teenager. I apparently read it in my early 20s which was 2 years before I became Catholic because Amazon says I bought it in 2004. I became Catholic in 2006.

A tuna fish sanwich walks into a bar. “I’m sorry, Sir”, the bartender sighed, “we don’t serve tuna fish sandwiches”. Rob 🤷
Two peanuts walk into a bar. One was a salted.

They’re not getting scholarships to learn how to date same-sex partners or something. Why is it bad to help send LGBT kids to college, many of whom have parents who absolutely refuse to pay for their college as a result of their sexual orientation?
Totally agree.

Ordinarily I wouldn’t be thrilled about scholarships for LGBT kids and not others, but you’ve got to consider that a disproportionate number of kids might have been abused by their families, maybe even kicked out.

So… you’d rather opt for a highly Republican party line during an event that’s more strongly affiliated with Democrats.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I am so glad I don’t work for you. Good God, here I thought the right wing was more business-minded. Ah well, at least you’ve reduced my faith in another stereotype. 🤷
A lesbian walks in a bar… Oh, never mind.
You want something cruder than that? I’d look around and ask, “Where!?”

This is actually the core of my own jabs at homosexuals (and hence, I’d do a terrible job marketing to them). The fact that I’m amused by this is the reason why I’m glad to NOT work anywhere in SF. :o

The important difference is Catholicism is not simply a set of values competing with other sets of values.

Catholicism is Truth.

We have Catholic Truth; the other sets of values don’t.

What bothers me is that there are no special flags flown or special Whoppers made for other marginalized people (the poor, the deaf, the autistic). There is something slick, mainstream, and commercial about the Gay Pride movement.

“All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”

― George Orwell, Animal Farm

Radical feminist, marriage equality, and reproductive rights groups learned the lessons of Orwell better than we did. If words mean whatever you want them to mean, you can win every argument.

Good point, and nicely made.
