I saw this a while ago. What has impressed me is that several non-Catholic friends have sent it out to a broad list of friends that happened to include me. Some have the impression that it was put out by “the Catholic Church”.

I think it is being viewed by many people. I was favorably impressed, what about you?

I heard Glen Beck talking about it this morning on the radio. It was the first I had heard of it. I really like it.

I don’t know if this has already been posted but I just saw this ad for Catholics at Catholics Called 2 Witness

I have read some of the responses to your posting so my reasoning will be in the minority.
After some websurfing trying to find origins of the polished ad, the closest I can figure Is a chapter of the Knights of Columbus. Are they to be considered “The Catholic Church?” I would think that description belongs to the Vatican, if not the Pope alone. I know you did not call it that, but that is how it is being referred to.
At least one 4th degree K of C response resented the implication that ALL K of C chapters are behind the ad.

Separation of church and state was for a reason, and the careful wording goes to pains to try and not violate it, all the while having an obvious intent. And what of the point of the ad - who is one to vote for? Neither candidate fits the profile…

I will vote for the party that best represents the needs of the “un-rich” - that is the larger issue. I can and do object to those issues raised in the ad which I happen to agree with, but I do not throw out the baby with the bathwater.

I websurfed right to the source and their “About Us” states that one of the founders " “serves as the Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council 13045”. That is not the same as being made by or endorsed by the KofC. And they are not implying any such thing.

They arent implying that they are the Catholic Church, either. Yes, I know–many people (especially non-Catholics) think that anything produced by a Catholic individual or group is backed by or funded by the Church. But that’s not the fault of the ad’s producers.

Of course it’s going to have an “obvious intent”! 🙂 What are ads for? The people at Catholics Called to Witness certainly feel strongly about something! I know I do, too.

Well I pray that you make the right decision–that we all do–when we go into that voting booth. I know I’ll be thinking about those babies!

I find it interesting that you said you do not throw the baby out with the bath water. I hope that means your not voting for the most pro-abortion president in American history, whom is perfectly OK with killing the baby and then throwing it out with its own blood, no bath water.

Remember, unborn children are the poorest and most vulnerable human beings alive in their mothers womb. I hope you will be voting to help them in their poverty and oppression. Pray for the truth and be open to it. Peace.

I am sorry that you misunderstood. I don’t see where anyone said it was put out by the Catholic church but by people who are Catholics, though the Catholic church does not ever endorse a candidate, they are pretty strong on what the issues are for us to consider when we do vote.

As someone else said, please be very thoughtful when you vote this year. There are many many important issues at stake. Of course, abortion being the main issue, as little unborn babies being aborted are the most “un-rich” people there are, so if you are going to vote for the “un-rich”, they are the ones to consider first.

Also, as a nurse I can tell you there are a lot of changes going on in the medical field since the new health package came out and it is not helping the poor at all, though I will agree we should certainly and always consider the needs of the poor also. I, also agree with you that no side of the political party is perfect, there are those that are better and we must always remember government is not and never will be the answer to our problems. That is reserved for God alone but we must consider him when choosing out candidates.

Also, we have only seen the beginning of what is in the new health care package and it is pretty attacking on the Catholic church. I hate to see what comes next.

While your wording “separation of church and state…” is commonly used, it really does
not reflect the actual intent and purpose of the 1st Amendment which reads:

"Religious establishment prohibited. Freedom of speech, of the press, and right to petition. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting
the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of
the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of
grievances. "

The term you used was actually taken OUT OF CONTEXT in a letter by either Hamilton
or Jefferson. Today if you were to ask people if the wording is in the Bill of Rights, they
would say yes in a majority.

I see no conflict in this video, no matter who puts it out.
