Because I am a Muslim and the topic is can you handle those questions without getting angry. I hope there are many who can.
Ive emailed you the replies since it does not really pertain to this thread, happy reading.

Oh, I see. No, the questions don’t make me angry, and you asking them does not either. I guess I am just puzzled why you would? You are a Muslim, and this is a Catholic forum. You surely are not in here so that you can become Catholic! I also doubt that any answers to those questions will change your mind about your faith, or that Catholic faith, either, so what is the point?

Of course, if you assume that they are all lying for Islam, then what’s the point in trying to learn about the religion at all?

You have to either accept that there is no million-man conspiracy to hide the teachings of Islam, or accept that you’re wasting your time saying anything at all about the religion.
This is a very good question. How did this thread get started, and what is the point? Who is here wanting to learn about Islam? I have read the whole thread, and I cannot find anyone…maybe this is a waste of time. I think it is time to end this thread! At least for me to unsubscribe.

I have personally met muslims who have lied to me about Islam and what it teaches.

Those Muslims I have met that have been agreeable to a discussion have been ignorant, or have been lying, or basic precepts taught by Islam.

I trust that Muslims write accurate representations of their religion into materials designed to be read by other Muslims. Of course, that could all be a conspiracy too, I just don’t think it’s likely.
Conspiracy? No. Exclusive?

Montalban,

Well, I’ll ask again:

What exactly did you study? What qualifies you to speak on what Islam teaches?
Pro_universal, I’ll tell you again, you’ve already discounted anything taught by Moslems here in Australia.

ask me again 🙂

I would say so. But as with ex Catholics, it would make sense to think about the motives and tendency to distort the facts.

The best source is an actual Muslim. We have those, but everyone wants to reject their explanations of Muslim teaching.
You applauded the qualifications of the great Lakemba Mufti when you defended him (when he called women a piece of meat) but then you decried Moslem advice sites from South Africa, and Australia when it suited you. In fact you made it known that the Moslems in Australia had their own special way of viewing things.

You can’t even make up your own mind whether to support or criticize them.

You won’t find a Muslim who says it’s okay to lie to unbelievers about what Islam teaches.
How would you know that this is true?
I haven’t met a single one. Of course, if you assume that they are all lying for Islam, then what’s the point in trying to learn about the religion at all?
You know Moslems are permitted to lie for the sake of spreading Islam
If all Muslims could be lying, then all ex-Muslims and anti-Muslims could actually be Muslims in disguise, right?
I wonder who’d be pretending to be a non-Moslem here? (yet apologising for Islam all the time)

Considering that any criticism of Islam is seen as an insult there’s no need to point to a conspiracy.

An atmosphere that so denies free thought does the job nicely

I thought it was started by those who thought that some who question Islam were doing so in a disrespectful way.

The problem being that some see criticism of Islam as something we should not do because of any of the following
a) it was deemed un-Christian
b) it was seen as a continuation of oppression by Christians against non-Christians
c) it was seen as irrelevant, as nothing’s real any way - no religion has sole claim to the truth.

I believe that vigorously defending the truth is Christian. It’s not oppression because we’re only on an internet site and no one’s condemning people to death. And Christianity has the truth, Islam does not.

Since I did come back here to read your posts, which I have found very informative, I will say for the record that I do not believe it is unChristian to criticise, that criticism in my mind is not a form of oppression, and that it is further the responsibility of those who know the truth to bring it forth, especially in the face of untruth. And with that, I will bow out!

No need to ask again. It’s obvious from your comments that you went to the “internet anti-islamic websites school of learning.”

If you can give some reason why I should take any of your claims about Islam seriously, then I’ll respond again.

pro, they lied to me about the persecution of Christians in their countries. Also they lied about Jews. They lied about my faith. And they lied about being opposed to terrorism when in fact they supported it.

And how did you find out they were lying?

What were the specific lies about:

Christians

Jews

and Terrorism?

If your conversations with me are any indication, I would say you’re calling them liars when in reality it’s that they don’t agree with your assessment of the world situation. Unless you are infallible on matters of world affairs and Islamic teaching, I’d say you should be a lot more charitable with throwing around the charge that Muslims lie to you.

that most Muslims will never be a threat to you or to anyone else because of their Muslim faith?
I can’t accept this either. I believe to rule and conquer is built into Islamic theology and is precisely what Mohammed taught and practiced; radical Muslims simply follow Mohammed’s example and what they see as being faithful to Islamic law through violence, no matter who is killed. Perhaps ordinary Muslims might not want war and seek peace, I would agree, however human nature as it is with the tendency toward evil coupled with Islam’s tendency toward domination, making everyone submit to Islamic law in the world, causes me to put up my guard against ANY Islamic government even if it is a so called friendly nation. I can certainly trust a Muslim, on an idividual basis, yet an Islamic goverment is what concerns me and what is a merging global threat most especially if it is a radical element of Islam.

ROFL. Most of your argument is supposition.
If you can give some reason why I should take any of your claims about Islam seriously,
Given that you both support and then pay-out on Islamic authorities at whim, for no apparent reason your claims about Islam are not taken seriously.
then I’ll respond again.
You simply responsd selectively, when you think you can point score. If you’d like to explain why Australian-based clerics don’t know about Islam, please let me know.

You seem willing to ask, but not answer questions. How is it you understand Islam better than the clerics in Australia? I’ve already asked this of you some time ago and still await an answer.

What did they lie to you about?
I can say that this happens all the time too!

Take for instance your own stance on the great Mufti of Lakemba. One moment you swear he’s a great man, the next he knows nothing about Islam.

Which is it?
