Married a second wife while off visiting the parents huh?

And he had ‘no idea’ this was going to happen? RIGHT!

The man was Moslem through and through. Disregarded his Christian wife just like any Moslem man would.

Back on topic. I wouldn’t let my 18 year old Catholic daughter marry a 27 year old Catholic man!!!

BTW, a good man at 27 would NEVER ask to marry an 18 year old!!!

That should tell you what kind of man he is:eek:
i m sure like christians and jews the muslims honor their mother and father what else was he to do ,be disobediant …not all marriages that are of different faiths end up in disasters most end till death do you part and that could be years years years away…like christians ,jews , not all muslims know there religion 100% they just know some of the basic tennants of their faith ,also there are a lot of secular muslims as well as secular christians and jews. 😛 stan.

Any marriage (I don’t care what religion) should put their spouse first. How would a husband like for his wife to marry another man because her parents felt she was better off?

Gotta run both ways then.😉

my other BIG problem would be if im understanding you correctly, you said he was only here for a few weeks, are your crazy, in a few weeks there is no way you can see what a persons like. have you ever seen him angry, have you seen his moods. there is no way you can know what a person is like by only being around them 2 weeks. and i dont care if you go there or not for a week or so or whatever there is no way to tell what they are truely like. once he gets a hold of your daughter and she is his wife you cant even help her. there was a movie with salley field watch it. It was a true movie i thinks its called not without my daughter. I understand this is tv but its a true story. Please you and your daughter please watch it.

i would rather have my 18 yr old daughter married than her having experimental sex out of wedlock… plus 9yrs age difference isnt that great of a gap anyway…im sure the parents wouldnt marry her off right away they would wait awhile… let them date a year or two and then see what happens after that …and if they marry …the mother and father can have her married in a catholic church in syria ,if he lovers her he wouldnt mind also if his parents attended that would prove they are not out to convert everybody to islam…😛 stan

cont.
Your Sex Life

Islam considers the wife a sex object. "your wives are as a tilth (a field to be ploughed) unto you, so approach your tilth when or how ye will " Surah 2:223
Your Children

Your children have to be raised according to their Muslim father’s religion: Islam. If he divorces you, he gets custody of the children, and you wouldn’t be able to see your children again. The Sharia (Islamic Law) states that in mixed marriages “the children will follow the better of the two religions of their parents”, which in your case is considered Islam. The Quran states that Islam is the only true religion, “The religion before Allah is Islam” Surah 3:19. Non Muslims can not act as protectors to Muslims, “O ye who believe; take not for friends (protectors) unbelievers rather than believers” Surah 4:144

Your Future

Should you survive your Muslim husband, and his wealth is in an Islamic country, the Islamic law will apply. The wife who has not converted to Islam gets nothing, the wife who has converted to Islam gets very little. According to the Quran a Muslim wife does not inherit all her husband’s wealth. If the husband dies and he leaves no children, she gets a fourth of his wealth, his parents, brothers, uncles…etc will get the rest. If the deceased husband leaves children, then the wife gets an eighth, the children get the rest; the male child gets double the portion of the female. “In what ye leave, their (wives) share is a fourth if you leave no child; but if you leave a child, they (wives) get an eighth ; after payment of legacies and debts.” Surah 4:12

Before You Say "I DO"

Before you commit yourself to marry a Muslim, it is a good idea to examine the motives behind it. While your motive may be love, his motive could be just to obtain a “Green Card”.
I know, they say “love is blind”, I hope however that this message will serve as an eye- opener for you. You may say that your husband-to-be is a non-practicing Muslim. But let’s not forget that Islam is more than a religion; it includes a complete legal code for Muslims and non- Muslims to follow in an Islamic State. In case of a dispute between you and him, all he needs to do to get the upper hand over you is to travel to an Islamic country.

If you are still in doubt about this, may I suggest that you see the movie “Not without my daughter” which is based on a true life story of an American woman who married a Muslim man. Other similar movies are: “Princess, Dreams of Trespass, and The Stoning of Soraya M?”
This may be a life-saving experience. The lives you will save are your own, and those of your future children. “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?” 2 Corinthians 6:14

Vickie
Vickie know so very well in islamic law or shariah law… what vickie say is totally correct… but the problem is people keep convert to islam and follow the warrior man. i don’t know why… they deny the princes of peace Jesus… … to OP daughter i know how to say… to OP the mother… how about i call you mom i treat you and your daughter good, i take care of your daughter would u let your daughter marry me… ???..

this is the big question you need to explain to your daughter…

Deo gratias… Iesus Christum, Gloria patre.

You act as though marriage or sex out of wedlock are the only options.

That’s like saying I’d rather be stabbed than shot.

How about instead of those two, the girl completely writes off the man, not go and visit his family (which gives licit support to the daughter’s cause whether the mother acknolwedges it or not), enjoys being 18 and in college, and eventually date a Catholic man her own age who will:
  1. respect her
  2. enhance her faith
  3. raise her children with a Catholic and Western upbringing
  4. Live with her here in the United States
To be honest, it is laughable that anyone on here with children would support this idea. I am not even married and find it inconceivable.

one other major thought that just came to mind. now i know this is a gray area and i dont want to start a debate on right and wrong about the war because that is completely off the subject… but… Could you imagine being american, it was bad enough before over there im sure, but now. those people hate us. could you imagine how they are going to treat us now. there is no way i would leave the country now. And then on top of it going to a place full of muslims. there is no way i would even think of letting my daughter go, alone the whole family. Now im not talking for all of them and im sure there are many that are good people and im not judging them or their religion as i said i dont know enough about them but on the same token 911 is still fresh in my mind. And now with the war and us having our loved ones killed every day and in their defense they are having their loved ones killed also. But the point is i am not seeing alot of Love going around at the moment. Our love for them or their love for us

here in chicago i deal with a lot of catholics from depaul university trust me when i say, i rather have my 18 yr old married than attend a catholic university, alcohol, drugs, party party almost non stop…the depaul university trust me hasnt enhanced anybodys faith,my opinion they lose what little faith they had,and i lived in the city 30 some years seen it all almost all…😛

Not marrying the man does NOT mean she will have experimental sex!
… plus 9yrs age difference isnt that great of a gap anyway
Yes it really is a great gap. A 33% gap actually. She’s still a teenager BTW
…im sure the parents wouldnt marry her off right away they would wait awhile… let them date a year or two and then see what happens after that …and if they marry …the mother and father can have her married in a catholic church in syria ,if he lovers her he wouldnt mind also if his parents attended that would prove they are not out to convert everybody to islam…😛 stan
Yeah. Maybe she could start dating him after she grows up.

18 year olds should be dating in their own age range.

If the Muslim agrees to raise the children as Catholics. Personally though, I prefer if you daughter marries a Catholic man. Not a Muslim.
Not a chance. His religion forbids such an oath, and if he made, he would be bound by Islam to break it.

Why be unevenly yoked?

there you have it then if he cant let the children be catholic then the answer to the question is answered NO. That and the hundred of thousand of other reasons. that one is simple cut and dry.

There is NOTHING wrong with marrying outside the faith. In marriage, people must be able to talk to each other and help each other grow in faith, but if a Christian and a Muslim are married, they can still do this! They would get to use interfaith Dialougue and go to Liturgical services together, and could enjoy praising God,each in their own way.God would surely like that-He loves for ALL people to be friends.I am 100% sure that this is true, because my aunt is a devout Catholic and has been married to a Muslim for more then 26 years, and the Muslim is my favourite uncle & my godfather, and he serves Allah and my aunt serves Jesus, and they enjoy having diversity. So you see,if this man is a good person, there is no reason at all why your daughter shouldnt marry him.
How, praytell, is a muslim your GODFATHER?

Did he say the Nicene Creed or the Shahadah (there is no God but God, and Muhammad is His messenger)?

The threads are not enough to take all the disaster stories. I have to admit, I’m biased, as the Orthodox Church will not yoke any Orthodox with the unbaptized.

I have a suggestion. You said he was interested in moving here. Let it be so then. How about marriage potential after her college graduation. Sounds like a degree is something that has value to her.

This way, she can experience college, meet some college age folks ( and possibly fall for one 😃 ).

I feel for your situation. God bless and grant you peace as this unfolds.

Though as a parent myself, this man is too old for her and trouble.
I’m not so sure I’d recommend the college solution. Have you seen what goes on there? It gives the muslims plenty to justifibly point out.

Actually they can’t get married in a church (of any kind) in Syria: it’s illegal.

I would say, the age difference is something cultural, not moral.

Why such a dogmatic statement?

I WOULD NEVER CONDONE SUCH A MARRIAGE.

I think it’s clear why he wants to marry your daughter…PASSPORT…CITIZENSHIP.

Frankly, I can’t even believe your daughter wants to marry him. Why doesn’t she want to marry a Catholic? If her faith is so important to her then surely she would want to raise a good Catholic family.

The Muslim will never convert…they’re all brainwashed to believe that the bible has been corrupted and that the crucifiction was a lie.

There will be problems if the marriage goes ahead. He may not want his children to be Catholic. He may want to use contraception. He may want your daughter to convert etc etc.

Simply put: THIS IS A BAD IDEA.

Personally, I would never want to marry a non Catholic. If I am going to live the faith, then I need a loving spouse who believes in what I do. For example, I could not in good conscience use contraception. In order to live this way, I will need to marry a good Catholic woman.

Why would you want your daughter married off so young?

Regardless of his race or religion - as a mother - if i were in your shoes i would find it a touch unsettling… Actually, maybe disturbing is the better word. I know my husband would flip out if this happened to us and he would tell this nice man to kindly set his eyes upon someone else’s daughter.

Your daughter claims that she loves this man? Does she really know what love is? or is this fascination, daydreaming or just plain immaturity because this man is telling her what she wants to hear? OK, so they have been emailing eachother for 4 years? How did you ever allow that to start? Emailing a man 9 years older than herself when she was only 14? I am sorry, but i just don’t get it?

Maybe he is genuine? If he is - let him prove it to you and come to the US with *his *family to meet you. OR are you going to Syria because that is where your 18 year old daughter will be residing? Maybe the whole family could move over to support her as quite possibly, she will have no support network or friends over there apart from his family, if she were to live there in the future.

Watched a documentary the other night about Muslim mother in laws belting their daughter in laws. It happens ALOT! The wives have no voice. The MIL’s have the say, the wives have no rights. Their sons are perfect in their eyes. Some of these women set themselves alight as that is the only way to get out of their situation… It was in Afghanistan i think, i know that is not Syria, but still they were Moslem. Not saying that all Moslem MIL’s would be like that, but it makes you think twice, or at least it should in my opinion.

Prayers headed your way.

Seriously, I cannot think of a worse possible scenerio, especially in these times. Why anyone in their right mind would even consider marrying a moslem is beyond me. And all the red flags! C’mon mom, get real. You had better sit this girl down and tell her like it is. A few months of “bliss” and a lifetime of heartache and repression. That is what she is in for.
I agree. Totally.
Movie i recommend watching…
Not without my daughter, sally field is in it.
It is a true story; I remember when it came out, the interview with the woman who actually lived this Bestsmileys.com.
Not a chance. His religion forbids such an oath, and if he made, he would be bound by Islam to break it.
This is true. He will lie, no matter how “nice” he seems. Islam requires lies to “unbelievers” (i.e., anyone who isn’t a Muslim).

Now. The age thing.
Let me tell you a little story. When I was in my teens, I fell for an older guy. I thought he was wonderful. I ignored everybody’s advice.
I finally got smart, after a lot of heartache.I broke up with him, over the phone, because I was afraid of him…
He was in another state, in the military. He came back. I was in the house alone. The door was locked. He broke in.
I was lucky. I was able to scream for help out the upstairs window to the neighbors. (My grandmother’s sewing shears, jabbing, & pointed straight at his crotch may have helped a bit, too…Naive yes; but also feisty).
This guy was only a** Baptist**! For a:eek: Muslim?? I’m thinking that I’d be raped & dead by now. That was, after all, the idea.

Oh, yeah: Did I mention, threatening phone calls for **four **freaking years after this??? That only stopped when he landed in prison in another country.

Tell him to take a long, long walk off a short pier. This guy is beyond trouble. He’s a disaster.
