But the point is since the beginning of Chrisitanity Christians have been called to defend their faith.

*If *Christians did ‘flex their muscles’ with Islam, they had already been doing so prior to, and have done since.

I think you’re trying to suggest that Christianity owes a debt to Islam, even if it’s from a reaction to Islam.
I’m not suggesting Christianity owes a debt to Islam. But it is what it is. I just noticed that you are Orthodox. I was Orthodox for 12 years and I can see now why you may have responded the way you did.

The apologetic gradient between the early years of Christianity and the Late Middle Ages was, admittedly, much steeper in the West than in the East. I see your point and I agree with you.

Maybe not the Battle of Lepanto , but the Barbary War was America’s first war on terrorism. Check out the article below. It details some of the most barbaric violents by the Mohameddans in the name of religion. Terrorists hate the US because it supports Israel is balony. Islamists just hate everything West.

Okay, by what fathomable definition could the Barbary war and the Battle of Lepanto be “terrorism”?

Is every war terrorism?

The US doesn’t even “support” Israel because it’s Israel. We support Israel because we have a common enemy.

Much of what is now considered ‘Arabic’ art and science itself came from others; Jews, Hindus, Assyrians et al

One writer on the net was quite angered that the Assyrians weren’t counted for anything…

Yep read my post above. I always find it funny how Moslems claim to have invented the concept of zero when it was in fact invented by Hindus.

Who is ‘we’? You have been, since encountering you, an America, an Australian resident, a non-Moslem, and now, a Palestinian/Palestinian Moslem/Palestinian other
Don’t forget he used to be a Catholic Seminarian too. 👍

Yeah that’s the first thing I was going to say before I saw your post. LMAO @ “Islamic architecture” All the so-called ‘advances’ made by Islam at that time were really just the latest innovations that existed at that time for whatever culture they came along and took over at that moment. When they ran out of adjacent societies to ransack and leech off of these ‘advances’ came to a screeching halt.
Sorta like Saddam’s insane dream to be some sort of modern Neberkanezer.

This line of thought may be off-topic and I apologize. But in response to the above, we support Israel because it is a democracy. We also support Israel because of the dispensational eschatology of many American evangelicals along with an Israeli lobby in Washington that knows no equal.

Ol’ Pro has packed a lot of living into his 26 years. And he is an expert on Politics, theology, debate, he is psychic, obviously a world traveler, master of diplomacy and is more than likely a killer dancer. Someone like that can only get better. Abraham Lincoln said that “he once knew a man who loved the truth so much, that he never passed up the opportunity to embellish it.” Just like Pro.👍

I guess the last few posts really make the point of this thread don’t they?

Not only can we not have a discussion with Muslims and not get angry…we can’t have a discussion about Muslims without resorting to personal attacks when other people disagree.

hosemonkey,

I’d like to know in particular how you think mocking me, without even bothering to mention the subject matter of the thread, contributes to this discussion.

Not mocking you at all, Pro. Just pointing out your stellar qualifications to enlighten and entertain all of us lesser beings on these forums. I can’t imagine why you would get upset when all I have done is compliment you.

I’m not upset, I just wanted to offer you a chance to explain why you chose to take this thread off track in the direction of attacking me personally, rather than trying to advance the discussion about relations with Muslims.

Now that you’ve made it obvious, there isn’t much point in continuing with you.

To be honest, the topic of relations with moslems has become a dog chasing his tail. In spite of all the examples of moslem falsity and perfidiousness, the thuggish character of your so-called prophet and the vast patience of most of the posters, you still come up with the same tired old tactics, the same tired old arguments, the same tired old refusal to address the real issues. You are way too young to waste your time like this, you need to get either a job or a hobby.😛

Well, between the two of us, you’re the only one who has typed out what he thinks the other is thinking. So I’m confused as to why you start out with “you assume so much…”…what exaclty am I assuming here? And how is it different from you assuming what’s in my mind?

Okay, do you have any evidence of this at all? I think maybe you’re just confused. When was the last war between the West and Islam???
What about the Crusades?

What about the Crusades?
Exactly. Starting in 1095…exactly 912 years ago.

A war initiated by the Pope in Rome almost a millenium ago does not prove “constant warfare between Muslims and Christians.”

Pro, what about 9/11/2001? That’s when the latest war between moslems and the rest of the sane world started. Did you forget about that one?

So what we have is a pack of backward murderers who were good at math. Why has Islam descended into chaos and fanaticism? Do they truly blame it on the West or is the rot within? Does a false religion and a false prophet have anything to do with it?
This just seems like such a narrow minded and prejudiced view. It is throwing out a whole culture and race because some of them, or maybe even most of them are fanatics. It is like saying that Christians or Americans are terrorists based on the activities of the Ku Klux Klan! Were not the magi that came to adore the Newborn King from Persia (modern Iraq)?

But that was before Mohammed came along. Because of the actions of these fanatics, it has been reduced to war between East and West, not by us, but by them. The rantings of a two-bit Hitler in the person of the President of Iran makes this clear. He hates the Jews, he hates Christians, he hates anyone who is not in line with radical Islamic thought. All the others are being drug along and unless they resist this polarization by renouncing the aims of radical Islam, they are also the enemy. The aim of this kind of Islam is world domination and I, for one, will resist and speak out to my last drop of blood. The West tried to appease Hitler in 1938 and millions died. Have we learned nothing from that lesson?

What does race have to do with it?

Truly! Given you slectively address posts (you’ve not responded to my answer to your ‘challenge’) people have become aware of the type of ‘facts’ you present, represeting yourself as all manner of things, except ‘moslem’.

You even state that you understand Islam better than the head mufti in Australia - simply by virtue that he’s in Australia

If you want real dialogue to resume, then how about addressing the case of the Istambul pogrom in the 1950s

It wasn’t a war started by the Pope. At best it was a ‘campaign’ started by the Pope. The war began many centuries earlier when Islam attacked the Christian world, along with the Zoroastrian, Hindu, pagan, and other ‘worlds’ in an effort to spread peace
