Can't Wrap My Head Around Mariology

First I’d have to believe there is a Supernatural Being of some kind, then I’d have to get from there to a benevolent Deity and from there to the God of Christianity and then from there to the God of Christianity as taught by the Catholic Church, and all that entails, such as Mariology, sacraments and so on.

I don’t think that’s going to happen.

But I do enjoy the company of most Catholics here, and I’ve enjoyed learning, and continuing to learn, about the Catholic Faith.

Thanks for your candid response. One more question if I may: what is your primary objection to the idea of a supernatural being?

I don’t object to the idea of a Supernatural Being.

If one exists, that’s great 🙂

I just don’t see any evidence for the existence of one.

Nothing I’ve seen, read, studied, experienced, nor the studies and experiences of others that have been shared with me or that I’m aware of, convince me that such a Being exits.

In fact, rather ironically, the more reading I’ve undertaken the better I’ve come to understand why we - the human race - have a desire and need for such a Being to exist and to have created us with the promise of eternal existence in some heavenly realm.

We - the human race - seem to have a big problem in accepting we’re really nothing more than a mammal with a limited, one time, shot at life, after which, that’s it.

I have no such problem with this.

However I’m pretty sure if I ever did find this faith you’re all gifted with, the only Church I could ever convert to, having read up on many faiths not just Catholicism, is the Catholic Church. 🙂

An excellent book for you to read is the recent “Making Sense of Mary”, by Gary Michuta. Because he writes the book using Protestant terminology. He says he saw a need for books about Mary that didn’t use Catholic terminology, but were tailored to Protestants. He starts off the stating 3 basic rules for the book: (1) Christ alone saves, (2) God’s plan of redemption is perfect, complete, and lacking in nothing, and (3) Satan’s defeat is perfect, complete, and lacking in nothing. He says, “When we apply these 3 rules to the biblical truth surrounding the Fall and Our Redemption, Catholic Marian doctrines will become more understandable”. The book is also available as an ebook. You can download a free sample from amazon with the first chapter.

I just discovered that Amazon Prime members can download and borrow this book to read for free, which is what I just did!

Would just like everyone on here who helped me to know that I will be having a sit down and preliminary talk with a certain Fr. Alfredo Monacelli fairly soon. Once that ball gets rolling I will link to some pictures of the parish I will be attending.

In Christ,

James
