We absolutely do not know what makes a person do the things they do, they could be disenchanted, having emotional problems, illness, other things in a persons life can make he or she go southOnly God knows the reasons not us. Most of us are all to quick to pass judgment
We are not arguing that point. We are saying God does not lead us into sin. He can make good come out of bad, but he does not lead us to bad in the first place.

Whatever the future possibilities of her annulment or his laicisation (which he clearly doesn’t seem to want to do anyway), for the present the couple MUST act on the presumption that her marriage is valid and** his ordination is binding** until such time as they hear otherwise from the Church.
did I miss something???

I understand it all, I just face reality, the way it is & perhaps meant to be I been around for a long time. God allows a lot of things i think, You know he is a mystery, we know little about him
are we talking circles around each other?? Yes, God gave us free will and allows us to do anything we choose. However, allowing us to sin, and **leading **us to sin are two totally different things. He does not lead us to sin.

Sorry for the multiple posts. Just got back on.

Y can’t I move? economics aside, it is fair to my daughter to try to uproot her or send her out on her own when it is my duty to do help her do the very best and be the very best that she can be? She is presently in college, on scholarship, holding a 4.O average. To ask her to find a place to live and support herself at this point would be unreasonable. She has been through so much in last few years, change of “family” and her father being who he is to her(which is not very nice–pushes her aside for his new family–) and me being the only parent left to help, listen and try to keep her focused on her dreams, goals etc. Yes she does attend mass, and yes has a major issue with all of this and there treatment of me. She did not belive that things were as wide spread as I stated until she started asking questions. This am I quiet went in to church, sat in the back and was promptly asked to leave as the father saw me there. No this is not the church MM attends anymore… just has ties due to the rural nature of where we live…
Thats disgraceful & painful that a priest would put U out of a church, priests are supposed to be fishers of men, try to save all the souls they can , in spite of what happened I think U are being treated badly. There is & should be forgiveness for all

Yeh I do have a little world, about as little as yours is, The most perfect kage, U must have been conceived with out sin Kage
We know how this stuff goes, because we’ve been there, or had lucky escapes from it.

Maybe you are the sinless one, who has never actually been in the situation, and maybe that’s why you really don’t know that, yes, the people involved are, in fact, responsible for their own actions, and could stop or decide not to start, any time they want to. 😉

That’s the biggest load of BS I’ve ever heard.

I don’t care what ‘heights of passion’ a man or woman reaches, if their father or mother or child or spouse (assuming they’re in the midst of an adulterous act) were to walk into the room I can assure you that they would indeed be able to stop DEAD cold right there and then. Ask any parent, child or spouse that it’s happened to!

Anyone who is capable of stopping the act, as everyone would in such a situation, is capable of not sinning and IS fully consenting.
I have to agree with this.

Full consent of the will is in place even under spontaneity. Usually something is implied, even if it’s, “everyone else is gone, want to hang out for a little while?” Why do they have to wait until “everyone is gone”? And as for “not being able to stop”, I was trained at one point to council rape survivors and one thing we always had to say was, “Honey, if you asked them to stop and they didn’t, that’s rape.” Seriously, how many times have I heard stories from people my age about getting caught, how they stopped dead in their tracks?

It actually is easy to sin. It’s easy to justify. Jesus did say the way was wide and easy that leads to hell but the way was narrow and hard that leads to Paradise.

OP, go to your bishop. If you’re truly sorry for your sins, your priest has no right to oust you. You’re Catholic, you should go to Mass, it’s your right as a Catholic. Go to your bishop. If that doesn’t work, go higher up the levels. I’ll pray for you.

Did the priest himself ask you to leave or did an usher say that the priest told him to ask you to leave? Is there a priest nearby that is fluent in your language? Sometimes people have difficulty understanding someone who has an accent. What has MM been saying about you? Has he accused you of something like stalking? He must be saying something that has turned the priests against you. Do you have any friends who will go with you to talk to the priest about letting you go to mass? There must be some type of rumor circulating or something. There has to be something more than this affair. The priest can’t go kicking people out of church because they have sinned. The church would be empty. Have you tried to go to communion while you are unrepentant of this sin? It just makes no sense to me to kick a sinner out of church.

First of all it takes three things to make a mortal sin, I doubt people think these three things out before they sin hence, there is no mortal sin, a mortal sin is hard to commit. Most sin is spontaneous
I’m shocked I read in your profile that you are Catholic. It is not hard to committ a mortal sin.

It must be a grave matter, which adultery is.

You must have knowledge that it is a sin, which the OP does.

You must have free will. Two consenting adults is free will. No one is holding a gun to their head. Sex can’t happen with just a thought. It is actually physical.

Your advice sounds like the same advice that Satan would give to the OP. Satan would tempt us by telling us, “Oh its not a mortal sin. You can’t help it when your fornicating. It’s nature. Go ahead, you’re meant to be with that married person.”

Yes, temptation is hard. But that is what causes us to sin whether it is spontaneous or not, we know that having relations with a married person is wrong.

No there is not communication issue here, we all speak the same english. Yes it was the priest himself. His reputation is wide known and no there are not rumors circulating other then the fact that we had an affair and the priest does not like conflict. When I went to him originally about getting a divorce from my husband, he sent me to another parish to seek councel since my now ex husband had served as his first alter boy and because he had married us. The father felt that he could not be there for me even though 1. I was the active member not my ex(he hadn’t been to mass in 18yrs) and 2. I had numerous police reports to back me up including the most recent one that the police filed dV charges against him. The MM happens to me the active music minister at the other church so I am not to go there either.
I do understand that the catholic church is the only one and true church, but getting things right with god has to come first. I can’t even begin to describe the emptiness of my life over the past 3 yrs has been. Yes, I still believe others before self, trust in people, and just try always to do the next right thing, One thing in all of this, my daughter gets so angry that I feel I need to apologize for all that goes bad. I guess she doesn’t understand, it is because of me that things go bad…

The only place you can get things right with God is through the Sacrament of Confession.

Contact the St Joseph foundation at the link I provided earlier and make your way back to the Church.

You have a nerve to call me down, I think most of the catholics on this caf thing are rude & selfcentered along with self centered christianity, enuff to make me lose my religion…
When i say mortal sin does it neccessarily have to mean sex, & it is hard to commit a mortal sin

Go to the bishop!! Seriously, how can a priest tell you that you cannot attend Mass? That is insane!! I can see him telling you not to receive the Eucharist or that he cannot give you absolution if you are blatantly unrepentant (I’m not saying you’re not!), but I cannot imagine him being able to tell you that you cannot attend Mass.

What would happen if you entered church after the processional had started and you slipped into the back? I can’t imagine that he would stop Mass just to kick you out. And if he would, then there is something else going on that we don’t know about.

If you can’t contact the bishop, then I would go with kage’s advice and contact the St. Joseph Foundation. 👍

If mortal sin was hard to committ, then Jesus wouldn’t have said the path to heaven will be narrow. I’m sorry, if another person can cause you to lose your religion, than your religion is not that strong to begin with.

I’m sorry that you feel that I’m rude. The truth is not always easy to take. Just ask Jesus.

Matthew 10:34
Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.
How do you interpret Matthew 7:13
“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it.”
If mortal sin is so hard to committ, why is the path to heaven narrow and the gate to hell is wide? Why will there be many who enter through the wide gate?

If the MM is at the other parish you should be able to attend yours. If your priest will not communicate with you, call the diocese or pastoral center (ours has retired priests) and see if you can get some counseling help and/or advice on what to do. Or write a letter to the bishop asking where to turn for help and guidance. DO SOMETHING. Your daughter is in college, isn’t she? Tell her that you made a huge mistake and now you are suffering the consequences but that you are taking responsibility for your part and will work it out. You and she need to quit worrying about “his part”. He will have to answer for that himself at some point. This is not your daughter’s cross to bear, it is yours.
Tell her to please understand that her anger is not helping you.

no…it’s not. Just don’t go to Mass on Sunday. Unless of course you don’t know the grave nature of missing Mass on Sunday without a serious reason and then you would be missing one of the three criteria (knowledge, free will, intent).

I do not think missing mass for older people who have health problems is a sin. & U know something, I went to one of them renew things a few yrs ago hosted by parish members & they told me missing mass was not a sin, & they were hosting these meetings, so U see how screwed up it can get.For a sin to be mortal There has to be serious matter, FULL CONSENT & FULL KNOWLEDGE, if all these three things are not present, then there is no mortal sin committed. I doubt that many catholics do actually give full consent when they err if they have any reserve, then its not full consent, thats why its hard to commit a mortal sin, a nun told me this. Man is weak, & he or she sometimes do things without thinking
