Good grief, a child has to have tonsillitis seven times in one year before they can have their tonsils out!

Once Obamacare fully kicks in and virtually all corporate supplied health insurance disappears and we are all faced with purchasing our insurance from some local pool we will have the same low slow standard of care because the welfare state house of cards is falling down before our eyes and we haven’t even started to rack up the cost.

It is the begining of the marginalization of the elderly and children.

And thus we see what awaits America under Obamacare. Soon, Americans will be fleeing to Canada or Mexico for specialised treatment.
If one likes this thought, then be sure to proudly thank the 111th all Democrat controlled Congress for their wonderful ‘gift’ of mandatory rationed State controlled medicine.

I think it’s going to be a mess in the U.S. On the one hand, we have the evident determination of the Obama people to set economically-based formulas for treatment of those in the “insured” segments. On the other, we have the massive overutilization of services by those in the “government” segments like Medicaid and Medicare.

It’s impossible to really predict, but one could imagine significant governmental penny-pinching on the very expensive treatments for people late in life and a lack of restraint on the kind of low-end overutilization that goes on particularly with Medicaid. But, of course, most people don’t have huge expenses late in life and if they’re denied, their voice dies in the darkness, whereas if the great majority think they have a “free healthcare” deal for their colds and headaches, they’ll be supportive of it. Problem is, the government is likely to lose much more on the latter than it will ever save on the former.

People do this already. Many countries, such as India, have a great many extremely qualified doctors that can perform various surgeries at a fraction of the cost of here.

Oh, I do think if Obamacare turns into the mess it is likely to turn into, the well-to-do will be flying down to Monterrey or somewhere and their costs will be paid for by some policy written out of Switzerland or somewhere. I would be very surprised if some of the first class clinics haven’t already at least investigated locations. Foreign insurers have probably already figured out the actuarial aspects of it.

And what we’ll have then is one segment of the middle class painfully subsidizing the other segment in a system much more expensive than we have now. Neither the truly rich nor the truly poor will even see a difference in what they get. But that would fit with what seem to be the class objectives of this administration. They have targeted the lower end of the middle class for perpetual dependency, and the upper part of the same class to pay for it.

Lets avoid Misleading Hype; We have Postings here By British National Health Member refuting all the misleading And False hype. Anyone Who Needs important Medical aid Gets it quickly. And Our USA Massively Expoensive (28% of our Entire Economy, vs 5% for next biggest spending :France) is rated 28th best results in the world. And European Nations have very major independent (Non-Government) Doctors, etc. German Universal National Health is Based on commercial Insurance Companies, Medicine, and Doctors (I have 2 MD Cousins there) Regulated to prevent our massive Profits of in the 20’s % or More.
Our Vastly more expensive Health Business System is rated 28th in the world, and we have Far Higher Infant Death than any European Country. Only Mexico has a higher Infant Mortality Now in North America, but they Bagan National Health for Pregnant Women last year. Canada also began Provincial Health recently. Only we, in the Richest Nation in the World, do Not have Universal, One payer Health System. Just the Facts Other Nations know, we avoid.

Traveling for treatments would still be based on the ability to pay.

Looking at my own personal experience with cataracts, I had the surgery on one eye last year. I had insurance but my vision had to meet a certain standard of disability for the insurance to agree to pay for the surgery. I have another cataract in the other eye, but must wait until the vision deteriorates to a certain threshold before I can have the surgery covered through my insurance, for that eye, and of course enough time will pass that I have will to pay the full deductible again.

I found out there was assistance, from some foundations, but again one must have such a deteriorated condition to qualify. Without hitting the threshold one must wait.

So, whether with insurance or foundation, one must wait for treatments or pay for it themselves. Even with insurance my cost for the surgery on one eye was $3000.

The day I had my surgery a lady visited the out patient clinic where the surgeries are performed. She did not have insurance and was told she could be scheduled as soon as she had paid, in advance. Whether she had access, or knew of available assistance, I do not know. If she could not afford the surgery here, I fail to see her fleeing to another country for treatment.

My point to you now is the fact there is already a ‘waiting’ before such treatments are available.

Secondly, it’s not a state controlled medicine, but a state required coverage to pay for treatments like this. It seems the largest majority against such coverage are against it because it appears to be a ‘shared’ cost. What they may be overlooking is the fact that we already are at a ‘shared’ cost. For those who cannot pay for their treatments, the treatment costs are increased so that those who can pay are off setting the charges for those who cannot pay.

Obamacare is Based on Increasuing Govt payments to Insurance Companies, to whom many Uninsured will be turned over. Other Nations don’t rely on Insurance Companies, except Germany and Swiss National Health. Other nations have Low Cost National Health: India, Costa Rica, etc., etc. It is Our Current 28th rated health Business system that has the Middle Class Insurance Companies subsidizing the unpayables in ER’s with Very Overcharged Services. Ever wonder why ER’s charge $5 for One Aspirin? And ER’s are also Subsidized. The Truelly Rich are supposed to have “Health Savings Accounts”? It’s not transferring wealth (The Richest 2% own 60% of the USA Now, not the middle class anymore since the 1980’s), but having the Wealthiest, virtually Untaxed, Pay a Fair, Higher Taxes as they did in the 1990’s Economic Boom/Full Employment In the USA.

The reason these operations are be “rationed” is because of a lack of funding. The budget for the NHS has been cut by the Conservative party, our main right-wing party, who are in power.

As for “Socialised Medicine”, my father was a GP (family doctor) in the NHS for 38 years. He wasn’t told what to do, he made those decisions on the grounds of what was best for the patient, not cost, not what their insurance would cover. Not long after his retirement, one of our American relatives died of cancer. This was not long after having an interview with her insurance provider that included being asked “So, when do you think you will die?”

When he went to the US for the funeral, my dad had to patiently explain to people, over and over, that the stuff those who opposed “Obamacare” came up with about the NHS was totally false. There are no “death committees”. When he spoke to fellow doctors, they couldn’t believe the freedom he had had to decide what treatment the patient needed, without having to justify the cost to someone.

I personally have serious health problems, that cause me horrendous pain. Every night, the NHS has a doctor come out to my home, within 2 hours of my phoning and usually much less, to give me pain relief. This has been the case for many years, my American relatives couldn’t believe that anyone could get that kind of care. I’ve been in NHS hospitals many, many times, they are always clean, comfortable, efficient and provide excellent care. If there were “death committees”, I would have faced one years ago. I literally thank God every night that I live in a country with such a great healthcare system.

If “Obamacare” was going to be like to NHS, then you would have nothing to fear and everything to look forward to. Unless you are very wealthy, an NHS would leave you a lot better off, as you either wouldn’t need to pay for health insurance or your salary would be more because your employer wouldn’t need to pay for it. No worrying about co-payments if you get sick. No danger of losing your health insurance if you lose your job.

The NHS is a great system, it is in danger from the present UK government, but that doesn’t mean that the princple of the NHS is wrong. It is a national practice of Christ’s teaching in Matthew 25: 31-46. “I was sick and you cared for me… whenever you did this to these little ones who are my brothers and sisters, you did it to me.” (Mt 25:36 and 40), I am thankful for that.

I seriously doubt that would be the case. If the symptoms are not controlled by antibiotics on first bout, the GP would immediately refer the child for surgery.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money.

(1) * It’s Good to Research [SIGN] “Socialism”[/SIGN] before one critices it: Look up the Details on the [SIGN] Wikii[/SIGN]: Even Capitalism is a form of 'socialism; Pope Leo XIII (Rerum Novarum) and Pope Jihn Paul II The Great a Century Later wrote definitivelly, comprehensivelly about Socialism: Most Efficient System of one avoids the Extremes: Communism and For Profit Extremes). The Wikii on "Socialism is Very Revealing, informative.

(2) If you know what’s going on, it is Our Insurance Companies that require waiting till the Cataract or Health Emergency gets Severe enough, or Refuses to Pay when required.
(3) Know the by Far the Main reason for Personal Bankrupcies in the USA (Only)? Inability to pay Too High Medical Bills. National Health Systems like in Germany, France, Switzerland have None

Yes, that is true, health care providers fall from the sky like rain. No one needs paid, every health care worker works out of the kindness of their heart.

Someone has to pay for it people. How hard is it to understand? The money comes from somewhere. If you don’t pay for it, then the poor schmuck down the street is paying for it. It comes from increased taxes. American’s you think you pay a lot in taxes now, just wait until you have free health care.
