CAF does NOT represents Catholicism

What I have seen is us worshipping God, proclaiming His death and resurrection, welcoming all baptised to share in the Lord’s Supper, fantastic fellowship, visiting the sick, helping the needy and the widows just for starters. I hate to see someone that leaves my church paint it with such a broad brush that it can come off as ill will. There is much love in my church family . Like a family there are disaggreements and we do have our share of nuts.

Point taken and my sincere apology offered. The Anglican church is full of many good people and warm fellowship; that I freely admit.

It is also wracked with division and anger regarding many issues and cultures. Having sat in quite a few meetings where African points of view clashed with extremely liberal, US theology, I can say honestly, I have never seen such fury and rage in “polite society” before or since.

I was invited to attend the conference in the Pittsburgh diocese (well, the dinner afterward to hear Baroness Caroline Cox speak) in 2005, I think. They cussed and discussed, can’t remember what the hot topic was that year, and someone said, “Can we open the cash bar BEFORE we vote on this?” 😃

If they do, I think they will see that many of them are just as bad, or even worse, than CAF.

It wasn’t meant to clear us, so I don’t see that as a real “drawback”.

Well that depends on what we do with it.

If we sit around putting-down those Protestants forums, and patting ourselves on the back for being better than them, then I would say that that isn’t Christian.

No, we are not good representations of the faith. We are good representations of why we need the faith.
 
Well, to get back to the topic, let me say that this site has done more damage to my Catholic faith than anything else I’ve encountered. I am a convert, and some of the things I’ve read here have made me wonder why I bothered converting.

I’ve encountered so many mean-spirited, self-righteous blowhards who are impressed with their supposed learning and erudition, who wave around Church documents and writings of Church fathers around, using them as weapons…And if it turns out these people are right, that they are correctly representing the Church, then I know I made the wrong decision.

You are quite right to question the odd stuff that some posters say about the Catholic Church.

I used to have this quote in my signature, from a This Rock article by Ronald J. Rychlak:
“Not every priest, nun, or other Catholic speaks for the Church. Catholicism is a big tent. There are lots of people inside of it, and not all of them are well informed. Some of them are flat-out wrong.”

Isn’t it up to the CAF hosts to edit these posts? Lord knows, I’ve
been nailed once too often already! 😉 Learned my lesson, too.

Yes, but it helps if they are reported. No mod can keep up with the hundreds of daily posts. I have turned myself in before. 😊

True, we all make mistakes. . .and it is hard to admit that.
Sometimes all our diets need a little dose of humble pie (hard to swallow but great for spiritual digestion) and crow (again, hard to swallow but great for spiritual digestion).

Thanks for reminding us that sometimes we can get so caught up with being right that we turn that ‘righteousness’ into an idol in place of God Himself.

And that sometimes it’s better to listen with the heart AND mind before responding with the tongue.

Very True…

But lets not 4get the fact of the work done by CAF in somehow promoting ’ authentic ’ catholic faith ( via its posters )…yes we do have :mad: commotions, full circle 🤷 discussions, topic derailments:p , confusions:confused: , & yet finally enlightment 👍 of some sort (:eek: 4 others )…

But This is how a forum should be, Speak up (albeit following rules) boldly whether yes/no, cause all of us here sometimes are like kids having sibling rivalry…some are angry, some are happy & only when things really go outta hand does ma/pa (moderators)😃 come in…And yet finally after everything, ***someone somewhere has learnt something :cool: ***

I have to say This site & CAF has surely done so much 4 the catholic faith that only heaven knows of its reach…Long live CAF, Long Live The Faith !!!
