Yes and no. Some threads around here have disappeared because Catholics made more than a few replies directly supporting violent and extreme prolife activities. The threads couldn’t simply be edited and ended up disappearing altogether. I give the mods credit for being proactive.
Either way, the political threads on these boards tend to be rather “my side’s faults are less than your side’s faults.”

YES, this is a controversial priest. I don’t like all he does nor do I condone all his tactics. Yet, I trust Cardinal George in this and I think he knows all the Fr. Pfleger has done for his community. This priest really lives his beliefs, and I think he loves the people he serves. If more priests were that involved this world would be a better place.

I find fault when his parish blatantly breaks the rules of the Catholic Church, and I think that is up to Cardinal George to take care of. I also find fault when he does race baiting things, but that is not what this thread is about.

I think we have to put some faith in our Cardinals and Bishops. We are not aware of all the facts. The Pope is under attack, and many of our Bishops and Cardinals are also. We don’t need Michele Malkin to judge Cardinal George’s awards. I like Michele but this is not politics, and I am tired of all things being criticized about our church.

I’m totally a true born and raised Chicagoan.
My advantage? I’m 64 yrs old and a retired social worker.

I know real-live Catholic WHITE families who are active members of St. Sabina’s.
They are NOT freaking-out liberals. They simply like the truth he’s said about Chicago.

Like Fr. Pflerger, they were raised in rock-solid racist parishes and schools back in the day. Now these folks, their grown children, young in-laws and grandchildren WORSHIP at St. Sabina’s. Loooooonng before legalized abortion came along to sicken folks, the primary sin of Chicago was very likely racism and it ain’t dead yet. It might be that Father has gone around the bend a few times as a result of being held in such disdain by white, yippity-yap, supposed Catholics. It’s a wonder he hasn’t gone insane. Before anyone criticizes him, they need to live and work in other places where it isn’t home-sweet-home.

Ever heard of reversed racism? Like what the firemen (oops firepersons) who went to the Supreme Court and won because they were discriminated against because they weren’t a minority?

The topic of this thread is Michael Pfleger not the racial demographics of his parish.

Tell me why working to solve inner city slums and violence causes one to have pro abortion speakers at your Church and calumniate politicians with charges of racism, make apparent death threats to people (even if the gun shop owner is as guilty as sin, we are not permitted in a civilized society to act as executioner or call for one’s death).

the given-privilege of WHITE, the safety of WHITE.

I think you have made some good points. I don’t care for some of the things he does at St. Sabinas. If you look at the bulletin you can find some points for discussion. The parish has done some controversial things and brought in some controversial speakers. However, I think we need to trust Cardinal Frances George in this matter. Fr. Pfleger HAS DEVOTED HIS LIFE TO SERVICE, and that is what this award is for. I too have thought at times his language has been race baiting, however I am not going to judge him. He has lived in a very challenging community in Chicago and he has walked the walk people. He most likely deserves this award, in spite of any objections we “arm chair quaterbacks” could have.

and I can’t stand behind all of Father’s actions.
HOWEVER, I’m not called to judge him either and
just like you, I trust Cardinal George in this matter.

Oh yes I am judging him, condemning him to Hell and all that terrible stuff. Oh wait, no I just find fault when he falsely accuses Hilary Clinton of being a racist and making death threats against citizens. Now I haven’t read all your posts where you address his excesses but I would hope that since we are both Catholics who value the truth, we would find fault (not a yard arm to hang him) with what he has done in the examples that I have given.

If it weren’t for Fr. Phleger going door to door throughout his neighborhood the past four years urging the community to find the murderer of Willie Williams III since 2006, the murderer would have never been found. It was through his tireless efforts and the love for his community that some closure has finally come to this case.

People in this forum just don’t “get it” and I doubt you *ever *will “get it.”

peary, yes. Father has accomplished endless good in his parish for 18 years. Will I ever judge him for his lapses? No - and I hope I’m never judged for mine. Do I care at all about the hurt feelings of Hilary Clinton? Nope. She is always pro-abortion, just like obama.
