Catholic Charismatic Renewal, an effective response to Charismatic Evanglicals?

I agree 100%…take a look at St. Padre Pio, probably the most well known modern day Catholic charismatic. He had the gifts of speaking in tongues and healing, among other gifts. Yet, he was very humble and would never have thought to “mess with the Mass”. I’ve read a lot about him and I can assure you that he only used his gifts for the glorification of God, as charismatics always should. Charismatics who glorify themselves by showing off or by not appropriately following the instruction for the Mass are indeed big trouble for the Church.

From reading what has been provided about Padre Pio—it seems God is very selective—on who He bestows the gifts on.
Does not seem to fit—what is now being claimed by the charismatic congregations.

To receive a gift of charism from God is a great grace as well as a great burden. Recipients of this gift must use it for the spiritual benfit of others, all the while remaining humble and prayerful and never showcasing themselves.

What I understand is why do so many people get stressed out about what other people do with their hands. We need to recognize that in a matter where there is no sin, we need to permit others some liberty.

What I dont understand is why some folks feel the need to grab my hands during mass:eek: …
in regards to the orans…as another posted so simply stated…
***The GIRM says it’s a posture prescribed for the priest only:) ***
 
Just because it isn’t formally a sin…doesn’t make it correct. In no way are people supposed to hold hands, do orans, or signal touchdowns…no way, shape, or form…therefore it is improper for them to do such…no liberty should be given. The Catholic Church is not a democracy where one does whatever they choose. By doing such, they are adopting a posture which is not allowed for by the GIRM. It may not be sinful…but it is not acceptable either.

Look, I don’t any of that stuff, but it makes me so mad that people have the time and energy to beat other people up over this. Seriously, get a life! We have bigger problems.

I’m on top of those problems too :)…and since you mentioned it…cooperating with those doing wrong and indifference to those who are not conducting themselves properly during Mass is a problem in and of itself. Apathy is the glove into which evil slips its hand…remember that…it is very important and very truthful.
