Thank you Cardinal Koch!

I think this is especially important because Cardinals Koch and Cordes (not to mention Muller) are from in and around Germany.

And Cardinal Muller also just said:

“Francis would like that people in difficult situations were not abandoned, but accompanied and accepted in the community, without however eliminating parts of the Church’s doctrine”, says Mueller, talking on the synodal theme of communion with remarried divorcees."

Wonderful!
I love his point about public opinion being treated like a third part of Revelation, along with Sacred Scripture and the Magisterium. That’s one for the toolbox!

Here we have it again! Another cardinal admitting that this theory would be a change in church teaching while those in favor of the proposal keep insisting it would only a change in pastoral discipline. Hopefully by the time of the synod such an obvious contradiction will be exposed for what it is. The Church cannot change dogma.

This thread really confused me at first because Germany has another Bishop with the name of Koch, who shall we say is a bit different.

I do not understand this whole idea of splitting pastoral practice or discipline from doctrine championed by the Kasper group. To me it seems to say: Yes, we believe Jesus, we just don’t have to OBEY him. 😦

I agree.

Keep splitting long enough and there won’t be any more meaningful doctrine left.

Some of the Trent doctrines have already been severely undermined by so-called disciplinary changes.

That is their purpose - saying that doctrine is not to be changed, but use the change of discipline to get what they want. The confusion is purposely created. Like you said, to split it long enough to skilfully destroy the doctrine.
