CAF does NOT represents Catholicism

This is just a general reply to anyone following this thread. I think that the little cartoon in post #5 of this topic about says it all. It well describes many Catholics, and many Protestants, and many other human beings. I wouldn’t relegate any of the negative sentiments in this topic, or anywhere else at CAF to just Catholics; nor would I assume these negative or derogatory things to correctly represent Catholicism.

I will say one thing; I will be laughing for quite a while about that cartoon! it was great!! So yes. CAF even “helps” Protestants by making us laugh sometimes - and we all know that the Bible says laughter is like a medicine!! Thanks for a good dose of it!! 👍 👍
 
There are mean people everywhere and my 2 cents is when a “mean” person shows his horns in a post a layperson should step up and say… " hey that was not called for" or “you are getting to aggressive”. etc.

Secondly, in all seriousness you do realize that the Roman Catholic Church isn’t “full of people like that”, don’t you? I mean, even if 100% of the Catholic posters on the Catholic Answers Forum were clones of each other w.r.t. attitudes and opinions (which isn’t the case, but that’s a whole other can of worms) it would tell you absolutely nothing about the attitudes and opinions of Catholics in general (nothing conclusive anyhow).

What does Huckleberry Finn have to do with anything? 🤷

If your going to make a forum for Catholics to gather, it should be somewhat a representitive of the Catholics. I am 100% sure in my words, if the church was full or even half-full of people like Rob then I would surely rather burn in hell.

Don’t you remember, somewhere early in the book, he says that the widow told him about the good place (heaven) and the bad place (hell) and that she wanted him to live so as to go to the good place, but he didn’t see much point in it because she would be there.

Should be? Yes – just like all Christians should be united, and should only vote for good politicians (not to mention any names), and the TV show “Vanished” should not have been cancelled … well, you get the idea.

Or as the steward in A Man For All Seasons said: “I wish we could all have good luck, all the time. I wish we had wings. I wish rainwater was beer. But it isn’t.”

Of course, if we ask how the world is (not how it should be) we see that a great many Catholics (including – or should I say especially – many who are on the internet) are misinformed about what the Church teaches.

But then, if the world were just as it “should be”, there’d be no need for a “Catholic Answers Forum” in the first place.

hmm… who was it that said “I’d rather reign in hell then serve in heaven”…

Adding silly hyperbole to juvenile name calling isn’t helping your case here. How is Christ glorified by your comment? What good can come of it?

Ideally, I agree with you. We should be light and salt at all times, in all places. however, don’t be put off by the meanness of people, and especially to the degree that you would consider turning away from God’s Truth. God is able to heal Rob, and make him into the image and likeness of Christ. this indeed should be our prayer for one another, and especially when someone is offensive. Remember Jesus said we need to forgive our brother 70 x 7 (and infinite number of times) and that, unless we forgive our brother from our heart, He will not forgive us either. This is how we become purified, by people in our lives that are like sandpaper.
 
I agree with the premise of this thread.

Normal people do not argue Christianity over the internet.

Whatever it was that was said that you were responding to (and quite frankly I don’t have any interest in going back and seeing it again) saying that you’d rather be in hell than in heaven with that kind of person is a little over-the-top.

There will always be a few irritating people on any internet board. That has nothing to do with religion. Instead, look at the many people who have helped you on this board. Have you acknowledged them? People have defended you. Your hostile posts were edited, but you were allowed your views and you weren’t banned, like you feared you might be in a post you sent me. Most of us have answered your questions in a spirit of friendship. All-in-all, this board allows for a remarkable freedom of expression from all sides, and sometimes, that means a few unpleasant people get through. It seems clear from talking to you that you seem to be looking for something stable. You always seem to be ready for a fight, and that is indicative of something in your personal life that’s an issue and that you’re trying to solve. I wish you luck with that. In the meantime, we are happy to help answer your questions about Catholicism.

I spent three hours one-on-one with ChristianKnight last night while he watched a Mass on Youtube and then the EWTN 11 pm Mass, explaining the various parts as it went along. I think it served to answer a lot of questions. I was happy to do it. For every person that you might have a problem with on here, there are ten others that are willing to go the extra mile and explain things.

lol? I don’t remember ever name calling but ok.

I never said it glorified Christ, sorry if you think I did.
