SuperLuigi:
The problem with voting third party:
The reasons to vote third party:
The major parties must be responsible for reprehensible nominations.
More candidates mean more choice of a morally superior candidate.
The need to break the bipartisan death grip the two parties have on our country.
Brilliant.

The glory of most parliamentary systems is that no one party is large enough to rule government by itself. It absolutely must compromise with others as it never has a majority on an issue without cooperation with other parties.

A two-party system bastardizes the democratic republic.

Have you seen the GOP Congressman who was a staunch “pro lifer” and yet forced his mistress to get an abortion?

The hypocrisy lives loudly within many of the GOP.

I’d have to see proof of this. In the year since Trump has been elected, abortion clinics have been closing? Are these because of changes to federal policy, or due to changes at the state level? Have the number of abortions decreased at a proportionate rate, or are abortions being procured in different locations as a result? How many closed in the year prior, i.e. is this a new trend or a continuing trend?

distributing wealth to only the rich
estimated 45.3 percent of American households — roughly 77.5 million — will pay no federal individual income tax, according to data for the 2015 tax year from the Tax Policy Center,
when a person doesn’t pay any income tax, how can they be upset when others that do have their taxes reduced?

what church teaching requires government to forcibly take money from someone and give it to someone else.

individuals are supposed to give from the heart not by the force of the irs

Well, in fairness, most of the tithes you read about in the OT where for the support of the governmental functions of the Kingdom of Israel. Back when “church and state” were the same thing.

And we have Christ telling us to “render unto Caesar”.

So to your question, I’m not sure we have an official teaching that states “the government can forcibly take money and give it to someone else”, but there seems to be some merit for the idea that the government can levy taxes that you must pay in order to carry out its functions…

As others have mentioned, there are a lot of objectionable things in the Democratic Party platform, but the worst is being pro-abortion … expressed in the mildest set of terms, i.e., “pro-choice”.

Previously I had posted the abortion “plank” of the Democratic Party platform.

I will attempt to refind it.

Please note also that the Democratic Party is also a really big supporter of the giant performer of abortions: Planned Parenthood. And hugely supports government financing of Planned Parenthood.

How can you spend what you do not have? It must be produced first.

I think folks should also consider that 1-in-5 democrats are still “pro-life” and 1-in-3 republicans are “pro-choice”.

Party affiliation is steadily becoming irrelevant on the issue.

That’s not really true.

80% of Democrats, by your statement, are pro-abortion.

It’s true according to Pew. Pew - Abortion

22% of Dems are pro-life, trending downward. 34% of Reps are pro-choice, trending upward.

Another 12% of Republicans switching with make them a dominantly pro-choice party as well. This is likely to happen, imo

“pro-life” and “pro-choice”.
we should really frame it as pro-life or pro-death, why give them the out calling it choice?

i prefer anti-abortion and pro-abortion

the dnc chair doesn’t agree with you including his own party members.

Perez said. “The biggest threat to women’s reproductive rights is the relentless Republican attacks on women’s health care, including legal, accessible abortion services. And I won’t let anyone get in the way of our fight to protect a woman’s right to choose.”

Probably because we don’t get to frame the argument for our opposition.
In a free society, this is a good thing.

Related to the above, I’m sure we agree that any one Republican or Democrat doesn’t get to frame the issues for all other Reps or Dems, even if they’re the Party Chair [read: Head Fund-raiser].

I’m sure there are things that past Rep party chairs said that you’re not 100% on-board with. I’m sure there are things being said by the current Rep President that you’re not on-board with.

Luckily, we agree that they don’t get to frame the discussion for you.

Democrat doesn’t get to frame the issues for all other Reps or Dems, even if they’re the Party Chair
didn’t work that way in the last election. if the dnc and hillary had not colluded against bernie he may have beat trump.

many of the pro-life dems have been told they will not be supported and as you know economics is very important in winning an election

The more money in the hands of those of us in the bottom 90%, the more money is circulated through the economy. We spend what we have, for the most part. Concentrating wealth at the top does not get money moving through the economy.

Trump is the only rep candidate who could have beaten Hillary. Conversely, any other dem candidate would likely beat Trump.

I find I have been voting more and more against candidates than voting for candidates.

Isn’t that the tragic truth?
