I am not Matt but would like to say I believe that Chriet would have us all to be united. Do away with all the rules and regulations and be united in Christ’s love They will know we are Christians by our love. Would do more than preaching I am more right than you and I know better yhan you. Love one another and let God do the judging.👍
Well Tweet, our Church prays for Christ’s desire for unity in every Mass celebrated the world over somewhere every minute of every day. The Vatican has been talking with the Anglicans, the Lutherns and the Eastern Church. It is in action, however, tossing out the commandments of Jesus isn’t what will do it,Fuzzy love does feel good, but what is needed is working out the Truth in love and I for one will be obedient to the Vicar of Christ in that and to the best of my uneducated ability.;):)Peace, Carlan

Dear Matt, we Catholics believe you are a member of Christ’s body, we simply believe, though, you are in error to think it is OK for us to be one big happy family when unity with the separated brethren has not yet been achieved. Trust God,for it to happen in his time, try not to jump ahead and do it for him because you think it should have happened yesterday.:p:)Peace, Carlan
Does the pope call us separated brethren? would the pope say I am his brother in Christ?

That is a nice kind and chairatble thought:thumbsup: However it denies that Jesus Is God; that God cannot lie, nor can God be in error.

Said differently; its not only not in the bible; but it opposes what is in the Bible.:o

Eph. 2: 19-21 “So then you are no longer strangers and sojourners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God,SINGULAR] built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure [SINGULAR] is joined together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord;”

Matt.16 Verses 15 to 19: "He [esus] said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” **Simon Peter replied, **“You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jona! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. And I [Jesus] tell you, you are Peter,SNGULAR] and on this rock meaning you Peter] I [Jesus] will build my church SINGULAR], and the powers of death shall not prevail against it. I [Jesus]will give you [Peter as the head of my Church [COLOR=“blue”]SINGULAR] ***the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” ***

Christ started only one Church and all salvation therefore must flow through Her. Christ still wants one church; BUT ON HIS TERMS! Let us pray. :gopray2:

Thank you for your kind thought.

as usual you missed the point. What did Jesus say were the most important commandements?

Ouch! PJM appeared to extend plenty of kindness in his/her post, why resort to such uncharitable reproach in return?

I believe that. is stated in Mathew 22: 37-40

If I am correct the idea behind the OP is the idea that made the U.S. a great nation and was the idea espoused by the founding fathers.

They did discover that there were 5 principles that all “sound” religions believed that would unite us all.

We do have different views and believes but the 5 priciples were stated by the founders as THE RELIGION of AMERICA. That is why it was stated in the Northwest Ordinance that Religion and Morality were necessary for good government and education and they wanted religion and morality taught in the schools. Indeed they were correct and since the removal of such quality education the nation has as was warned by the founding fathers, seen an endless increase of social problems created, such as crime, teen pregnancy, abortion, drug and alcohol abuse etc.I suggest If we as Christians from different faiths would return to those Ideals of promoting the foundational principles we all agree on (specifically the 5 principles) we would make a better Country and World.

You did see the quote below,
from Tweety: Do away with all the rules and regulations and be united in Christ’s love They will know we are Christians by our love. Would do more than preaching I am more right than you and I know better yhan you. Love one another and let God do the judging.

Carlan, what are you pondering? 🙂
Well Matt, Tweet seems to think it would be a good idea to throw all the commandments out, see post 170, I thought it might be a good idea for her to talk it over with her spiritual director. I was pondering her answer that is all , I have no other comment.:)Peace to you , enjoy the Olympics. Carlan
