Cardinal George apologizes for linking Pride Parade to KKK

Yeah, now they are even more strengthened by his reply about how we are still discussing it. That’s a terrible reply and FAR worse than his comparison.

He was annoyed by it because they marched right in front of the church on a Sunday, during Mass, taking a different route than usual, and shouting loudly to prove a point. Most of these parades have bestiality floats, masochistic floats, and Man/boy floats, which is utter filth, and could be considered very similar to the KKK in the depth of evil.
Homosexuality isn’t exactly a light sin. It’s a sin that’ll ground you in hell, especially for shoving it down others’ throats and participating in others’ sins.

👍 I hope he does.
I don’t think I’m mistaken in saying that this fight is about next summer’s gay pride parade. When the organizers heard of the the dispute, they agreed to change the route and not conflict with mass goers. I don’t thing the KKK would have been quite as agreeable. and I think the Cardinal was right to apologize.
As far as what goes on at any particular parade, I don’t know.

His analogy is inappropriate. The KKK is a terrorist organization. The group organizing the “Gay Pride” march is not.
I notice that you are in Japan, perhaps an expatriate, but maybe not. The KKK is most famous for the lynching of black Americans in the south, but that is not all they did, nor primarily what they did.

They also burned crosses on Catholic Church property. They would have marches to intimidate the populace. A friend in her 90s said that their children would throw rocks at the Catholic children on their way to school while the parents watched from the doorway. They intimidated. They hated Catholicism and actively worked against it.

This is very similar to what the homosexual activists are doing, or what my spouse likes to now call the QKK (Queer Klux Klan). I guess GKK might be more politically correct, but the more militant use the Q word to describe themselves, so Q seems more appropriate.

Yes, I presently live and work in Japan, but I am from Louisiana and I’m fairly familiar with the KKK and their hatred of Catholics, Jews, immigrants and Black persons. I do not think the activities of the KKK are similar to the activities of most homosexual activists. I do not recall homosexual activists burning anything on anyone’s front lawn to intimidate them or homosexuals lynching anyone. There have been homosexuals who have been lynched and murdered because they were homosexual. Homosexuals have been jailed in the past for their activities or for congregating in drinking establishments. Whatever anyone thinks about homosexuality, I don’t believe anyone should be persecuted for being homosexual. Homosexuals have been more victimized than hetersexuals in history, so I think it is a bit dangerous to label homosexuals as similar to members of the KKK.

Why are you comparing homosexuals with heterosexuals? The comparison should be between homosexuals and Catholicism, because Catholicism is what is being persecuted by the homosexuals.

There have been Catholics murdered because they are Catholic. The No Nothing party in the 1800s was violently anti-Catholic. The Mexicans in the southwest lost their property because they were Catholic. (I got that from an autobiography of a nun who knew Billy the Kid) Maryland was originally settled by and for Catholics but eventually were persecuted in that state. People have lost their jobs or been denied employment because they are Catholic. Public schools were instituted to fight Catholicism. Catholics have been persecuted in the US for a long time, that’s how we so easily recognize it.

NO ONE here is advocating harm to any homosexuals. There’s not even been any complaints about employment or housing. However, I am advocating that we be able to practice our religion. The militants homosexuals are the ones shoving and punching, and we are simply not moving.

I think Mr. Abbot is reading a bit too much into this. He can’t imagine that natural law can ever be changed, so why does the Cardinal refer to ongoing discussions? Well, an ongoing discussion doesn’t necessarily mean that one is considering changing one’s position on a given topic. It may also mean that one is attempting to clarify one’s position on the topic so that others may understand it more easily. Perhaps that is what the Cardinal means when he refers to ongoing discussions.
I agree. We still have to have ongoing discussions with the “gay community.” That doesn’t mean we change our teaching on marriage and chastity.

That said, I don’t think an apology was necessary…other than to say “I’m sorry it was taken the way some people took it.” There are some parallels to the anti-Catholicism of the KKK, even though the violence is less with the pro-Gay movement.

Sorry but when have gays used violence to further their gay agenda?

I mean other than glittering people.
Too many times. I’m not going to go searching around for links to post. All you have to do is google “Gay Pride Parade” or “Gay Pride” and you have your proof. Not to mention the California Bill (can’t recall the # of the Bill that was up for a vote) that they boycotted and ruined businesses, and then protested and physically assaulted people. I’m sorry too, but the gay activists are thugs.

I googled Gay Pride Parade = All I got was links to various cities’ events

I googled Gay Pride = LGBT info sites

I googled gay pride violence = Incidents in Croatia and Russia were there was violence…but it was all straight on gay violence.

I didn’t want to take time to do this but:

Granted, this is not main stream news, but I don’t think your going to get a whole lot of coverage from them.

The aim of the Gay movement is to “destroy civilization?” Have you read this in their pamphlet or something, or is this just over the top rhetoric on your part?
Not too far from what our Beloved Benedict said last week (and I quote,) **“Gay marriage is a threat to humanity’s future” **

An Anonymous phone call threat and a text message stating “perhaps we should bomb people in order to be taken seriously” are both in of themself morally reprehensible actions, however, the KKK actually lynched people.

When it comes down to violence I am afraid the gays are overwhelmingly the victims. (Either indirectly by commiting suiceide due to bullying or directly by being at the wrong place at the wrong time when a homophobic person shows up with a gun (Danny Overstreet)

Here is a video on about 100 gay victims of hate crimes

So none of those were perpetrated by the Catholic Church or anyone representing the Catholic Church. So why are you persecuting us?

And you’re not seriously saying that there have been more homosexual victims of violence than Catholics??!!! I don’t know if anyone’s documented Catholics who were killed by homosexuals, we could start with the Roman emperors, Nero, Caligula.

But I’m more worried that the QKK is trying to kill our souls by stopping the practice of our religion.

I have never claimed that the Cardinal was correct to compare gay activists to the KKK. I have argued however, that the activists have terrorized, intimidated and tried to silence Christians on speaking out for their faith and the truth of their faith. They are bullys that sometimes go too far. Actually, I would call them thugs. They are not helping their cause. Here is another one just recently:

No one is going after Holy Mother Church. The claim was that gays were violent, the truth is that there is far more violence against gays by straight people.

Yes Caligula and Nero hated Christians because they were straight. Look, its not a contest over which group has more martyrs. The Church and gays have both been targets of violence. That is the sad truth.

Besides, No one here is making the argument that Catholics are killing homosexuals, I am only pointing out how the claim that gay rights activists are just as violent as the KKK is silly.

Thank goodness he apologized. That was an unfair, inaccurate, and cruel analogy he used.
More of a poor choice of words. I would have used the term “dangerous bullys” out to intimidate Christians who speak truth.

It’s funny that gay activists attack the Catholic Church considering the Church’s anti-violent attitude and teaching towards homosexuals. There are Protestant groups which are far more vocal and which don’t draw the line at male to male sex acts but at same sex attraction (even with chastity). Or maybe I’m wrong, maybe outside of Westboro, all Evangelical groups are pretty tolerant?

Also considering that for many years priesthood was a viable occupation for gay men, they did not have to justify their lack of female companionship.

I’m not comparing homosexuals to heterosexuals. I’m saying that it seems funny to think of homosexuals as “terrorists,” as some posters seem to be doing, when in fact, homosexuals have more often been the victims of hatred and terror at the hands of heterosexuals. I’m familiar with anti Catholic bigotry in Mexico, the U.S. and other places and in no way condone it, but neither do I condone bigotry against anyone else either, including homosexuals. This is not to say that I approve of homosexuality or disagree with the Church’s position on homosexuality. I don’t. I certainly disagree with bigotry, especially if it seems to come from a leading Churchman.
I agree that we should be free to practice our faith and to be free from intimidation. I’m sure there are many people out there, including militant homosexuals, who wish to harm the Church and her mission. We should stand up for our faith and oppose those who wish to harm us, but I don’t think that means throwing false accusations against these people. In many cases I think it means turning the other cheek, as our Lord taught us to do, and get on with our business, treating everyone fairly and kindly. To throw false accusations against homosexuals, or anyone else, such as calling them terrorists, is in fact, to cause them harm and to place individual homosexuals in a precarious position. As Christians, it is not something we should engage in.

Not too far from what our Beloved Benedict said last week (and I quote,) **“Gay marriage is a threat to humanity’s future” **
I agree. Gay marriage is a threat to the future of humanity in a variety of ways. This is not the same thing as saying the aim of the Gay Movement is to destroy humanity. I do not believe this is the stated aim of the Gay Movement or of homosexuals, and if Pope Benedict, or anyone else, claims that it is the stated aim of this movement, then I would have the right to ask for documentary proof.

You used the terrorist word, not the Bishop. He used the KKK word, probably because of the similarities of how the KKK marched in the street to intimidate Catholics, just as this parade was planning to do. That was the similarity and it was very accurate.

If you don’t want people to call attention to your behavior, don’t behave that way. Or man up and take it. Don’t try to shut down the churches on a Sunday morning and especially with lewd parades. Don’t act like the KKK. And don’t say that you’re so much a victim that you can’t ever possibly be the perpetrator.

Personally, if you believe the 10% figure that Kinsey gave, for the percentage of the population with homosexual tendencies, your statistics don’t prove there’s any more violence against homosexuals as any other group. Those 100 people in the youtube video spanned the world and time. That’s a pretty small amount of people. Homosexuals in the US make more money and have more political power than other groups. That’s how they got political victim status with the civil rights laws.

I’m really disappointed to see this turn of events. Ongoing discussion? The only people I see having an ongoing discussion on it are dissenters of Church teaching.
