I will be voting in about an hour and a half after getting the kids to school. I will be voting Conservative, for Dr. James Lunney in my riding.

There, we know the Conservatives are getting at least one vote. šŸ˜›

And if you didn’t know that by now, you haven’t aid any attention to any of my election related posts over the last few weeks…

Anyone knocking at your door yet.

I wonder if the Conservatives will too many seats, will the courts up there invalidate the election because it may be a threat to their power.

Na! The courts are too comfortable to think anything could threaten their power.

We’ve got a spare room in the basement if you can make it across the border & get out west. You can stay until the conservatives do something notwithstanding, which never made any sense to me whatsoever, but, there it is.

If I can get to Victoria, I can take a ferry to Port Angeles. Will you take me in? I’ve been discussing how I voted… šŸ˜›

If I can get to Victoria, I’ll take the ferry to Staten Island.

So far I managed to do all my work and avoid the scowls of NDPers daring me to vote against their darling Jack. I met a whole slew of folks who are aiming their arched brows my direction and wailing that they don’t know who to vote for. And some who are just downright surly.

Soon I am going to across the street and picking me up some truly Canadian celebratory beverage in the form of a 6-pack of Guinness. 😃

Ha! Captains Quarters made the CBC. Sheesh, two more hours til the polls close out East. What’s taking them so long?

A fellow Canadian of yours on the Forums just PM’ed me asking what party should he/she vote for. After reading this thread, I suggested to vote for the Tory’s.

I gave the link to this thread to this person and that person may write.

Maybe you’all need to be more vocal to get other fellow Canadians to know more about your presence on the Forums. It certainly wouldn’t hurt!

As a side note, I’ve been to Canada only once in my life, and I heard that a ferry system may be started here in Cleveland to go ā€˜across the pond’. If it happens, I’m there to visit all of you Up North again!

Really? We’ve got several threads in several forums going on the topic. Granted, most of them are here in the Secular News forum, but there are threads in the Water Cooler and Spirituality as well. There might even be one in the Culture of Death forum.

Ar! Half an hour more before CQ starts illegally blogging the Eastern results. God bless America. Ar!

Crazy stuff has started happening already. What are those Maritimers doing? They are supposed to be voting so we can get the results!

Man drives truck over ballot box in Nova Scotia
Police say a man ran into a polling station in New Glasgow, N.S., grabbed a ballot box and drove over it with his truck… In the latest incident, the box was destroyed, but the ballots inside were recovered and placed in a new box, said Elections Canada spokesman Dana Doiron…

In the 2000 election, a man walked into a New Glasgow polling station on voting day, placed a note in front of an elections officer and fled with a ballot box containing 125 ballots. An off-duty officer caught the man, but not before he had thrown the box into a nearby lagoon…

A few days earlier, a ballot box containing 140 ballots cast in an advance poll was stolen in Victoria. Seals on the cardboard box weren’t broken, and local candidates agreed to let the ballots stand.

Ice jam couldn’t stop this man from voting
Bob Bartlett lives in Riley Brook in the riding of Tobique-Mactaquac. He got stranded last week when warm temperatures and heavy rain caused flooding in the Tobique River. The water has receded, but it left a three-kilometre ice jam blocking the road.

Bartlett decided to pick his way through the mess of ice and water on the road. He says he couldn’t allow democracy to pass him by. "I said, ā€˜No, that’s not the right thing to do. I got to get out of here and go cast my ballot.’

"So a friend of mine, Bill Miller come down to pick me up in his truck, but he come down the other side of the ice jam. I just walked up through the ice jam, half a mile from my home here. ā€œSo I just maneuvered up through the ice and he drove me over to the station and I voted.ā€
That’s how we speak. I betcha the truck was a Dodge Ram too.

Buddy come by in ā€˜is Dodge Ram, pick me up, an’ we go down d’othr sida th’ ice jam. Jus walk up troo th’ice jam, dere, haffa mile from my home dere.

I like the use of the word manoevred.

Hey Lapsed! Got any weird stories out there in the Van?

What, San Francisco north? Tonnes of weird stories, none suitable for a Catholic site. šŸ˜›

I’m not in Van, actually. I’m on the Island, in Nanaimo, home of the famous ā€œbars.ā€

Things seem pretty quiet in this neck of the woods. No sasquatches stealing ballot boxes in Squamish yet, though apparently Ogopogo voted this morning.

The wierdest news of the day from BC might end up being the return of Svend Robinson to Parliment. Personally I’m hoping he and Heddy Fry split the wingnut vote and the Tory candidate comes up the middle to take the riding.

Heh - looks like my ISP is blocking access to the Captain’s Quarters. It times out almost immediately.

It was with me for a bit. But I got into the site through the Gomery blog link and then clicked on today’s date. Looks like its slowly loading today’s blog.

Ok I got onto day’s blog but there is a new story on there.

I just clicked Canadas Day of Reckoning. Nope, won’t let me in. Clicked it again. I’m nothing if I am not persistent. Looks like its gonna let me in. Loading…loading… Sheesh, that page is so huge.

It got me to the page, but there is nothing but links on it. Just an empty blue expanse in the centre. Talk about weird stories.
