Wow!I just sent in my letter asking for transfer to the UGCC, prayers please!
Mazal Tov! And many blessings!!I just sent in my letter asking for transfer to the UGCC, prayers please!
Isn’t it two letters? One to your current bishop and one to the bishop you want to be received by?I just sent in my letter asking for transfer to the UGCC, prayers please!
Not to be nosy, is this a personal choice? I am not aware that a wife must approve of a transfer.I haven’t put my application in yet. Still waiting for my wife to agree.
I understand now.I need the permission of my Bishop first before I ask the UGCC Bishop if he will accept my petition.
Of course, Brother! Please keep this intention in your prayers if you would be so kind!I understand now.
It is two letters but you do not send the second one until the positive answer to the first one.
Makes sense when I think about it.
Thanks!
Consider it done, please keep us updated.Of course, Brother! Please keep this intention in your prayers if you would be so kind!

Bishop has asked that we do it as a family. Not to be nosy, is this a personal choice? I am not aware that a wife must approve of a transfer.
Has the Apostolic See already granted you its permission to transfer churches?I need the permission of my Bishop first before I ask the UGCC Bishop if he will accept my petition.
Their permission is assumed in most cases.Has the Apostolic See already granted you its permission to transfer churches?
Rome is normally only involved if an Eastern Catholic requests to transfer to the Latin Church. West going East is handled by the ordinaries.Has the Apostolic See already granted you its permission to transfer churches?
Any idea why that is?Rome is normally only involved if an Eastern Catholic requests to transfer to the Latin Church.
Why is it assumed rather than applied for? I know in the Latin Code of Canon Law that Canon 112 §1 1° it says that canonical transfer between churches requires the permission of the Holy See. As that’s in the Latin Code, I infer it means at least Latins going East must do this. I don’t know what the Code for the Oriental Churches or the particular laws of any Eastern/Oriental church says on the matter.Their permission is assumed in most cases.
