As we’ve seen those people will twist anything to make it suit their purposes.Taken in the context of what Cain was saying, it ought to have been clear to anyone without a political agenda exatly what he was meaning.
I have a hard time with anyone able bodied person born in the US being labeled a “victim”. For the most part they’ve already won life’s lottery.Oh, so you know why he chose to blame the victim? At least that makes one of us.
He needs to advocate for the Galveston County Plan:As you wish. I believe your wrong on both accounts.
Ron Paul…
Q: Are you still in favor of abolishing Social Security?
A: Yes, but not overnight. As a matter of fact, my program’s the only one that is going to be able to take care of the elderly. I’d like to get the young people out of it, just the younger generation, because there’s no money there, and they’re going to have to pay 50 years and they’re not going to get anything. I’d take care of all the elderly, all those who are dependent, but I would save the money from this wild spending overseas.
I think we need to offer the kids the chance to get out. But right now, if we don’t save the money, we can’t take care of the other. I never voted to spend one penny of Social Security money. So I’m the one that has saved it. I say take that money–and I say this constantly–don’t turn anybody out on the streets–people we have conditioned–but I would say take care of the people that are dependent on us. The only way you can do that is cut spending. If we don’t, they’re all going to be out in the street. Because right now Social Security beneficiaries are getting 2% raises, but their cost of living is going up 10%. A dollar crisis is going to wipe them all out.
When it comes to Social Security and Medicare, the federal government simply won’t be able to keep its promises in the future. That is the reality every American should get used to, despite the grand promises of Washington reformers. Our entitlement system can’t be reformed–it’s too late. And the Medicare prescription drug bill is the final nail in the coffin–costing at least $1 trillion in the first decade alone, and much more in following decades as the American population grows older

Agreed.MSM is furiously trying to dig up any dirt on Cain, and denigrating his life’s work by referring to him a a pizza man, etc. That ought to tell you who they are most afraid of and who can actually win the white house.:doh2:
The term “victim” has earned a bad name but I have to say that even though the status might be misused, dismissing it as a ‘label’ implies that everything which happens to a person is brought on by themselves - pretty much the attitude Cain seemed to be taking with regard to unemployment and poverty. This of course, absolves other parties of wrongdoing (or responsibility to assist) - perhaps the whole point of the exercise…I have a hard time with anyone able bodied person born in the US being labeled a “victim”. Its your interpretation. Most of what happens is not of our own doing, but it’s how we react and what we choose to do about it that separates the responsible ones from the “victims”. Whining and complaining helps no one.The term “victim” has earned a bad name but I have to say that even though the status might be misused, dismissing it as a ‘label’ implies that everything which happens to a person is brought on by themselves - pretty much the attitude Cain seemed to be taking with regard to unemployment and poverty. I get it - the unemployed who can’t find a job or a way to employ themselves should just be quiet about it.Its your interpretation. Speaking as a 65 year old woman whose job was downsized 3 years ago after working years to earn a very good living, since then I have been able to work in three different jobs and am currently employed for over one year steadily. Did I have to sell my home and get a much smaller and lower cost place to live? YES. Did I have to change my lifestyle and stop spending money on things like eating out, entertainment, new clothing, etc? YES! Do I earn about 50% less today than I did 3 years ago? YES!. Do I get down on my knees and thank God every day and night that I am at least able to work? Absolutely!. This is what I mean by attitude controlling destiny. I see people on the TV complaining that they’ve been out of work for 3 or 4 years. I think they just won’t roll up their sleeves and take what they can get in the current economic situation. Through no fault of their own, they may have lost a job. But, its hard for me to look at a bright, articulate, able bodied young person and empathize with them about their terrible plight in life. There are still plenty of jobs to give one a sense of pride of accomplishment out there. If I can find a job so easily in an area with much higher than average unemployment, I am pretty sure I am not some type of “lucky” person.I get it - the unemployed who can’t find a job or a way to employ themselves should just be quiet about it.
I think you assume wrong. Government has no business in matters such as this whatsoever, and we are in the mess we are in with abortion because government interferred and passed RvW which was bad law. I think Cain would be happy to sign a law prohibiting or restricting abortion if it ever hit his desk.I will not be voting for Cain after his comments in which he basically said that the government has no right to interfere in a woman’s choice of whether or not to get an abortion. This, in essence, tells me that he is not willing to sign any pro-life laws that restrict or eliminate abortion.
I would say it’s too early to throw in the towel. He IS against defunding Planned Parenthood, which is the exact opposite of the current administration.I will not be voting for Cain after his comments in which he basically said that the government has no right to interfere in a woman’s choice of whether or not to get an abortion. You may just be. I have found that the unemployed do hold one or more “odd jobs” but they are unable to meet their basic needs. One can downsize only so much; if I have 3 children to raise, do I give them up for adoption?Speaking as a 65 year old woman whose job was downsized 3 years ago after working years to earn a very good living, since then I have been able to work in three different jobs and am currently employed for over one year steadily. No, he won’t. He said abortion is a family decision, and he does not want to be involved. Herman Cain is personally pro-life, but he does not want to interfere with a woman’s right to make the decisions that are best for her. Listen to his responses. They depend on the audience in front of him.I think you assume wrong. Don’t think Cain is just on a book tour. He left an almost 7 figure opportunity to join the campaign, so please don’t be so quick to negate him. He probably will not get the nomination, but to say he would not sign a bill abolishing or restricting abortion if it hit his desk is simply supposition and not correct. I have heard him speak many times before he ever thought about running for president and I am absolutely convinced that he is pro-life.No, he won’t. Besides, it doesn’t matter. He’s on a book tour, and has no chance of getting the nomination.

In my opinion, if he has NO chance of getting the nomination, then he’s on a book tour. But it could turn into a FOX show a la Palin.Don’t think Cain is just on a book tour. A platform doesn’t trump a candidate. Seems like his problem is that he locked himself into a “government should be out of people’s lives” position. Anyone who does that sets himself up for a pro-choice accusation given the right circumstances. Ron Paul ran as a libertarian candidate which basically has a pro-choice position but no one ever questioned Ron Paul on his pro-life position. In my opinion, if he has NO chance of getting the nomination, then he’s on a book tour. But it could turn into a FOX show a la Palin.
I am also convinced that he is pro-life. But he does not want to be involved in personal family decisions. Abortion is a personal family decision. He believes that the decision to have an abortion is a family matter. Therefore, he is not “really” pro-life according to the platform of the so-called Republican party.
Why do you care whether Cain is pro life or not, when I believe you have said on another thread you will vote for Obama? In my opinion, if he has NO chance of getting the nomination, then he’s on a book tour. But it could turn into a FOX show a la Palin.
