Prostitues are the victims of this crime. Just look at the circumstance surrounding prostitutes, and why they enter such a profession.
Those conditions and circumstances would exists in spite of the prostitution. I am not condoning prostitution whatsoever, but the actual transaction of one person paying another person for sex in and of itself is victimless. The circumstances that surround prostitution typically are crimes in and of themselves and are exploitive in nature, thus making them not victimless.

The 13 year old runaway who is preyed upon by a pimp.
Exploitation and human slavery is an issue quite separate from the act of selling sex. Often the two are combined, but you are right, in the case you talk about there is a victim. But it is not necessarily causatively related.

I like the Dutch way of doing things. Prostitution there is a business, like any other. They pay rent and taxes, they have security. They get tested regularly and they get a retirement stipend if they do come up with some disease so they can get out of the business. It brings some dignity and safety to a profession that is as old as humanity itself. It’s not an ideal way for people to relate sexually, ant it’s not (much) my cup of tea, but the only people who benefit from criminalizing it are thug pimps and parasitic politicians who play righteous in public and then then visit prostitutes in secret (and usually demand the most horrid demeaning stuff of all johns).

It’s why I love the Canadians. They’re not the most ambitious or efficient lot, but they have sense.

I find it impossible to equate dignity with prostitution.

It’s a profession as old as humanity because there have always been “men” who are not men.

For those who support legalized prostitution I hope they are not upset if their daughters ‘choose’ that profession.

Saints preserve us! We’d be at war with someone in 6 months if he ever became Prime Minister.
Haha, he is quite a character! But, Premier Williams is a very good man. He is pro-life, and a good Catholic! Also, he does not receive a pay. 100% of his pay goes to charity! How many politicians do this?

There isn’t a good chance of him becoming PM, but I hope he stays Premier for a very long time!

The implication seems to be that women who choose to become prostitutes go into some pimp’s stable and must work the streets. No, I wouldn’t want my daughter to enter that “profession,” but there are women in it who earn high pay and have all the hygenic safety anyone could want - even in America.

Realize that what you think of as degrading may not be the same to another. Actors and actresses in porn films are often quite satisfied doing the work they do and consider it their profession.

The prostitute, the man, the man’s family. etc.
Are they victims of prostitution, or victims of infidelity? At its core, prostitution is merely infidelity for profit. The moral question that you want to address is marital infidelity.

And? That’s enough of a reason to legalize it?

While there are women who do perform as you state, the vast majority do not.

It may surprise you, but very few prostitutes can claim to make “Elliot Spitzer” sized fees.

Also fornication.
Well yes, sexual sin in general. But omitting one’s Sunday obligation is also a mortal sin, yet I don’t see a great deal of movement to make that legally mandatory.

Speaking of Elliot Spitzer…anyone catch his new show on that “objective” news channel - CNN?
