I had a feeling this would happen. After Cardinal Dolan made it known that he offered to pray at both conventions, it would have made them look bad to not accept his offer when the Republicans did.

We should all unite our prayers with Cardinal Dolan. Our politiicians and our elections definitely need prayer.

It’s their wishful thinking.

Why would Dolan agree to speak at a convention of a candidate when he believes it would be objectively wrong to vote for them. This would be scandal correct my GOP friends?

I really hope not. 😦

I don’t remember people being so critical of Pope Benedict for meeting with Obama and Nancy Pelosi. 🤷 Obviously, standing next to someone shows that you offer them your full and unwavering support. 😛

Dolan’s appearance to pray at both conventions is not a sign of endorsement for either side. He is there to pray.

We pray for our president and leaders at every mass in our parish. It does not mean we agree with them. I pray for conversion of pro abort politicians every day too.

Exactly. I don’t expect Cardinal Dolan to tailor his prayer to the Democrat or Republican agendas…

Or ever, for at least two good reasons that you should know better than anyone here:

  1. *]Political parties and candidates change over time.

    *]Federal law prohibits non-profits from endorsing or opposing candidates for political office [even if it is selectively enforced].

    But anyone with an IQ above room temperature can read between the lines. When the bishops say you can’t support pro-abortion candidates, it’s pretty clear who they are telling you who “must go”.

The exchange I had with Tighty Whitey wasn’t about what he or I was reading between the lines, but about what some bishop actually said.

We aren’t in a courtroom. As an attorney, you should know that there are any number of ways of saying something without actually saying it.
