Can I be blunt?

Get the heck out of there right now! I mean it!

You don’t know now and you will regret later what this means. Please know that I love you and I love your friend. She/he needs prayer and we will give it to her/him. Do not stay around these people. Stay with Jesus and with God and with the Holy Spirit and with Mary. You may want to pray to St. Monica.

Please leave these people now.

Much love,
sherri:eek:
Talk about over-reacting

I would separate myself as far as I can from that person. You place yourself in danger, I believe, by assosiating with him/her.

Hello. I’m not upholding witchcraft, or other occult beliefs, but I do want to clarify something. I may be wrong, so tell me if I am. But isn’t the story accepted that the Three Wise Men were not Kings, but astrologists? There was a strong belief in astrology at that time in history. In fact, I believe the belief is still strong in China?

Before everyone who has spoken out against the white witch. I suggest that you take a look at your own religion before you disparage other religions/beliefs, as this seems to be a favoured pastime of the catholic religion. Can you provide evidence of the “evil” and “dangerous”. I am certian someone will come up with something

Hello. Although I can’t explain another person’s reaction to alternate religions, I “think” I can explain mine.

I have a difficult time delving into alternative religions that have been disparaged since the beginning of history. So much has been shown and said about the evilness of warlocks/witches on TV, movies, in books it is hard to get past that. Look at the bru ha ha about the Harry Potter books.

What is/was unknown, unfamiliar, or appeared to be a threat to the social order in past centuries and today is/was looked upon in fear by the powers that be. Especially if the woman/women in question was/were seen to hold a power of some sort over and above anyone else. In days past, women who were knowledgeable in herbs and medicinal plants were considered witches and usually condemned to burn at the stake. Many of our knee jerk reactions are the result of Fear. or politics, or money, or, or. or, but mostly Fear.

If you’re strong enough in your faith, you can be friends with anyone. NOONE shakes mine so I am able to hang out with anyone regardless of who or what they are.

Dear OP - goofyjim has proved the goofy part of his name. YOU CAN NOT BE FRIENDS WITH A WHITE WITCH. Period. Case closed. The end.

The posts on this thread are mostly despicable. Everyone who has responded out of fear should examine whether they really believe in Christ, or whether their religion is in fact nothing but fearful superstition.

Do you, or do you not, believe that Jesus Christ has defeated the powers of darkness? Do you, or do you not believe that He has told us to proclaim the Gospel to all people? Do you, or do you not, believe that He has told us to love even our enemies (far more our friends who may be misguided)? Most of the posts on this thread do not betray any knowledge of these basic Christian principles. The posters who think they are being good Christians when they tell the OP to “get away from that woman” are in fact the ones practicing black magic and serving the powers of hell. Satan laughs when you tell a Christian to break up a friendship with an unbeliever. It makes his work that much easier.

Edwin, have you ever considered giving up the chalkboard for the pulpit? You could be the next Jonathan Edwards

Perhaps you don’t grasp the question. The OP is asking about a FRIENDSHIP, not about a relationship where she will be witnessing the Gospel message. In addition she adds that her interest in getting to know this white-witch-woman is one of curiousity and that’s a perfectly terrible reason to form any sort of friendship Finally, the OP is asking for opinions. Shall I offer yours? Now I’ve heard your opinion. Skip the judgments.

Of course. In your version of Christianity, we can’t really be friends with people. We can only pretend to be so we can manipulate them into “getting saved.” Right?

Not true. She has been friends with this woman for a while before finding out that she was a witch.
Skip the judgments.
No. When I see evil and folly I will call it what it is. I expect others to do the same to me when I fall into sin and folly, as I do frequently.

I am not judging the state of people’s souls–or if I implied such a thing I apologize. I am judging the kind of “Christianity” expressed in these posts–a Christianity characterized by fear and failing to show any trace of faith, hope, or charity. Of course it is highly likely that these posts are showing the worst aspects of the posters and are not typical. I would like to think that this is true many of my posts on this forum, which have often violated the law of charity. Perhaps when I have cooled down, I’ll think this about my posts on this thread as well! But if there is one thing worth getting angry about, it’s this kind of fear-mongering pseudo-piety that tells us that we have to be afraid of non-Christians instead of showing them the love of Christ.

Reminds me of a bit I saw on the Montel Williams show some time ago. Sylvia Brown (ha!) was on talking about how witches are harmless and the sweetest people. HOWEVER, she did say you must not cross them or they will put nasty spells on you…
There was a time when if you crossed a catholic you were accused and usually convicted in a kangaroo court of witchcraft and heresy, and burned at the stake!!!

While many of the posts have been, lets say, nice about how to deal with a friendship with a white witch, there have been a few that have made my blood boil. I am not saying that all witches, of any description are good people, but again, may I remind people that the Catholic Church hasn’t exactly been as white as snow in the past.

My opinion is that any person involved with the occult is involved with the devil–whether she is aware of it or not. Because of this involvement, I would steer clear.

when St. Patrick 'dueled with the druid priests, they were able to perform tricks that were physically impossible. Where did they get this power? They received this power from the devil. They had no Christian theology and thought they were invoking a pagan deity when in fact, the devil used their ignorance to corrupt them and those around them.

I’m very sure that this poor woman is unaware that she may be associating with demonic forces. It might be a good idea to get her Moira Noonan’s book

Ms. Noonan was deeply involved in occultic practices before she converted to the Faith. And, she was unaware of their demonic origins as she practiced her new age religion.

I got to meet Ms. Noonan last fall - she is absolutely fascinating. 🙂

I didn’t buy the book because I don’t even like to think about such things, but for someone who is already thinking of these things, I think her wisdom would be very valuable.

Thank you.😛 I’ll be friends with anyone I please. I don’t limit my friendship. I refuse to be part of a clique.
