Cy and Joe, I applaud your efforts.

But I’m sorry, I was disappointed in your unsuccessful effort to achieve the goal of your discussion. You addressed two prominent Catholic personalities’ criticisms of Pope Francis.

You just failed to address the question satisfactorily (Cy, you “hoped you had” with an inquiring tone, so I’m not attacking you, but providing my honest feedback). Joe admitted that he addresses the issue flippantly for reasons he did explain and are understandable.

You both addressed the specific criticisms indirectly and it came across as a personally defensive defense of the papacy which is not what the criticisms are about (although Cy, you admitted this need to defend was your tendency, which is also understandable). You vaguely alluded to the necessity of our need to look at the: preponderance of evidence, its implications, and inevitable conclusions regarding poor behavior and leadership of the man who is the Pope.

The laity has the responsibility, if not an obligation to (as a work of mercy) to call out that poor behavior and leadership by the prime minister of the faith. In this “Time of the Laity”, we can not be called to stand by quietly without endangering our souls by the good we fail to do.

How long can one continually defend the behavior (not the office) again and again as you stated, continually? Sorry so negative, I appreciate and enjoy you Cy, the show, and all your guests, except maybe Tim Staples, LOL, just kidding (I can’t pass up to giving a fellow Jarhead a hard time). He’s great too.

Maybe you could take another stab at answering the question, or provide some guidance on weighing the evidence and drawing one’s own conclusions, and how to correctly respond to those conclusions positive or negative (which I thought Joe did a beautiful job. I think its true when you loose your peace, you are on the wrong path). Thanks for hearing my (name removed by moderator)ut. God Bless!

Is Francis a Bad Pope?
I am not sure why Catholics are asking this question?

Dadrocks, if “Cy and Joe” are two Catholic Answers apologists you just heard broadcasting something, please be aware that
  • The CA apologists don’t read this forum
  • Most of us on here aren’t sitting around listening to everything on CA
  • We’re just laypeople and a small handful of clergy, not affiliated with CA, who post here answering people’s questions about Catholicism
  • Therefore most of us don’t have a clue what you’re going on about.
If you have feedback for Catholic Answers on one of their programs, please e-mail Catholic Answers directly.

I believe the original poster mentioned the new Vatican coin which has just been issued. I haven’t heard the talk mentioned, but for an ordinary Catholic like me, the coin is truly troubling.

The coin shows a picture of a mother who holds the earth in her womb, and looks very, very like the idol Pachamama which caused so much anguish some time ago.

The pretty young girl on the coin doesn’t look anything like Pachamama. The girl is dressed, for one thing, and not pregnant, for another. Edited to add, I guess she could be seen as being pregnant but to me it just looked like she was hugging a round earth, or a jug shaped like an earth.

If you want to get troubled over little things like that, it’s your life I guess. I’m an “ordinary Catholic” too and I have a lot of more pressing issues than a picture of a girl on a coin.

I saw it yesterday and I don’t know why it has to be explained like it is Pachamama 2. It is not and I find that picture beautiful. Earth on womb represents whole humanity and emphasizes importance of women and mother. Who can carry new life and civilisation in his womb except mother?

Hey Everybody, It’s Fake News!

I find nothing about this coin at the Vatican or Vatican State website.

The images shown by churchmilitant.com are clearly not made in metal, but are merely an artist’s sketch. Perhaps an artist hoped to submit these coin designs for consideration, but I am pretty sure they would never be selected.

If you look at the 2020 coins of the Vatican State, you will see that they are all very proper and uncontroversial:

Tis_Bearself, thank you. Seeing how this is a Catholic Answers forum, and I don’t see another way to provide feed back to the hosts via email, I assumed someone from Catholic Answers responsible for monitoring the forum and posts, would pass it on. If there is another way to send feedback directly to Cy, please advise. I did not see one.

Thanks and God bless.

The prefect for the Vatican communication dicastery said that the coins were supposed to stand for fertility, mother earth, and the culture of the Amazon.

This is the real deal:

I think if you look on the main Catholic.com website for the show you were listening to, the shows usually have a “Contact” button that brings up a web form where you can write comments and send them to CA directly. I’d suggest that.

If the Pachamama nonsense hadn’t happened in recent memory, this may not have raised much of an eyebrow. While the vast majority of papal coins have explicitly Christian imagery, personifications (based in paganism) like Lady Justice have appeared on old papal coins before, but they had become just symbols of some virtue or another. The image of Pachamama, as an actually personality that is sacrificed to (or as an icon of the earth that is sacrificed to, which is just as bad) is still too fresh and this is just another poor choice that gives credence to that.

Interestingly, the German Catholic Bishops web site describes this item as " “Pachamama-Münze” which I understand translates as “Pachamama Coin”

It is an idealized demon made to look like Medusa, which the Illuminati associated with Medusa, or so I heard somewhere on the internet, so it must be true.

Seriously, this is one of the strangest first posts I have seen. This is a Catholic website, right? So why would anyone think that is an appropriate topic? We follow the Pope, we do not lead him, vote on him, or rank him.
