Good post, let’s not forget these also.
Point being, to me, it is fairly clear, this doesn’t say “all men were born equal”, it says “created equal”, that really speaks to conception to me.

Let’s first see some true pro-life Democrats, ones who openly fight their party on their pro-abortion stance. Let’s see some pro-life Democrat politicians vote to give power to the Republican party when their party pushes abortion at every turn. But how do you convince Dems to change if you won’t support pro-life Dems when they do show up?
Pertinent to this topic too is the fact 2 former DemocratIC of the Louisiana legislature changed party affiliation to Republican. I know of 1 but I’m rather 2 changed. Oh, and for whatever significance it has, these two politicians were not white.Let’s first see some true pro-life Democrats, ones who openly fight their party on their pro-abortion stance. Let’s see some pro-life Democrat politicians vote to give power to the Republican party when their party pushes abortion at every turn.
A “pro-life” Democrat politcian who votes into power the Democratic Party leadership is not pro-life.
So you saw an inarticulate Republican on TV and that justifies voting for pro-abortion candidates? That’s a gross oversimplification.
I don’t vote for the Republicans because I believe their policies are bad for our country. However, that’s not to say that I always vote for the Democratic candidate.
On the issue of abortion, I oppose the GOP on this issue because their focus is on supply and not on demand. I believe their policies are the weakest in terms of negating the reasons why women seek abortions in the first place. So while Republicans talk a good game, their policies don’t address the reasons why. And I recall the Ohio Republican lawmaker who was asked during an interview “Why do you think women have abortions?” He paused for a moment and then said “I don’t know. I guess I’ve never really thought about it.” Brilliant.
Having counseled in a CPC for may years I do have some insight into this. The primary reason women have abortion is that the child is coming at an inconvenient time(either for them, the Father of the child or their parents) and out culture has taught them that killing the child is an acceptable alternative to removing this inconvenience. The top reasons sited for having an abortion are convenience and relationship issues. How do you legislate people not be selfish and/or not have sex with people they don’t want to have children with? Those are issues better addressed by laity and religious, not politicians.
There have been some presented already in this thread.Let’s first see some true pro-life Democrats, ones who openly fight their party on their pro-abortion stance. Let’s see some pro-life Democrat politicians vote to give power to the Republican party when their party pushes abortion at every turn.

I don’t know.Which party does he empower while a member of Congress? Which party does he vote to hold the control of the HOR?
I agree. Parties whose very essence (e.g Marxism) depends on something contrary to the faith, and parties that have no chance of reforming shouldn’t have Catholic members. So if your only two options at the local level are the Nazi Party and the Communist Party, it’s okay to belong to the Nazi Party?!?!
Of course not. When a political party has gone so far down the trail in its support and cooperation with evil, it is simply inexcuseable to belong to that party. There is no acceptable reason why you belong to the party.
So the “hatred of the Democrat party” you speak of results in spelling a word differently. The hatred of the GOP we speak of results in turning a blind eye to the killing of the unborn. You reserve criticism for the former. I haven’t noticed much about the latter. The Democratic Party.
THe use of that term demonstrates a lack of objectivity in providing feedback regarding the question of the OP.
You speak of “hatred of the GOP” and show a disdain (hatred perhaps) of the Democratic Party. How can folks tryst that you you provide non-biased feedback drawing on only doctrinal questions when you refuse to use the accurate name of the Party?
It’s not a matter of convincing dems to change. It’s a matter of getting Catholics to put their faith before politics. Judging from this thread is say we have our work cut out for us: it seems the unborn are down the list - after misspelling the word Democrat. But how do you convince Dems to change if you won’t support pro-life Dems when they do show up?
I’ll give you a hint: The party starts with the letter “D”, and ends with “emocratic”. Or in other words, the pro-abortion party.I don’t know.![]()
Is there a source for that or is it just a guess?I’ll give you a hint: The party starts with the letter “D”, and ends with “emocratic”. Or in other words, the pro-abortion party.
That’s who he caucauses with. It’s not a secret. Is there a source for that or is it just a guess?
Or, as Cardinal Burke laments, the Party of DeathI’ll give you a hint: The party starts with the letter “D”, and ends with “emocratic”. Or in other words, the pro-abortion party.
It the usual attempt to derail the thread into a semantics argument-much easier to argue semantics than defend the democrat Partys support of Abortion, homosexual marriage and forcing Nuns to buy contraceptionSo the “hatred of the Democrat party” you speak of results in spelling a word differently. The hatred of the GOP we speak of results in turning a blind eye to the killing of the unborn. You reserve criticism for the former. I haven’t noticed much about the latter.
And I’d like an answer: do you think the unborn are worthy of protection by the law?

That’s Democratic…get it rightIt’s not a matter of convincing dems to change. It’s a matter of getting Catholics to put their faith before politics. Judging from this thread is say we have our work cut out for us: it seems the unborn are down the list - after misspelling the word Democrat.

One wonders what the aha moment will be for the Democrat Catholics on this forum. Democrat Catholics: just how much more pro abortion would the democrat party have to get in order for you all to reconsider voting for them?It looks like Bishop Tobin switched from Democrat to Republican 08/22/2013. The article is printed this month
As he put it
"“The aha moment for me was the 2012 Democratic Party Convention. It was just awful,” Bishop Tobin told the GOP gathering, while noting that he had been a Democrat since 1969. “I just said that, ‘I can’t be associated structurally with that group,’ in terms of abortion and NARAL and Planned Parenthood and [the] same-sex ‘marriage’ agenda and cultural destruction I saw going on.”

The question I would ask the bishop,
This is not new knowledge for you about the Democratic party platform. This has been the democratic party platform for decades. What took you so long to do something about your own position?
:yup: “created!”Good post, let’s not forget these also.
