I’m not suggesting Christianity owes a debt to Islam. But it is what it is. I just noticed that you are Orthodox. I was Orthodox for 12 years and I can see now why you may have responded the way you did.But the point is since the beginning of Chrisitanity Christians have been called to defend their faith.
*If *Christians did ‘flex their muscles’ with Islam, they had already been doing so prior to, and have done since.
I think you’re trying to suggest that Christianity owes a debt to Islam, even if it’s from a reaction to Islam.
The apologetic gradient between the early years of Christianity and the Late Middle Ages was, admittedly, much steeper in the West than in the East. I see your point and I agree with you.
