CNN’s poll today showed that most people who vote for Trump in the primary said they wouldn’t vote for him in the general! I don’t get that! Why vote for him in the primary if you’re not going to vote for him in the general? But as we’ve both said, the polls haven’t been that great.
Seriously?? That is a weird poll. Maybe a lot of Democrat voters are voting for Trump in open primaries? But even that seems frankly crazy (or stupid). Why?? Politics is just confusing.🤷

Do you think it’s extreme optimism or delusion?
Tend to think delusion, but I don’t want to be rude. Senator Rubio is a southern guy and he will strike out on Super Tuesday. When the primaries turn north, Governor Kasich will play better, so Rubio losses there too. Even when people drop out, he isn’t beating Mr. Trump.

I think if it were him and Trump, he’d be showing good efforts but losing 60-40 like Senator Sanders is losing to Secretary Clinton.

To me, if Biden could run and have a governor kasich from Ohio as his running mate. Man that would be an ideal tag team.
Biden is pro abortion and Kasich seems to be ok violating religious consciences, so no not ideal.

It’s amazing how much the establishment wants to say the guy who loses the first 12 states will be the nominee.
The establishment wants what the establishment wants.
It’s their Govt after all, voters should stop interfering.

Didn’t some of the parents of those men and women who died in the Middle East blamed bush and Cheney for going to a war that was not necessary? Are those parents wrong? Or is bush and Cheney guilty of their deaths?
I’m not a Bush or Chaney fan by any stretch, but neither of them were in office when Benghazi happened.

And BTW, neither of them have held office in the last 8years nor are either of them running now.

But if you complain about Benghazi, which unfortunately had 4 individuals killed, shouldn’t those men and women that lost their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan be respected?

Why not have Cheney and bush held responsible. I get it, their term ended 8 years ago, but they were who sent our soldiers oversees.

Obama calls Afghanistan the good war; so terrorists attacked us from there but we do nothing? I know, one might say we should have bombed them and left.

Also, Saddam was convicted of genocide. Why do we allow people to get away with genocide? I don’t think so.

If we go through this, again, Obama and Clinton support millions of American lives being snuffed out.

When was saddam convicted? Last time I checked it happened in the early 90s. How then can bush say ten years later let’s go get him. Yes I know 9/11 but I think you and I well know, 9/11 wasn’t really a saddam Hussein thing. Yet we went to Iraq.

I’m not taking the, “Bobby did it too” bait. Especially when you are comparing soldiers in a war zone that are trained and volunteer to fight for our country to a coverup of the facts in Benghazi.

Are you forgetting that both parties voted to go to war? It’s not like Congress didn’t declare war here.

A quick google search confirms

Handing Bush a major victory, the **Democratic-led Senate voted 77-23 for a war powers resolution **negotiated between the White House and congressional leaders backing a possible use of force to rid Iraq of suspected weapons of mass destruction and possibly oust Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.
The Republican-led House earlier on Thursday passed it 296-133.

Regardless the subject of Iraq and Bush’s presidency are really off topic for this thread. Unless we want to discuss the fact that Clinton voted for the war as a senator.

And the result of that additude ,is what we are seeing in this political cycle.I have listened to a lot of interesting commentary on the radio, suggesting that this really is the demise of thevRepublucsn Party.Something new will arise out of this. The party is so fractured and working against itself, largely because of the Mitch McConnels et all…

So basically as a country were screwed bc both parties don’t really stand for what they preach?

Yes, having their back against the wall is surfacing some strange emotional responses from some leaders, making them look desperate. The attack on tax returns is the height of hypocrisy by Mitt and several others.

Looking at the early results, Trump is winning every State except TX. With Cruz winning two states, I don’t see anyone dropping out soon.

I wonder if all this chaos can be blamed on Romney, he’s showed no leadership since losing in 2012. Typically the last nominee operates as the defacto spokesman. I like Mitt but think he just dropped the ball and walked away after losing.

I think you’d have to go back GWB. I understand that folks like to pile on him and that’s not my intent, but I think there’s a reason he’s largely been (kept?) quiet since leaving office.

Perhaps you have not noticed that those former presidents who have class have not commented on prior presidents or on their successors. There is enough blame to go around if blame one must.

I mean that he hasn’t been stumping for any house, senate, gubernatorial, or presidential candidates. Not speaking against Obama is one thing – not being invited or encouraged to engage in party affairs is another. In the wake of GWB, the party’s central message seems to be unclear. Maybe splitting the party would be a positive at this point. Those who are traditional Reagan-esque conservatives can follow Rubio, those who espouse Tea Party views can follow Cruz, and we can just get rid of Trump altogether. 😛

Perhaps they think Trump, because of his high negatives, will be easier for Hillary to beat than the other candidates. Those who crossed over in the primary and just go back in the general and vote for Hillary. Either way, the country loses.

My thoughts exactly!Hopefully there are Republicans crossing over in support for the Bern!;)😉

How is Cruz a sellout?
His wife was a VP at Goldman Sacs. How in the world is that not a conflict of interest? Even if she did step down for her husband’s campaign. She was a VP when all of those bailouts were happening.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Cruz is golfing buddies with half of those scumbags who scammed the taxpayers out of a lot of money.
He is just as bad as everyone else.

It doesn’t make any sense. First of all, because Trump supporters tend to stay behind him 110% and there is very little that will change their mind.

There is no way someone who is actively voting for Trump and choosing to vote for Trump could support Hillary.

She is the apex of everything totally wrong with Washington. She is conniving, corrupt, diabolical and will completely destroy this country if she makes President.

Trump isn’t a politician…and that is the biggest reason why people are voting for him. He isn’t apart of the establishment in their minds because he wasn’t elected to office.
