Here we have it again! Another cardinal admitting that this theory would be a change in church teaching while those in favor of the proposal keep insisting it would only a change in pastoral discipline. Hopefully by the time of the synod such an obvious contradiction will be exposed for what it is. The Church cannot change dogma.A third German-speaking cardinal has joined in questioning the notion that the Church must change its teaching on marriage, with Cardinal Kurt Koch saying that Church leaders should not be too quick to adjust teachings to suit the “life realities” of the faithful.
I do not understand this whole idea of splitting pastoral practice or discipline from doctrine championed by the Kasper group. To me it seems to say: Yes, we believe Jesus, we just don’t have to OBEY him. Here we have it again! I agree.I do not understand this whole idea of splitting pastoral practice or discipline from doctrine championed by the Kasper group.
That is their purpose - saying that doctrine is not to be changed, but use the change of discipline to get what they want. The confusion is purposely created. Like you said, to split it long enough to skilfully destroy the doctrine.Keep splitting long enough and there won’t be any more meaningful doctrine left.
