The silencing and discouragement isn’t usually a situation where men are explicitly told not to talk or told they can’t do things. It’s about subtle conditioning. It is usually a situation where those in charge set a liberal climate of opinion and assumptions which discourages men from speaking or acting boldly and heroically, and which discourages anyone from upholding and defending traditional Catholic doctrine and traditional moral standards. It’s about
Well the last time I checked it is also men that are in charge.

Like it or not, the ball is in the men’s court. Don’t like what is happening, fix it.

Men are natural problem solvers right?

Homosexual persons are attracted to members of the same sex
Heterosexual persons are attracted to opposite sex
Peadophiles molest children of either sex
This Cardinal is very wrong to claim molestation of children and young people is related to
Homosexuality. I imagine the preponderance of young boys molested by paedophile priests simply reflects the avaiibitly of boys to the monsterous priest. I also suspect it may also have much to do with lack of Altar Boys. The Cardina is a bright man. I wonder why he insists on peddling this pseudoscientific rubbish.
Most of the teens molested were boys so homosexuality probably had something to do with it

God gave husbands a natural authority over wives, and men in general a natural authority over women in general.
That is what is written in Scripture, but some women today claim that this idea was a cultural thing of 2000 years ago and is no longer applicable. As you know, Scripture also says that women should wear headcovering in Church. At the local Catholic Church I don’t see any women wearing headcovering, whether they are in the congregation or at the altar or giving the readings or giving Holy Communion at Communion time.

The Church is also called the body of Christ, and Christ is a man.
Then why is the Church referred to as the Bride of Christ? Why is it referred to as She? Why is it referred to as Holy Mother the Church?
God gave husbands a natural authority over wives, and men in general a natural authority over women in general.
Then thank God that he endowed humans with the free will to discern whether or not to accept that authority.

The clergy are masculine because they represent Christ. Altar servers used to be a way to intoduce boys to the priesthood. Nuns don’t altar serve so I don’t really see how that can help discern the religious life.

As long as the authority isn’t abusive or making you sin you are normally supposed to follow it (bishops, priests, the pope, your father, your husband)

Feminization is indeed a bad thing when men and priests become effeminate, and they no longer have strong character and morals, and no longer uphold and defend the teachings of the Church,or oppose false teachings and immorality.

The Church is necessarily patriarchal insofar as we worship the true, living God,who is Father,Son,and Holy Spirit, and God gave husbands a natural authority over wives, and men in general a natural authority over women in general.
So how does this natural authority of men over women play out?

Does any given woman have to obey any man she meets?
No it’s mostly fathers, husbands, clergy

Like she wouldn’t have to obey her son or her grandson

Men in general have a “natural” authority over women? Please back up your ideas with actual Church teaching. Catholic Church teaching. Not some fundamentalist Protestant sect. We’re not talking about the context of a marriage and the husband and wife role, but specifically this claim of yours that men have authority over women. Let’s see the official teaching on that one…

I would like to see that also.

I have seen this all men having authority over all women in the Christian Reconstructionist movement.

Than you and I are in agreement.
Here we go with the obedience thing. Women are not pets that need to “obey” their masters. This is the kind of thinking that makes me wonder what is wrong with people. It’s seems like a kind of sick fetish some men (and women) have that delight upon insisting this dominant/submissive role. That’s not following authentic Catholic teaching, that’s a sign of mental illness or an ignorant and skewed interpretation that derives from extremely poor catechesis

Sigh.

Just because I think that a husband has authority over his wife, doesn’t mean that the wife is her husband’s pet. It is the husband’s duty to lead his family towards Christ, not to use his authority to abuse.

But authority is not the subject of this thread and we need to get back on topic.
