Can evil destroy God?

Why would God allow for believers children to have cancer? Why wouldn’t he “pass them over”? They have the sacrement of Baptism in the West, and in the East they have already had the body and blood in the Eucharist (okay, so we are talking about childhood cancer before the Great Schism in that case)
I am hoping that post 59 will answer this one here. If not, please let me know. Post 53 may also be helpful.

Isaiah 55: 6-9

No. God is all powerful and therefore created evil just as he created everything. God is the creater of temptation, because he created the devil knowing he would eventually cast lucifer into the lake of fire. Evil isn’t an accident from God, it is a way of sorting out who is worthy to live with God for eternity.
Sorry but this is wrong.

Look at a gray scale from white to black, and all the shades of gray inbetween. God is all good, He is white. Evil is the absence of good, and thus black. Evil cannot destroy God because of what the very nature of evil is, the absence of goodness. So by the very nature of God being all good, evil cannot exist where God is.

God did not create temptation nor the devil. The angel Lucifer out of his own free will chose to rid himself of the goodness of God because of jealousy. So on the gray scale, Lucifer went from all-white, to all the shades of gray, to black. This is not God’s doing. God gave the angels choice, the same way we have a choice. Unfortunately for Lucifer, the nature of angels also means he cannot go back to being an angel of light.

No, evil is not an accident, its a product of free will. God did not direct Lucifer to rebel. God is love by nature. And true love involves free will. If you cannot hate, then you cannot truly love. That is why we all were given the capacity to choose to love or reject God, because only then can we truly love Him.

I am sorry I spelled sacrament wrong earlier.

Anyway- I am asking why there is no visible benefit to the sacraments. The child is below the age of reason. Has been baptised. I go to mass nearly 4 times a week and have grown close to the parents that lost their child to cancer. I wondered about all the nice ways God had protected his people by means of splashing blood all about doors, and other means. Then we see, these are children of believers in this same God, who was willing to give a way out for his people. He is not giving my friends a way out. They buried their child. No amount of prayers or believing or splashing of blood or being at Mass every week or volunteering stopped their innocent child from getting cancer that caused the end of their short life. I hate how I can not understand this. I know I am sensitive now, with my friend committing suicide recently.
But for crying out loud already-

WHY is he not showing himself? Absent. So Absent.

Even his believers are not to be held accountable to be on the higher ground because they are human, and they can sin.

He leaves us here with nothing. NOTHING.
I am so sorry about the death of a beautiful child. Please give my sympathy to the parents. And my sympathy is for you in the loss of your friend to suicide.
Both deaths tear us apart because they are so hard to understand.

As we grieve, we cry out to God, Why? Why? Why didn’t You do something?
Softly, Jesus replies. I did do something. I hung bleeding on a cross so that the gates of heaven would be open to the dear souls of your loved ones. Do not count death as a battle lost on earth. Count it as the final step in life’s journey to eternal love and peace in heaven.

First and foremost, I am sorry to hear the tragedy, My prayers are with the family. :signofcross:

Matthew 7:8 7
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

Where is God?

Matthew 28:20
And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age."

This is where Faith takes part.

I’ve done the same more than once, roaring from a hilltop at both God and the cosmos to cut it out.

Did either listen? The only answer I ever came up with is no matter how wise or knowledgeable we think we are, in the end we can do nothing but accept our vulnerability.

The only way I found to deal with it is Luke 10:27 in reverse order, to have compassion first for yourself and then for others. Depending on your belief, you might also want to love the Lord your God with all your heart, but frankly at times like these the divinity of people comes first.

Shouldn’t post songs by embarrassing gurus, but here’s one about vulnerability and leaps of faith, where in the end she runs out of words and just cries out like the rest of us. Alanis Morissette - Thank You

You are the only Baptist I have ever known that can express humanity without judgment the way you do.

I like you.
