Can evil destroy God?

In your opinion, experience, imagination, knowledge of literature, and so on…

Can evil destroy God?

Yes? Why?

No? Why?

No.
Because God is God.

Not sure why the question is even worthy of consideration.

No. God is all powerful and therefore created evil just as he created everything. God is the creater of temptation, because he created the devil knowing he would eventually cast lucifer into the lake of fire. Evil isn’t an accident from God, it is a way of sorting out who is worthy to live with God for eternity.

God is eternal, and something that is eternal cannot be destroyed. Destroying something means to put an end to its existence, and someone who is eternal, by definition, has no end.

Furthermore, any attempt to destroy God would amount to an evil action performed by a created being. To be successful, the created being would have to be more powerful than the Creator. But in addition to being eternal, another aspect of divinity is omnipotence, meaning that God has absolute power over everything in creation. Therefore, nothing in creation is more powerful than God, and therefore has no ability to destroy him.

I disagree. God created good and gave free will. Evil comes from the exercise of that free will against God.

Put another way, God allows evil because if He did not there would not be free will.

Of course not. God is the Alpha and the Omega - the beginning and the end.

God did not create evil. Evil is the absence of God. God ALLOWS evil. There is a big difference. And God allows evil because God is all powerful and He can manage to create more good from the evil.

As they say, where evil abounds, grace abounds all the more.

No, God is all-good and by his very nature can not do evil; rather, evil is the “creation” (remember that evil is not really a thing, but an absence of good) of man, of his free will.

God created lucifer but didn’t create evil or make lucifer evil. As several others have indicated, God did create free will. Demons and humans then chose to abuse said free will.

Evil does not actually exist. It is the absence of good.

So Granny, rather than this question is what do YOU believe about God? Do you believe in God? Do you believe in the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Christ?

That’s where to start with the questions…after answering those questions…then you can explore other philosophical questions.

Oh, and no, evil cannot destroy God.

I believe that God is a supernatural transcendent spiritual being. God is personal. I believe that Jesus Christ is both human and divine; thus His birth, life, death, and resurrection are part of my belief.

I have answered your questions.

My turn to ask a question. 🙂

Why not?

While checking out dualism, I came across this definition. “4. Theology a. The view that the world is ruled by the antagonistic forces of good and evil.” (emphasis mine)
American Heritage College Dictionary.

Why not? Because…JUST because. I don’t have that question…IF you do, then YOUR answer is what is most important, not what I think.

I guess I could drag my CCC and Bible to this room and start giving you all my reasons for my belief. But, again, that is MY belief, (and the belief of the Church)…What is most important as you stand before God is YOUR belief, and YOUR reason…not mine.

Peace be with you!

Darkness cannot destroy light because darkness doesn’t actually exist; it is just the absence of light. Ditto for good and evil.

Opinions are worthless, experience in this matter would be what?
Imagination is all you have to go on. And, “literature”

Evil cannot destroy God because evil is not a thing, and entity or a being, it is a wrong choice or the consequences of a wrong choice.

So, then Satan is not an entity or a being? The Anti Christ is not an entity or a being?

They are, but they were not created to be evil. God created them (or will create in the case of the latter), and they chose (will choose) to do evil.

Now that he has have chosen to be evil, is their (Satan and Anti Christ) ultimate act of evil as the fallen angel/ person in Revelation the entity or entities of evil?

I have no idea how to phrase this as it sounds very close to asking if the Pink Elephant got angry that the purple elephant did not agree to his rules in the tribe for survival. The Pink Elephant got his guys together to tell his side of the story after he killed off the purple elephant and all his kin.
