That is awesome Agnostic! :extrahappy: Now what you need to do is enroll in an RCIA class and get baptized and confirmed so you are in full unity with the Church that Christ Himself founded! 👍

**AMEN!!😃 😃 **

I’ve been reading a lot of threads on the non catholic board - until a very very short while ago I wasn’t sure there was a God but now I am.

There seems to be a lot of discussioin about Mary as the Mother of God, whether she is a co-redeemer, if she stayed a virgin, if she had more children, and so on and if any of this can be found in the Bible, and if not, then the inference is it is man made tradition and therefore irrelevant, if not borderline idolatry. That’s my understanding of the two camps anyhow.

A lot of these discussions, even though I read them, go right over my head.

So I thought I would just share with you my actual experience of Mary, without any theology or scripture or tradition or anything else attached.

It’s just a few simple sentences of what actually, really, happened to me since comming onto these boards.

I did not know if there was a God.

I did not subscribe to the notion of sin.

I did not pray, go to church or anything else - why would I?

I believed we are all the architects of our own life.

I believed when we die - thats it! Game over.

A woman, who I never met before and don’t know, gave me a card with The Magnificat on it.

I read it, and it spoke to me.

I heard the words ‘‘Blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus’’ shortly afterwards.

This made me collapse and crumble. I SAW and FELT just how bad I was, had been, and the effects of my sinfullness on others. (it’s to do with abortion and the woman’s right to chose but I won’t bore you with details here)

It was like comming home to your mother, when you have been as bad as bad can be, and she holds you, and in that embrace, all you feel is love. No admonition, no scolding, no lecture on how bad you are and what a disappointment you are, no threats, no lectures, just a total and all consuming embrace of unconditional love.

And because of this I could see so clearly my sinfullness and badness and without hearing or feeling a word of admonition, I knew what I had to do - and I did it.

That’s why, reading the threads on co-redeemer - I have no issue with this concept. I wasn’t praying to God, I wasn’t praying to Jesus, I wasn’t praying to the Holy Ghost. I wasn’t praying at all.

But a woman came into my life, and She broke me, and made me look at the life I was living and the work I was doing, and I knew I had to stop. And I did. Where did I get the courage and strength to do it. From that Embrace !

My newly found belief in God has come through experiencing His Mother Mary.

If that’s what people mean by co-redeeming - then Mary is indeed co-redeemer with her son, Jesus.

That’s all.

Nothing profound or intellectually challenging. I have no Bible quotes or anything else to give you.

All I have to share is what has just happened to me, by God working through his Mother Mary.

Bruxilda.
Hi Bruxilda,

I was going to post this video when I read your “wierdsville” post, but I never got around to it. I think you might enjoy it. It brings tears to my eyes.

Our Lady’s own words from scripture plus the singer has some powerful words also.

You have been privileged to be given this insight. You have cut to the very heart of why Our Lord Jesus, in His infinate mercy, gave us His mother to be our mother. Theologians and pundits and gurus of all descriptions turn themselves inside out trying to explain the Mother of God and all the whys and wherefores and yes she is and no, she ain’t. Protestants draw up like burnt worms at the mention of her name, because they see her as a “Catholic” encroachment on the perogatives of her Son. All I know is that she is my Mother, the mother that accepts me no matter what, whose arms are always open to me, who pleads my case even though I am so wrong. I have two mothers in heaven, the mother who gave me birth and the Mother of all mankind. I often wonder how Our Lord feels about those who reject His most precious gift. The Church that Christ Himself founded knows the deep gratitude that we owe to Our Lord’s mother and pays her the honor and respect that she deserves. I very much want her interceeding for me when I stand before the Judge, don’t you?

:tsktsk: Shame on you Truthfaithlove.

Agnostic was sharing a very Beautiful story of his conversion, once he walked in darkness and through the LOVE and Tenderness of our Blessed Mother, he walks in the Light of Christ.

If you truly read his story, you will learn that it was the loving motherly embrace of our Blessed Mother that led him to a belief in God, and THAT is exactly what our Lady does, she leads us to Jesus Christ.

Agnostic, as a former atheist, I too cried with great joy at your story and thank you for sharing it. A word of caution though,

You will hear so many conflicting things about faith which will leave your head spinning and your mind wondering. Pay NON of that any attention and just stick to our Lady. She introduced you to God and has only the Best intentions for your soul. Pray that God give you the strength to endure your trials (which will come to you) and continue to light the path that leads to Him.

God bless you on your faith journey.👍

There NEVER was any Mary in the puzzle. The purpose of inserting a person in between God and Man besides Jesus is an act of blasphemy that divorces Man FROM God.

By so doing, there becomes opportunities to insert secular works into the system, thereby violating the perfect will of God.

God loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. And instead of letting the two come together, evil men have resorted to inserting 3rd and 4th parties into the picture for gain. The punishment for these shall be so great that no eyes shall ever again see.
and what would you think of yourself when you are between how God works between Him with the others?

Amen, good post and good advice.
You always have bitter or misguided people trying to rain on your parade, it seems. I remember very well when I called my sister to tell her of my conversion from atheism and reception into the Catholic Church, that the first thing that my brother-in-law (a Baptist) warned me against, was “idol worship.” That was thirty years ago and I still have not forgotten it. Forgiven it, yes. Forgotten it, no.

Peace Truthfaithlove!

Please send your views to a new thread topic.
Please let this person have this thread for the intended purpose.

Please rejoice that a non-believer has found God because of the mysterious ways God works in our lives.

Please do not try to bring down their new found faith in God. They were trying to express how they found a new sense of purpose in their life and you are trying to belittle their experience.

We all like to discuss the topic you are presenting, we have done it a multitude of times on this forum, I just ask that you make a new topic to do so with.

Be happy that a non-believer now believes in Jesus Christ!

Thank you!

Peace!
Where is belief without understanding?

Your “understanding” is faulty and like ashes in the mouth. Agnostic chooses to accept the gift that Our Lord and His Blessed Mother has freely given. You have neither the right nor the authority nor the knowlege to gainsay her. As the previous poster advised, start a new thread if you want to discuss your errors about our Blessed Mother.

When Jesus was born, the first ones who came to know Him were the shepherds - the poor and the uneducated.

When Mother Mary appeared to us, She appeared to the poor, the young, and the uneducated.

Agnostic! the Magnificat moves you. Mother Mary spoke what the Holy Spirit inspired Her to, and you responded to what She said. The Holy Spirit is working in you.

As part of the Legion of Mary members, I pray the Magnificat every morning before going to work. Could you also pray that each morning? Though we do not know each other, but when you pray, all of us around the world are joining with you.

Bless you Water, good post. I was a guest in your beautiful country from 1966 to 1971 and I will never forget the kindness and courage of Vietnamese people under very trying circumstances. I am sorry that we could not bring Viet Nam the freedom that she deserved, but the politicians would not let us. Many of my comrades gave their lives for this just cause. God Bless.

SO, FOR CATHOLICS, WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE HOLY GHOST???

**John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. **
  • Jesus says that the Holy GHOST will teach us all things that we need to know, so what need is there for any POPE??? Basically, we don’t need the Pope right?
2 Timothy 1:14 Guard, through the Holy Ghost who lives in us, that good thing entrusted to you.
  • In other words, this Holy Ghost that teaches everything that we need to know is living in US. So, do we STILL need anybody to intercede for us when we already have God living inside us???
PS. I speak for those who have the Holy Ghost in them, not for those who do not know Him.

Remember, the Holy Ghost IS GOD.

1 Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

Truthfaithlove, you do realize that it’s you against many here, right? Please take your comments to another thread, as already asked by others, where you can rant and rave all you want;). But this isn’t the place to do it. What’s the point of all this nonsense in a thread that’s supposed to be about a beautiful story of a non-believer finding God? I can’t imagine what good you can get out of belittling someone’s experience of coming to know Christ.

All you’re doing is trying to get agnostic to think twice about what they just experienced and possibly even causing them to turn away(of course, after a story like that, I don’t see how anyone could turn away from what they felt/learned)

Agnostic, be wary of things like this. As others have said, and if you haven’t already gone through it yourself, people are gonna throw all sorts of arguments your way that might sound good on paper but conflict with one another and could make your head spin if you’re not careful. But as an earlier poster said, pay no attention to these, and stick to Mary. You will only grow closer to God by doing so.

You have started a special relationship with the Blessed Mother, who does nothing but lead you closer to her son and is praying for you every day. I’ll be praying for you as well:signofcross: Keep it up and God bless you in your journey.

p.s. I’m not a crier, but your story almost brought tears to my eyes. Never heard one quite like it. Very moving.

What’s so agnostic about it? Everything is Scriptural.

We have a powerful testimony here by agnostic. I was skeptical about you because of what your nick implies. I hope you would forgive me for my presumption. I am not an emotional person but your testimony moved me to tears. By your testimony you have presented to us how God works in bringing back the prodigals. He works in His own ways; sometimes they may seem too farfetched but His ways are His ways, it may be not for us to farthom why and how they happen but they happen. If he uses Mary to bring you to her son, so may be it. It happen all the times with Christians, we do bring people to her son too and we know that it is His grace that makes it possible, except that we can never be compared to Mary in evangelization.

She knows her son much better than us. I have this painting hanging on my wall - Our Lady of Perpetual Help. It depicts Mary holding the child Jesus. It never crossed my mind before but lately I noticed in the painting that one sandal on the child Jesus’ foot was left untied. It reminded me of what John the Baptist said, “I am not worthy to untie the sandal off his feet”. Then I realized, none of us are. But surely Mary, His mother, had tied and untied the sandals off and on the feet of her son when he was a child. That’s how special is her position vis-a-vis her son as compared to any of us.

You have just testify the effect and the beauty of what this Mother-Son relationship can do to any one of us as how it has done unto you.

It is a pity that how someone here can water down your experience by trying to hijack this thread. Look to me like a sour grape and if this is the product of what the denomination of Christianity that this person adhered to, thanks God I would have no part of it.

To agnostic, may this be a beginning of your journey, and my prayer together with the intercession of Mother Mary will be with you.

May God continue to bless you abundantly.

Thank you, hosemonkey. I was born few years after you left. Yes, the country and people are beautiful. I do admire them for their zeal and love for God, and their great honor to the Blessed Mother Mary and St. Joseph through generations. I am very blessed to be raised as a Catholic in Vietnam.

Praying the rosary everyday will bring peace as Mother Mary said.

From someone who was 21 years agnostic,

From someone who had key women have guide his way back to the Faith, and then back to the Catholic Church

From someone whom the the Blessed Mother never game up on

I say to you, agnostic, welcome!
