Jesus came for the unjust, not the just, the just have no need of him
Even the most righteous person fails seven times a day - no one is just. The most holy person you know is skidding in by the width of a hair to the bottom end of Purgatory; how can you say that adulterers and fornicators are “just” and don’t need Jesus?

I didn`t say that at all, there are millions upon millions of fornicators & adulters, they all need forgiveness & will get it if they ask it of the Lord. The Lord knew from the beginning of time what sins man would commit, so he sent his Son Jesus to atone for the sins of all mankind. ALL MANKIND, & Thank God for that

I have to agree with Kage. God should be first. If you miss the church so much, then you must leave this man alone and rid yourself of feelings for him. Pray - A LOT. I will pray for you in my rosaries. Don’t let this man make you make a choice between him and God. Don’t let heart rule your head - you already know what you have to do, it sounds like.

Blessings,

And quit their evil ways, and return to the authentic practice of Christianity.

Yes - but not without conditions. Matthew 25 sets out the conditions.

Re: Post #33

Love IS a choice. You choose to love. Not with your heart, but with your will. Listen to Fr. Corapi. He’ll tell you that.

Firm intention for amendment. That’s really what it is all about. As long as this man’s wife is alive, the OP must avoid any ocasion of sin, particularly in regard to him.
As for being banned from the church, I wonder if she has thought to contact the local bishop. It seems strange that she should be cut off so completely. Even non-Catholics, and atheists, are allowed to attend Msss if they so choose.
In my former parish, the new pastor called in several long’time parishioners–including me–and told us we must distance ourselves from all ministries of the parish, citing various “reasons” based on “telephone calls from the diocese”. I contacted the bishop who said he could not understand the moves of the pastor, and in my situation, there was nothing on file that could in any way bring about anyform of censure. I have been welcomed in my new parish, where the pastor and other clergy are aware of “irregularities” in my former parish.

So then, It`s kind of meant to be. He knew from the beginning we would need a savior, His Son Jesus, for us all. We will all make mistakes up until we leave this earth
Well, we’re straying a little from my initial disagreement with you. God didn’t make the OP sin with this married man, inflicting damage to his marriage, wife and family, to bring them together. God didn’t make her “hopelessly in love” (not my words) with him to the extent that they committed this sin together.

We really dont know that do we

Yes, we actually do know that. God doesn’t lead people into sin, because it goes against His nature.
We absolutely do not know what makes a person do the things they do, they could be disenchanted, having emotional problems, illness, other things in a persons life can make he or she go southOnly God knows the reasons not us. Most of us are all to quick to pass judgment

If we have emotional problems or illnesses God wants us to seek treatment for them - from a doctor or therapist or other professional if we can’t resolve tehm ourselves. This is the only true treatment, not an affair.

God does NOT, EVER, want us to have an affair or break our marriage vows, nor does He, EVER, want us to cause others to break their vows of marriage - or their priestly vows which are just as binding!

Marriage is a sacrament, Holy Orders is a sacrament, what part of that do you not understand? HE joins the couple who vow til death to each other, assuming the marriages are valid. HE anoints and ordains the priest who consecrates his life and chastity to His service.

Whatever the future possibilities of her annulment or his laicisation (which he clearly doesn’t seem to want to do anyway), for the present the couple MUST act on the presumption that her marriage is valid and his ordination is binding until such time as they hear otherwise from the Church.

To do otherwise is sin, they can’t be sure without Church confirmation that she IS free to marry - or that he is!

I understand it all, I just face reality, the way it is & perhaps meant to be I been around for a long time. God allows a lot of things i think, You know he is a mystery, we know little about him

We know enough - we know He gave us the command against adultery, reaffirmed in several places in scripture by Jesus. We know that Jesus didn’t stone the woman caught in adultery, but we also know that He DID insist that she stop her sinning.

For you to suggest, as you are, that God would, having given this command, turn around and condone its breaking under any circumstances, is to say that he’s not just mysterious but two-faced and contradicting Himself.

Some people do think he is a horrible God, I dont, I just look at the world the way it is I study behavior of people & I try to put it together, as bad as it seems, I think its the way God wants it, God has it all in the palm of his hand

Do you believe that God “makes” people sin, like some kind of a puppetmaster?

I don’t think God likes it, or that it is the way that God wants it. Sin is certainly not in conformity with God’s will. God is going to save as many of us as He can, and then He is going to burn the whole thing up, destroy the wicked (those who persist in their sins) and start all over again.

Have you not read the Book of the Apocalypse? 🤷

First of all it takes three things to make a mortal sin, I doubt people think these three things out before they sin hence, there is no mortal sin, a mortal sin is hard to commit. Most sin is spontaneous

I think its the way God wants it, God has it all in the palm of his hand
that God allows evil, that God can and will always bring about a greater good in His own perfect time, does not mean that all things are the way God wants it.

if all things are the way God wants them, then Jesus suffered and died for nothing.

believing this doesn’t make a God of order a horrible God, it makes Him a loving God who saved us from the confusion of chaos.

to call sin “sin” isn’t being judgmental, it’s using our God-given gift of discernment (recognized as one of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit.) to warn of the consequences of obstinate, unrepentant sin doesn’t make one judgmental, it’s a spiritual work of mercy.

Simple.

God wants the salvation of all people. It’s there in black and white in scripture, so that much we CAN know about Him.

At the same time all are NOT saved - Jesus said only few find the path that leads to life. THAT also is there in black and white in scripture, so that much we can also know.

Therefore whatever people do that leads or tends towards their damnation is NOT what God wants. Breaking the commandments is one of those things that leads or tends towards their damnation, ergo that too is something God does NOT want. Logic 101.

By the way, if mortal sin is so hard, why are only few saved? The answer is that it actually isn’t that hard. It doesn’t matter whether you ‘thought’ much at the time or not.

Looking at the three requirements, if you know beforehand that something is grave matter and make a free (not forced or coerced or lacking consent in any way) decision to do it, you can sin in the blink of an eye, even if not much actual thought accompanies it at the time.

Jesus redeemed the world, all of God`s people, so he didnt die for nothing
