In the Book of TOBIT in the Catholic version of the Bible,
there was a demon Asmodeus who killed six of Sarah
(a daughter of Israel) 's husbands on their wedding night!!
Also a destroying Angel wiped out 70,000 or so men of
Israel!! 2 Samuel 24:16

Of course there are many instances where things that happen may be questionable as to the source. I think nobody should be too quick to doubt or too quick to believe. Sometimes it is just impossible to know for sure if demonic things are taking place or not. I would say that in the case of the Gary demon house, I myself would never want to live there. There could be some truth in it as well as some fallacy. Some people are trained demonologists who can spot a fake a mile away.

I don’t think demons ask God’s permission to harass someone. I think it might be a trial and error situation. The demon hates someone and decides to attack. If God puts a stop to it, the evil spirit cannot continue. Maybe God nips these things in the bud most of the time, and why the devil is let loose on someone is a question that is hard to answer.

Nothing in all of history has ever occurred without God’s permission, including Satan’s rebellion. Demons have free will. Because of their free will, they are permitted to attack us by various means.

There is indeed a spiritual war taking place. God has provided us with guardian angels, all the angels and saints, and of course a loving and powerful Spiritual Mother to defend us. Our souls and some aspects of our lives are in the balance.

God’s permission is one thing. The demons are allowed to attack or whatever but they (the demons) do not ask for permission. The demons try to do whatever but when God won’t let them that means they can’t. God won’t allow it. If demons could do whatever they want and God did not intervene, things would be even worse.

The devil and demons can not kill you , as they have no authority.

They will try and trick your soul away from God. That is their true purpose as we have all been warned already about.

Only God has authority over life and death.

Remember also some of the greatest Saint’s , had inner demons.

Did Jesus not pray for Peter ?

From my experience I believe sometimes there is a greater good by allowing the attacks. I would have never come back into the Church if it didn’t happen to my wife and I. And for my wife, who was raised without a faith and never went to church, she would have never found her faith without the attack. We went from being very secular sinners to saintly in one night. And why did it happen when it did. One week later i got a call from my mother, my father had cancer. God knew my father needed a faithful son and daughter in-law to help him and my mother. And all my life I was a thorn in my father’s side, with my new found faith we were as close as we had ever been for the little time he had left.

We never know God’s plan, He has a different view than we have. He let Satan get after Peter because He knew it wouldn’t strengthen Peter and in turn Peter would strengthen the others.

You are wrong that demons can not kill you. Maybe they do not pull the trigger, but their actions can most definitely kill a person. They can get in people’s heads and make them do things that cause death and destruction.

Suppose a drug dealer gives a person some drugs laced with stronger than usual substances, they do not shoot those drugs into the users arm but they have killed the person because THEY KNEW that person was an addict. You see, the demons KNOW, they are far more intellegent than us and have been around since the world began.

They kill alright, but just like Hitler, and even Margret Sanger, they have ways of getting others to do their dirty work. Who here would not call Hitler a killer?

And had you seen my wife the night of the attack we experienced, I assure you, you would have a different point of view.

Consider Job…

12 Then the Lord said to Satan: Behold, all that he hath is in thy hand: only put not forth thy hand upon his person. And Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord.

13 Now upon a certain day when his sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in the house of their eldest brother,

14 There came a messenger to Job, and said: The oxen were ploughing, and the asses feeding beside them,

15 And the Sabeans rushed in, and took all away, and slew the servants with the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell thee.

16 And while he was yet speaking, another came, and said: The fire of God fell from heaven, and striking the sheep and the servants, hath consumed them, and I alone have escaped to tell thee.

17 And while he also was yet speaking, there came another, and said: The Chaldeans made three troops, and have fallen upon the camels, and taken them, moreover they have slain the servants with the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell thee.

18 He was yet speaking, and behold another came in, and said: Thy sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in the house of their elder brother:

19 A violent wind came on a sudden from the side of the desert, and shook the four corners of the house, and it fell upon thy children and they are dead, and I alone have escaped to fell thee.

So God allowed it, and Satan killed Job’s family.
Therefore demons can kill.

This is wrong on so many levels. To name a few of the big issues:

Satan is not a demon.
The Satan figure in Job is not the Satan we identify today as the leader of the fallen angels.
Job is a parable.

You do know Job was a prophet ?

Please tell me Christians today are not being told Job was simply a parable and not a Prophet of God.

The Old Testament is as important as the new.

Demons cannot kill a person. No where in the Bible is this written.

Where do you get such facts from…

The form of the work is not related to its importance. And, yes, Job is a parable.

How do you come about saying that Satan is not a demon?

from the Catechism:
Scripture and the Church’s Tradition see in this being a fallen angel, called “Satan” or the “devil”. The Church teaches that Satan was at first a good angel, made by God: “The devil and the other demons were indeed created naturally good by God, but they became evil by their own doing.”
If you mean specifically that the character Satan from the Book of Job is not a demon, can you site your source? I think traditionally it is understood to indeed be the same individual.

TMC I am not sure who is teaching you Gods knowledge, but they are misleading you by saying Job was not a prophet.

Even Islam hold him as a Prophet.

There is no evidence who actually wrote the book but Job is mentioned in other books. So it’s safe to assume he was real not fiction.

The old testament books Tobit and Job provide examples of demons taking human life. Although both stories may be allegories, they are God’s word.

Some Catholic theologies (Fr. Ripperger) teach that because of the way that Adam and Eve fell, they ceded dominion over the physical world to Satan. Satan’s dominion includes our physical bodies.

MtnDwellar what’s your view on the original question…

Can a Demon kill you.

Many think yes and many think no.

I don’t think that demons simply will a person’s heart to stop beating, although anything is possible. I do think they can cause physical and mental conditions which shorten one’s life. An example might be Anneliese Michel.

I remember reading about a man who accompanied a priest to go to Rome to work on a church matter. I don’t remember the entire details, but I do know the cause was a good one. That night when this man retired to his hotel room, a demon appeared and threw him against the wall.

He said it was a good sign because what they were trying to accomplish angered the demon.
