CARM Mod 7:
You may ONLY post a link as reference for a quote in your discussion.

Links to other anti-christian or apologetic websites as a response to a discussion is not permitted and will be removed as a warning.

Links are permitted ONLY as a reference in your discussions and ONLY to reference a quote you have given…they are not permitted as a response to a discussion.

Please read the rules regarding cut and pastes.

Cut and Paste: Do not cut & paste large amounts of material.
What is ‘large’? Not very much. Have a dialogue with people, not cut and paste dialogues.

“Not very much” is not only in reference to large cut and paste posts, but also refers to MANY cut and paste posts, which seems to be an all to familiar trend on this board lately.

We will be removing cut and paste posts that are not about discussion but are simply for “promotion” of catholic writing.
This seems to be why you were booted off, Jerabekk.
They don’t like cut and pastes.
Maybe you should have re-worded Jimmy’s stuff, and adapted it to the discussion.

Mind you, I think its a silly rule, just there to hinder our efforts to defend our faith.

HA!
Look at this rule!
Users that attempt to interfere with Christian evangelism will be suspended or directed to appropriate board. Please stick to the topic of the forum. Posters seeking to debate Evangelical Christians should take their discussions or questions to the appropriate forum.
:rotfl:
Effectively, I cannot, for instance, help a Catholic who’s having trouble with his faith by refuting attacks - such things are in “interference with Christian evangelisation”…
HA!

Welcome to the wonderful word of those blinded by satan…

Yes… Satan…

Why else would someone want to restrict discussion? If you have truth, it shouldn’t matter as long as it is charitable.

Why would you not want people refuting you? If you have truth, refutation shouldn’t matter… as long as its charitable…

ANY organization that refuses to even truly allow discussion is flawed to the core and not interested in truth. I seriously Doubt Matt Slick i (i think is the guys name) has infallible understandings but after seeing his discussions, would think he believes as such.

Case in point… even those that disagree with the CC church will accept that at least here, as long as it is charitable, you can ask what you want… We arent afraid to answer ANY allegation, and openly accept any failings that may have happened in the past.

Not allowing discussion is a sign of fear…
But what are they fearing if they have the truth?

Fear is NOT a fruit of the Spirit, but it is the fruit of someone who is counter to the Spirit

In Christ

Personally, I think that Catholic Answers is much more fairly run than CARM and I spend much more time over here than over there. Nonetheless, I think your comment is harsh and unfair. People can have differences of opinion, including differences on how a religious forums should be operated, without those differences being ascribed to the Devil.

As I’ve seen, from posting there, the biggest problem is that they ultimately believe that any deviation from their core beliefs comes from the devil. So, If I try to defend the Catholic Church I get accused of lying, or am told I’m being misled by Satan. And, If you really believe that Catholic doctrine comes from Satan, it’s only natural to want to surpress Catholic viewpoints. I can’t say I see a lot of progress being made over there, but the debates are interesting in their own way.

RR is correct here. I"ve had discussions with him on Carm and he dealt with me more fairly than most. There were others that dealt with me fairly over there. What a vast majority of them feel is a love for the Lord, and it would be very narrow-minded to think that they don’t.

No one who loves the Lord would want to be accused of being a tool of the devil. Let’s leave judgments like that up to the Lord!

With that being said, I’m with CM and will continue to boycott CARM, but that’s because it was a bad thing for me.

BTW, Free Grace, if your hovering, please know that you’re one of them over there that was always fair to me. Different opinions? Of course!!! But Fair? Definately!

Hey Wonko… they don’t even allow links to CAF articles or any other real Catholic stuff. God forbid anyone should post a link to the Vatican copy of the catechism or something like that.

CAF believes that so long as the material is directly related to the discussion and not just a platform for a-C propaganda that it can and should be discussed and debated albeit with charity and respect. (I know, I’ve discussed this with the Mods here.)

My gripe about CARM is that they do not allow that, and so I don’t post there anymore. there are others like them and in some cases worse. (I know…someone is saying “worse”? It’s true though, and I don’t post there either. In fact I was banned there.:rotfl: )

Worse… unlike here at CAF, the Mods and admins are as bad (and in some cases worse than) as the rank and file anti-Catholics. Their philosophy seems to be that if you don’t like it, don’t be there. So guess which option I took? I haven’t posted there since October of last year. And I won’t

That should tell us something about who’s doing things right.

Don’t support them in any way!

Luke 9:5 And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off even the dust of your feet, for a testimony against them…

Don’t support them?
I agree.

However, I seem to have inadvertently registered there, out of interest in the (Edited by Moderator) posts by the OP.

Maybe I should provide myself some entertainment and try to get booted off. Though, I don’t think I’d have to try very hard… 😛

And yes, I have noticed that the Mods there are just as anti-catholic as the posters.
Very disconcerting. It makes me want to think that there is no hope for some people…😦

I still regularly go over there and I think Im getting through to people. Of course its a lot harder for Catholics to have serious discussion now that CARM forbids posting links to sources/quotes. It always bothered me how the A & R in cARm stands for “Apologetics AND Research” yet many Protestants (and sadly some Catholics) in the Catholic section over there dont want to engage in anything beyond hit and run and/or anti-C cut and paste.

Oh well, I still have some standard verses I regularly use which I truly believe are powerful tools to get Protestants thinking. One favorite is when Protestants bring up Rom 4 in “support” of faith alone through the example of Abraham…I simply bring up Heb 11:8 (Gen 12) which shows Abraham had saving faith before the event in Rom 4 (Gen 15) as well as after in James 2:21-24 (Gen 22), thus justification is not a one time event but increases as you obey God through your life (ie faith working through love - Gal 5:6). There really isnt a way for Protestants to harmonize those Scriptures without disrupting their theology. The funny thing is CARM in its library has a sermon on Heb 11, yet the pastor stops the sermon short of talking about Heb 11:8 😉

I would not TRY to get booted off. I would try to shine your light. The end result may be the same, but I think it is important to keep in mind what your intentions should be.

Trying to get kicked off? No glory to God.

Trying to spread the truth of Christ? All glory to God!

Or just boycott it:thumbsup:

its obvious that the ppl over at CARM cannot refute catholic arguments. if they could they would have done so, booting catholics off just shows that they cant

You could just e-mail him/her or IM could you not?

Hmm sounds familiar! People have pmd me for being unfairly treated because they don’t totally agree with everything here. To each his own!

I think the steadily increasing rate of converts and re-verts to the Catholic church (some in key leadership positions) has some of the hardcore fundies on edge;)

Are you sure you aren’t fudging your info just a tad? Look at CAF.
According to one poster on this thread there are 47,607 members on CAF. I don’t see how this is possible when only one or two people register on CAF each day. I took a look at the CARM site a couple of times and they look like they are adding about ten new registered members everyday. I also don’t see how CAF could have as many posts as CARM when there always seem to be more people on line at CARM.

(Notice that this is a real-time count right now, not a cumulative one from the last hour like at CARM. Also notice that we have more people on CAF right now than CARM’s best day ever.)

Looks to me like the stats speak for themselves.

Not at all. My only beef with the Catholic Answers set up is that there is not a separate forum for non-Catholic Christians. We are thrown all together under Non-Catholic Religions along with Mormans, JWs, Moslems, Hindus, Cults, etc. This is similar in some ways with CARM’s grouping of Catholics in the heterodox section of their forums.
Yes, I can see why that would bother non-Catholic Christians, and has bothered me as well. Maybe if you talk to the super moderators, you could get them to at least make a subforum or new forum since Catholics would agree with you that those above are not Christian, although at least two from that group would disagree with that assessment. Which may cause a whole new set of problems:eek:

God Bless,
Maria
Yeah, I would like this, too…I do understand that there would be some people upset from among, for example, Mormons, who apparently think that they are Christians…(Well I dare say that therte are some who are, but they are not a Christian church).

On the other hand, I have been here long enough to feel OK about posting almost anywhere. I do try to:p behave myself.😃
