I saw when I logged on this afternoon that the forums will be closing as of 31 Dec.
I’m sad to see this as I’ve been a member for about 8 years and I actually met my wife through the forums.
Just wanted to say thanks to those I’ve interacted with over the years, primarily in the Family Life section.

Also wondering if there are alternatives or even a facebook group that we could migrate to? I guess the appeal of the forums is that they’re anonmyous.

In any case, it’s been great. God bless.

Where have you seen this? I haven’t heard it.

I’m going to be so sad if this is true.

What?! I just joined! This cant be true!!! We have to do something!

Message popped up on the screen when I logged in. It’s all about how they can’t justify the cost etc. I was hoping it was not the case but apparently it’s happening. It said they didn’t raise the required funds from site patrons to keep it going and it wasn’t necessarily seen as necessary for their work or something to that effect.

Wow, that’s crazy. I’m going to have to reach out to a bunch of people to see if they want to exchange usernames on other sites or something. There are a bunch of people I hate to just lose touch with completely.

Just got the message. Wow, very sad. CAF does have its issues but it can be a very good place as well. Wasn’t there a CAF before this one? Perhaps they will move to a new cheaper one? Are there other catholic forums?

Same.

I find it interesting that only a few years ago they revamped the whole site and now they’re shutting it down.

CA Forums Shutting Down Patrons
A message from the President of Catholic Answers Dear Members and Patrons of the Catholic Answers Forums, On Thursday December 31 at 5pm PT, Catholic Answers will close the Catholic Answers Forums (CAF). I have made the decision to close the CAF after lengthy consultation with the Catholic Answers executive committee and board of trustees. Because Catholic Answers has limited resources, we are always evaluating our programs to determine if they provide a good return on investment. I understan…

The financial thing seemed like only part of it. It also suggests that time would be better spent in other endeavours.
Agree. I think reading that post, CAF is causing more trouble to Catholic Answers than it’s worth. It’s such a shame.

Do these people even have any empathy or those who met their spouses here, those who are here because of loneliness, those who cam’t share their faith due to persecution??? I’m shocked. Sorry if i’m uncharitable.
