Most folks would agree. However, since Pope Francis had requested him to speak at the consortium, and afterwards publicly lauded his speech, I have the sense he could issue a Motu Proprio of his own, depending on the debates and the conclusions of the majority. I have the utmost confidence in our Pope. When he was elected, I had a full day of spiritual rejoicing that was not of this world, and knew he was special!! 😉

I thought he book was about mercy? Mercy isn’t the issue. His book isn’t the issue, it’s some of his ideas.

With all respect, allowing couples to commit sacrilege isn’t mercy. Have a better way of teaching them about the sacraments, inviting them to adoration, inviting them to prayer groups, encouraging them to share their story as a way to prevent others from the same situation… that’s mercy.

But having them commit sacrilege isn’t.

That was another book. “The Gospel of the Family” is the one that contained his speech to the consistory and is the one about which I have been speaking. You have missed some of my comments. The first 4 chapters of the book are exceptionally beautiful theology on the family. The last Chapter 5 is the only one that I believe Burke is adamant about.

“Mercy: The Essence of the Gospel and the Key to Christian Life” is the book you’re thinking about. It carries a majority rating of 5-stars.

May I suggest that you hold up on your judgment of his “mercy” book, since I am pretty sure that Pope Francis has expressed his esteem for that writing. If you haven’t read it, best to zip the lip. 😉
