Got it. Agree. That is why they started calling it pro choice and then again to women’s healthcare because when they called it pro abortion, they did not get the support they wanted.

I’ve never met a pro-abort… where are all of these people who love abortion?
Love is as love does. You need to know who supports its candidates. A good way to know what the candidates are is to look at both the NARAL and National Right to Life websites. They tell you which officeholders are pro-abortion and which ones are prolife. Interestingly, they are remarkably alike in the way they characterize officeholders. If NARAL says a person is pro-abortion, NRL will almost certainly do so as well.

Playing devil’s advocate here… we all tolerate many things that other people do in life that we don’t agree with. For instance, there are Buddists, Hindus, Jews, Muslims, etc. The fact that we disagree with their religious beliefs and think they are wrong, but tolerate them non-the-less, does not make us pro-Buddism or Judaism, etc.

I think many people are in the tolerate camp for abortion (which is an major problem), but it does not seem accurate to me to call people who think abortion is wrong, but are torn by the fact that there is a law that allows it and America puts great emphasis on personal liberty; especially when it comes to rape, incest and safety…

That said it is a sad state of affairs when abortion is used as casual birth control

My concern here is that this is a comparison of a religious belief, not killing being compared with a non religious belief that is killing.

Also, liberty has it’s limits.

Nobody is “pro blood transfusions.” Blood is transfused only when it is needed to replace lost blood. Nobody thinks there is any point to transfusions in other cases, though it is fodder for vampire and scifi novels.

There are anti blood transfusion people, usually based on sound biblical principles. Jehovah’s witnesses?

So it is a good analogy for pro abortion, since nobody is pro abortion. The term is used by prolife people who want to distort the positions of the people with whom they disagree, as when someone claims NARAL “will tell you if someone is pro abortion.” NARAL would never use that kind of description.

When prolife supporters use this kind of deceptive language, it alienates many from their cause. Such indifference to truth is not a good selling point.

nobody is pro abortion
right

I suspect the next argument is they are just pro choice, except when approached by someone who is pro life:

This is just one example:

Nobody is pro abortion or “I’m really against abortion but…” is an old argument that is being used as a new political slogan but it is deceptive.

This “I’m really against abortion but…” fill in the blanks, has fooled and continues to fool many young women.

In all charity, I pray women stop drinking this kool aid.

I would say I’m pro blood transfusion. I’m very glad they are there for those who need them.
