Can science prove the world is over 4 billion yrs. old?

Don’t remember linking any videos . Big fan of evidence though, post all you want, start with a few peer reviewed articles from top journals giving the case for YEC, technical as you like (not ID though due to the ban).
Lui did.

Now the RATE groups claim was radioactive decay was not constant. Of course they were trashed by the old earth establishment. And now what do we see? :hmmm:They were right after all.

In other words my belief that the earth is 4.5 billion years old is as strong as the belief that the USA has 50 States or George Washington was the first President. I don’t care if one day science finds out the earth is 3 billion instead of 4.5 billion years old. I’m sure they are mostly right.
Keep in mind something.
There ARE 50 states.
George Washington WAS the first President of the US.
These are facts that cannot be rationally disputed.

We only have evidence to tell us the age of the earth, and that can be interpreted a number of ways.

You may believe the age of the earth based on what the popular theories tell us, but that is not fact, it is best guess shaped by evidence and agenda.

Just for everyone to get a good laugh…

Has anyone ever wondered why the exhibits of dinosaurs in the museums always have the same age year after year?
It reminds me of the tale of the kid doing a report for class and reported the dinosaur as 351 million years old. When asked about it, he listed the museum listing and the fact that the exhibit was one year old.
He got an A, after all…who could fight with that logic. He was following what he was told to the letter.

Thanks for that, a good piece of research.

Given that the fluctuations are so small, I see no need to revise the figures for the age of the Earth substantially. Maybe from 4.5 billion years old to 4.495 billion years old.

Consider this - radioactive decay has only been known about for what, 60 years or so. To project back so far and extrapolate is quite a stretch, don’t you think? As I posted, let’s wait and see what develops.

Just so we all have a baseline here…

Can someone explain in detail the process of radiological dating?

Keep in mind that I only said that my beliefs are equally strong. Based on your argumentation believing in God would make no sense because there is much less factual evidence that he exists than there is evidence that the earth is 4.5 billion years old.

The RATE group were trashed because they used bad science. Deliberately picking xenocrysts to date a lava flow is appallingly bad science, and the RATE group was rightly excoriated for it.

I suggest that you go and recalculate the age of the Earth using the new data, not forgetting that the change in decay rate is cyclical, not linear. I await the results from all those YEC, and ID, scientific research labs.

It is also worth pointing out that this research was done by mainstream scientists and that it was not suppressed or hidden by the ‘anti-Genesis conspiracy’ alleged by some to exist.

SN 1987A is over 150,000 light years away. We have measured decay rates in its light from 150,000 years ago. Similar work has been done on other astronomical objects.

Any bad science on either side should be challenged. As I ponder this, maybe it is a good thing. Both sides are “purifying” themselves.

Bottomline - RATE said decay rates were not constant, now we know they are not.

Doesn’t this process assume there is only one point in time when the isotopes (both radioactive and decayed) are intoduced as well as only one way these items can appear?
Bingo! - the other assumption is how much was there to begin with. How to solve? Well there must have been enough to come out to 4+ billion years. 😦

No. Read the article. If there are later introductions into the rock then results are inconsistent and the inconsistency can be detected. For example, you will get two isochrons, rather than just one.

As to “one way to appear”, then yes. Decay series are well known. If an element can appear through two different paths then it is not used for dating, for exactly that reason.

There are alternative methods as well as radiodating, which are not enough to date the Earth, but are ample to show the falsity of a 6,000 year age of the Earth.

Bottomline - RATE used deceptive measures and were caught red-handed.
Bottomline - Changes of less than 1% are hugely less than the changes needed to make the Earth 6,000 years old.
Bottomline - the heat problem still kills YEC. Speeded up decay means speeded up heat production and a molten Earth.

Buffalo, you really should stop calling everything you don’t know the answer to an assumption. You don’t know the answer, but that’s because you don’t have the years of education necessary to understand, nor, from what I can tell, have you tried to find it. For what reason do you conclude that how much there is to begin with is an assumption?

You have to consider that Buffalo considers his ideology IDvolution as the absolute TRUTH. Evolution is only a vague theory but his theories are all FACTS. All leading scientists who believe in the theory of evolution are all quacks who know nothing and all people who believe in evolution are apostles of scientism…correct me if I’m wrong;)

Can’t resist the Ad Hominems can you?

Put your facts on the table and we can debate, otherwise just lurk and learn.😦

I just got that impression a couple of times but I apologize for being sarcastic which was unnecessary.
