The fact that he isn’t a politician makes him an attractive candidate for me.

I feel comfortable voting for him as a Catholic voter.

His stance on immigration is the number one reason why I support him. I don’t support any of the other candidates because immigration for them is a touchy subject.

I like Trump’s plan for immigration.

If he wasn’t pro-life…I wouldn’t be voting for him at all. I’d be doing a write-in ballot instead.

His actual words when interviewed by Bloomberg and specifically asked were “he’s pro-life with caveats and if the caveats don’t apply to you then it depends WHEN you want the abortion”.

That isn’t my definition of pro-life. I think the only abortions he’s specifically stated he’s against is partial birth abortion ( which I’m glad he’s at least against that). The fact that he even says " it depends when" means he’s fine with probably 90% of abortions that are happening now, IMO.

I’ll give him this, he’s very good at double speak and telling people what they want to hear so they have a sound bite to try and convert people. He has an answer for everything, if you don’t pay attention enough to notice the contradicting statements.
 
Wow, Sanders is winning Colorado, Oklahoma and Alaska. I just don’t want Clinton to get the nomination.

See, this is what I don’t understand. :confused: Why? If you want to win a court battle, you get a lawyer. It doesn’t matter if lawyers are sleazy in general or not (and often, that’s a false misperception anyway, fueled by a minority of bad lawyers). You don’t go and hire the local debate team president; he might be able to do the job, but there’s no guarantee. If you want to win the case, get a lawyer. If you want to win the election and run the country, get a politician (the best one available). Getting someone who doesn’t know what he’s doing seems to spell disaster. 🤷

With all due respect, what about his plan makes you like him? It seems to me that Trump shouts a lot, but he doesn’t seem to actually have a plan that’s more than loud rhetoric. Build a giant wall and make another country do it. Fine with me, but how is he going to perform this incredible task? Trump has an idea of a miracle he wants accomplished, but he doesn’t seem to have any miraculous solutions to get us there, in my opinion.

In addition, his plan comes across as racist, which is the last thing we need – particularly since we will lose senate members if the Democrat can smear the Republicans because of him. [Also, we need the Hispanic vote to win the general.] Cruz and Marco have more reasonable, very strict plans, and have the bonus of being Hispanic, which makes the charges of racism difficult to pin on them :). The worst we might get from them is a push for amnesty – which they will get blasted for in the senate and house if they try. Seems like a win/win for me.

Yes, it is mostly about immigration with Trump with a lot of people.

We can’t give our country away and we shouldn’t let people break the law. Too, a lot of bad heroin is coming into the country, overdoses and so on. This should not happen and the border should be secured.

I think it’s actually Colorado, Oklahoma, and Minnesota. I’m not seeing returns yet for Alaska.
 
Trump 3rd in Minnesota with 21% as of now; nbcnews.com/politics/2016-election/primaries/MN

So, I think actually, this will be his worse showing. He didn’t come to the state either. Iowa 2nd place.

Still, 3rd place showings in other states with 21% might have been okay for other candidates.

Sanders defeated Clinton by about 17 points in MN as “projected” winner.
 
Bernie Sanders played on some sort of relationship that he knew the former US Senator, the late Paul Wellstone; so I think Wellstone was an ultra-lib but aside from one issue as usual, Wellstone may have been a good compassionate liberal-type of guy.

The pundits were joking about this on CNN: “Well you know what they say, as the Minnesota caucus goes so goes the nation.” to roaring laughter. Rubio is finished and the final nail will be Trump taking Florida. But really, I feel this night should be about poor Mr. Carson and his sad tally of 6 delegates that didn’t make any new friends tonight. He really should just walk away.

Yes, a retired POTUS has lost/abdicated his mandate to lead the party. Post GWB it was McCain and then Romney who were the defacto leaders.

Love her or hate her, it was only Palin who tried to fill that role post 2008. Post 2012 both Romney and Ryan were living in a cone of silence.

Yes, Dr. Carson should walk away. He’s does better than anyone who attempted murder over a radio station could have asked.

I expect Governor Kasich to hang in there until Ohio at least, but you have to wonder if their goal is to get enough delegates to have some say in a brokered convention instead of any real possibility of winning.

Senator Rubio will get some serious funding for a bit here, so I don’t think he’s going anywhere, but I don’t think he’ll win either.

Why wouldn’t Romney live in a “cone of silence”? He lost to Obama in 2012 in an election that many say he should have won, and he also ran unsuccessfully in 2008 for the GOP nomination. He even toyed with the idea of running again this year. But honestly, enough is enough.

I wonder the same. Yet I also still wonder if Donald Trump goes in with a plurality if they will risk alienating his voters who might then enmasse walk out of Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, riot, and not walk into the voting booth after. Although maybe they don’t care if they think either way they are likely to go down in defeat. July could have some must watch TV though.
